FUBAR and ROCKIT

snuffster i think perhaps you underestimate the esteem with which us newbies regard the senior members with a large number of reviews posted. I have purchased a lot of snuff in the last two months and have been guided in my choices mostly by the excellant reviews of half a dozen people. This has helped me to avoid some of the not so good snuff out there and i am grateful for it. When i purchased the FUBAR products there weren’t any reviews for it and i do like it a lot especially the grunt. I would prefer better packaging and a slightly lower price but the snuff itself is great. I totally agree that everybody is entitled to their opinion but senior members opinions carry weight and will influence many other people.

Good point Big Al, when you consider that Snuffhouse gets thousands of visitors each month, this is one of the few sources of info available for snuff! I bet a lot of people base their choices on the reviews they read here, I know I did when I started, and still do. A very small percentage of readers ever post, they just read.

FarleyFlavors: you make a very good point. Perhaps for the next round of labeling I will take your advice. One of the problems is space constraint, but there is no harm in having “Made in India by Dholakia exclusively for Mr. Snuff Inc.” on the back of the containers if we can fit it in. I like that idea.

I’d like to just say something on the subject of reviews and opinions: This is my opinion; I do find it annoying, as Farley says, that the new brands are not openly labelled - equally so with the etsablished brands like Tranters - I just think its unnecessry and misleading. I agree that there seems to be some secrecy about who makes what and I really dislike that - I like to know what I am buying, there are several makers who I don’t like - I don’t have enough money to buy supposedly ‘new’ snuffs to find they are made by a company whose blends I dislike. There you have it, an opinion, nothing more, no agenda. As a consumer who spends some of his spare and hard earned cash making snuff manufacturers and suppliers prosperous, I’m entitled to that opinion and free to express it, as generally accepted. Reviews, of any subject - restaurant, play, movie, whatever - are only of any worth if the reviewer is honest about his or her views. Its not the job of a reviewer - or an obligation - to worry about whether the subject is going to be offended by the review. I believe that a consumer pays for the right to express his views when he purchases the goods, he really doesn’t have to defend that view to a businessman. Read a few theatre reviews and you will see that most of them are emotive in some way or even - as Mr Snuff says - vituperative. Its actually part of life, part of the cut and thrust, and I would hate to see this site turn into a fan club for the business element where if you are not sayiing something great about them its a big deal. And Jarhog, I hope snuff takes off in the 21st century too and as I did say in my post, I wish the manufaturers all success - that really wasn’t the point I was making.

i do not want to renew any arguments but i don’t think that all that backlash was inapropriate if i were in a shop and someone reacted to me in that fashion about my opinion on their product i would walk right out the door and wave goodbye with my middle finger. I sell fresh produce at farmers markets for a living and if i flipped out every time somebody dosn’t buy my lettuce for one reason or another and buys the same exact lettuce from the vendor in the stall next to me i would be out of buisiness in one season. Now i understand its not exactly the same but its the same principal. Now on the same note i can understand where the upset comes form because there are times when people criticize the hell out of my perfectly good produce for no apparent reason and it does hurt when you have alot of work and pride in something and someone tears it apart, but i think it should have been handled differently. My closing note… i can’t wait to try every snuff i can get my hands on

It’s funny though because this relabeling thing happens a lot in more products then snuff. Often times you really have to dig pretty deeply to find out the truth about who makes what product. At least with snuff it doesn’t seem to be a regional thing. I.e. in this state company a makes it and in that other state company b makes the product in the same package with the same label. Happens all the time. Guess it’s just a reality of modern bussiness.

Yeah it personally does not bother me if I know who makes a snuff or not. My biggest concern is if I enjoy the snuff or not. Just like when I go grocery shopping, 90% of the time I will buy store brand products just to save a little money & generally they taste the same as name brands. 9 times out of 10 that store brand is made by one of the reputable/popular name brand companies anyways even though it does not say it on the package. There are a lot of products over a wide range of categories that are made by someone else but its not disclosed. You see it a lot in hunting & fishing products, shoes, clothing, food, personal care products etc. Places like sportsmansguide.com does it a lot with their own brand “guide gear”. They have it made by a reputable company, put their own name on it and sell it cheaper than the comparable name brand product. They don’t disclose who its made by but with a little comparing you can figure it out.

yeah it’s definetely not just snuff. If it was up to me evertything would be labeled with ingredients, where its made, and where it was repackaged, reprocessed etc. not just snuff but everthing, food, medicine, tea, cars, shoes, clothes, you get my drift. i for one like to know what i’m buying and who made it … and now im not even talking about snuff anymore but ranting about our corrupt world lol.

Personally I think it’s a great thing to have this snuff available and to know it’s Dholakia quality would seemingly be to it’s advantage. This stuffs unique in that it takes the best of both the popular EU styles, easy to take and highly flavored and the American style’s texture and strength. I’m no expert but as good as this is, and strong as it is, more people might be apt to try snuff and stick with it.

I experience the same thing in my business. One range of items that I produce I sell in bulk to another manufacturer who then puts them in his own packaging. Some of his customers claim to prefer the items bought from him, possibly because he charges them slightly more than I do, even when they are told the products are identical. Neither of us can figure it out but we both do well out of it so no complaints from anyone.

johndeere - yep, I’ve certainly now walked out of this particular store never to return. The day I get businessmen crying like girls cos Ive said something they don’t like is the day I part company with them

Snuffster: my sincere apologies for offending you. The irony is I actually agree with your sentiments. In the spirit of free debate, I also think we all have a right of reply, hopefully without too much offense being taken. The great thing about this forum is that we can debate and argue without things degenerating into the sort of nasty curse-wars that you see on other forums. I totally respect your opinion, and your right to buy or not buy wherever you please. Honestly I was not crying like a little girl because of your opinions on the snuff (ok…maybe a little snuffle ----- so to speak). However, I must admit that I blubbed like baby when you accused me of being dishonest. Now that I have finished my box of Kleenex and said my piece, I feel a whole lot better. Also you putting your thoughts into perspective made your comment make more sense to me. I probably need to grow a thicker skin!

Yes, before we have this beautiful forum FUBAR, let’s all take a pinch on Alex, our suppliers, our members and freedom of speech. In my nose I have TOQUE Espresso, on you all!!! Kindest regards Pieter

Mr Snuff - No apologies needed, I wasn’t really offended just - I guess - being robust in my opinions. Of course you have the right to reply and I for one genuinely did not feel we had degenerated in any bad way, I mean most of us are guys here and have probably all said our piece at one time or another in a way thats ruffled some feathers but there is no real animosity - when I get going I have a big mouth, typical old cop - I probably just need putting out to grass with a cup of hot milk or something. I do take on board the comment though about nasty curse wars, we need to keep that out of our forum and if I have appeared to engage in that then I too offer apologies. And ‘dishonest’ was a word I used without a great deal of intent behind it - with hindsight (a wonderful thing!!) I would have phrased it more like farley did - an apparent and not needed secrecy. Peace and love. Nigel

In my opinion this discussion has been both positive and enlightening. I feel as if I am part of a think tank for snuff and snuffmakers. Another point that I would like to leave Mr. Snuff with is the danger of raising a red flag with anti-tobacco fanatics putting all snuff at risk especially with this litigious society we live in. This comment is mostly regarding marketing to the “younger” consumers. I would recommend a consultation with a lawyer or at the very least doing some homework on tobacco laws. Anyhow best of luck to us.

Got my first taste of FUBAR yesterday, and it was the Shot of Rum. It’s a pretty dry, fine snuff, and tastes pretty much like some good rum. I’ve also got some Grunt, and Rockit Cherry Pop on the way.

Glad you like it! Thanks

Got the Grunt and Cherry Pop today - well done  The Cherry is so good I want to eat it, but that might be a bad idea. Maybe I’ll just sniff it instead

I find myself looking for FUBAR RnR sometimes. I do have the black box Gawith that’s also a Poschl that I happened to find in Berkeley but it’s also Apricot and could compare that if you decide to just snuff the RnR, it makes the black box apricot seem to have no flavor. After a few more days with the Shot of Rum I decided that it could be an everyday one. of course, I have had the nights with just the Wilson’s R and B complementing a disc at a time of the Sopranos just around when I started snuff. I think this made me make the Wilson’s special. The first sniff of Medic gave the impression of candy like the other side of Sparrow Cool or a sweetened SM 500.

I got some FUBAR SoR from Nicotine Rush this week, I’m liking it, but it’s got some stiff competition from my newly arrived Toque order!!
