If anyone has a photo of these, please post it?
I got this from Lil Brown
Thanks.
@Cstokes, you are welcome. No use having knowledge and keeping it to myself.
Tried to order some just now, along with some other goodies. The ten gram tins are all out of stock except the raspberry and the 12 count boxes, but the 5g tappers are in stock. They carry General snus that is typically available stateside, for those that care, and prices seem relatively reasonable. However, they need me to call to verify my age…and I can’t do that right now. Blast.
They processed my order and I never had to talk to anyone on the phone. I ordered one each of the 5g sneeze wheels, some General, Oliver Twist, and Redman Long Cut. Maybe it depends on what state/country you are in?
They asked for my birthdate, on the website, and then it said “can’t be processed, call this number,” etc. I haven’t yet, since I don’t really want sneeze wheels anyways. Maybe I put my birthday in wrong or something.
I placed an order with lilbrown. then order was canceled and refunded to my card? edm
Odd. My order was shipped out via UPS and due on the 24th. The only stipulation is that someone be home to sign for it over 18 yoa. I’ve yet to be ID’d, called, e-mailed, or asked to jump thru any hoops. Did you guys make an account with them? Also, did you use the same info on your billing as the shipping? Maybe I just got lucky and the great Wakantanka blessed me that day or something.
I ordered from them one time, and it went well, though they did send me one old item. But with tobacco, and UPS, one has to sign for it.
Ok. Just got thru taking initial samples of these. So far I’m pleasantly surprised. The new twist tins keep a better seal than I had anticipated. I take back the term “sneeze wheels”. They are a bit tricky to get started tho and like to jam up on the initial opening twist. A bit early to toss out opinions on the snuffs, but I am impressed so far. This is not a rotten old can of Dean Swift, someone made some good snuff here.
@ Spyro: Did you try all three? Are they mentholated? Are they water or oil moistened?
Yes, I have tried all three. The base is a bit odd. Has the look and texture of being dry but reacts like its moist. This might even be wax based. Inspection with a magnifying glass reveals a medium fine cut roughly milled with flecks of varying shades of tobacco. The Mint is slightly mentholated and is very reminiscent of an Ozona or Poschl, just a bit more on the dry side with less menthol. Raspberry and Clove are non-mentholated, tho the Raspberry delivers a slight prolonged burn, not a PH or SP type of burn but more of a warming effect, sort of peppery. They all seem to be decent in nicotine. The Clove isn’t over done and doesn’t out stay its welcome. The twist tins are cool but suffer from cost efficiency. For just $0.30 more you get twice the snuff in the 10g tin. No idea yet if the taste is any different in the 10g tins since they were out of them when I ordered. (EVERY time I place an order somewhere, my favorites get restocked or go on sale as soon as my order ships. There should be a Sniglet for that). These taste “familiar” to me.
I told ya’ll that the twist tins with holes keep snuff well. Unlike sneeze boxes.
Thanks for the feedback, I had it in the cart but didn’t finish the order…
Just got all 3 in the mail yesterday. Base tobacco It’s an interesting cut. It’s got more types of tobacco (less homogeneous) than Toque, there seems to be many different colors and shades, though they’re mostly medium/light brown. But there’s some yellow flecks and a few darker flecks. It seems decently smoky, especially in the Clove and Mint scents. It’s medium/course and is easy to take. It doesn’t appear to me to use oils, just water, and I suspect this will take well to a bit of re-hydration. It’s not too dry, more medium/dry but a little moisture might make it fluffier. Clove This one is a winner to me. Slightly smoky, medium grind, medium-dry snuff. The clove scent is strong, but not nearly as ‘hurty’ (sting/burn) as McChrystal’s. At first it’s a bit like smelling a burning clove cigarette, but the clove fades sooner than the rich tobacco base. After a while, I got a notable ‘ocean’ or ‘ropey’ undertone. Maybe it’s just the saltiness or maybe freshness. The drip was a little ‘hot’, but not offensively so, especially if you keep it where it belongs. I probably won’t use it as an all day snuff, but it’s a nice addition to the stable. It’s not ‘like’ anything else. Mint It’s more menthol than mint to my nose. I mean, it’s got some spearmint, and maybe a bit of wintergreen, but it’s mostly menthol. The rope scent doesn’t even begin to peak above the mint for the first 2-3 minutes in the nose. But it does seem to be there. It may be even a bit more herbal than the clove. It just seems slightly disconnected in flavoring, as compared to something like SG Peppermint Dark. I think this one is good, but it probably won’t be a favorite. Raspberry The flavoring on this one didn’t do it for me. It seemed artificial to me, and worse yet, it smelled in the nose like it was sweetened like an american sweet, though it didn’t taste strongly so on the tongue. In the nose, it reminded me most of Honeybee or Buttercup, but with a heavy raspberry overlay. I also got a bit of cherry, though it could just be that I’m associating the artificial smell with cherry smell. I don’t like cherry, so that didn’t endear it to me, either. I expected menthol, not sugar, so maybe that’s part of it, too. I don’t care for the twist containers. I much prefer to take a pinch. They’re all about medium - medium/strong, nothing that will blow you away, but you’ll feel it if you take a nose-full. Overall, pretty good, and worth trying. They’re not really like anything else out there.
I agree with you about the clove. It is my favorite clove snuff, I like it even more than my home made dholakia high dry toast scented w/ clove oil. I don’t get the ocean smell like you detect, but neverthe less I really like it. By the way, you can get the 10gm tins from lil brown, which I like a lot more than the 5’er, hole in the side tins.
I am enjoying the clove ,very authentic ,and the drip is spicy
I enjoy the clove very much. I hate the tin it comes in. Difficulty in opening it to the dispensing hole.
The larger tins are the same as Wilson tins. so you have to open over paper
