Has anyone tried Wild Horse Snuff? What is it like? I saw an American Indian tobacco shop carries it and they ship to US and Europe, but I have never heard of it and it is not listed (as far as I can see) on Snuffreviews.com.
Thanks cstokes4.
You’re very welcome.
Surely you mean Dark Horse Snuff? I managed to get it into our official roster (not yet complete). It even has a website, but not much info on it. I’m still hopng to find some locally, otherwise I will have to order it from Lil Brown.
I’m growing very fond of Dark Horse Clove. If you’ve ever smelled Bay Rum cologne, then that’s pretty much what Dark Horse Clove reminds me of. The Raspberry is pretty good, but like all fruity snuffs I can only use it now and then. The Mint reminds me of a urinal cake and I won’t go near it again if it was the last snuff on earth.
Hi all, I posted this over on the thread that cstokes4 linked to. However, that thread won’t float up to the top. So my post is buried. Seems like a forum bug of some sort. Here’s what I posted on that thread: Just got all 3 in the mail yesterday. Base tobacco It’s an interesting cut. It’s got more types of tobacco (less homogeneous) than Toque, there seems to be many different colors and shades, though they’re mostly medium/light brown. But there’s some yellow flecks and a few darker flecks. It seems decently smoky, especially in the Clove and Mint scents. It’s medium/course and is easy to take. It doesn’t appear to me to use oils, just water, and I suspect this will take well to a bit of re-hydration. It’s not too dry, more medium/dry but a little moisture might make it fluffier. Clove This one is a winner to me. Slightly smoky, medium grind, medium-dry snuff. The clove scent is strong, but not nearly as ‘hurty’ (sting/burn) as McChrystal’s. At first it’s a bit like smelling a burning clove cigarette, but the clove fades sooner than the rich tobacco base. After a while, I got a notable ‘ocean’ or ‘ropey’ undertone. Maybe it’s just the saltiness or maybe freshness. The drip was a little ‘hot’, but not offensively so, especially if you keep it where it belongs. I probably won’t use it as an all day snuff, but it’s a nice addition to the stable. It’s not ‘like’ anything else. Mint It’s more menthol than mint to my nose. I mean, it’s got some spearmint, and maybe a bit of wintergreen, but it’s mostly menthol. The rope scent doesn’t even begin to peak above the mint for the first 2-3 minutes in the nose. But it does seem to be there. It may be even a bit more herbal than the clove. It just seems slightly disconnected in flavoring, as compared to something like SG Peppermint Dark. I think this one is good, but it probably won’t be a favorite. Raspberry The flavoring on this one didn’t do it for me. It seemed artificial to me, and worse yet, it smelled in the nose like it was sweetened like an american sweet, though it didn’t taste strongly so on the tongue. In the nose, it reminded me most of Honeybee or Buttercup, but with a heavy raspberry overlay. I also got a bit of cherry, though it could just be that I’m associating the artificial smell with cherry smell. I don’t like cherry, so that didn’t endear it to me, either. I expected menthol, not sugar, so maybe that’s part of it, too. I don’t care for the twist containers. I much prefer to take a pinch. They’re all about medium - medium/strong, nothing that will blow you away, but you’ll feel it if you take a nose-full. Overall, pretty good, and worth trying. They’re not really like anything else out there.
I just bought these from Lil’ Brown.
Never had them before.
Also got some clove filtered cigars, a cheap pipe, and some cheap pipe tobacco.
Their $5 shipping is very attractive.
Well, I guess not. My email reciept doesn’t have them on it.
I don’t know why.
I replied on the email and said if they wern’t available, then add some General snus.
I just asked my local guy where I get snus if he can get these and/or Silver Dollar. We’ll see what he can turn up, otherwise I’ll get some from Lil’ Brown too. He used to carry Pöschl, so he’s open to it at least.
Well, Lil’ Brown told me they could not sell me the Dark Horse due to them working on complying with Pact. I just cancelled.
Lame. I thought they shipped UPS.
I think they do. But that’s what I was told.
I live in the U.S. and the only snuff in the stores here are silver dollar dark horse and american or dental snuff.I just tried the raspberry dark horse and honestly I didn’t care for it at all. Nicotine felt weak there was almost no burn Which might be a plus to some and the flavor was weak too but that was a plus for me cuz I didn’t care for the slight flavor it had.
Their $5 shipping is very attractive.
From the USA to England ?
I think Tom is in the USA
I think Tom is in the USA
I see. XD
Lil Brown now can ship to Colorado. I have an order coming tomorrow of D.H. Clove. I tried all three of them and found the raspberry and mint to be not very good. However, the clove is great. Complex base tobacco, almost coasre grind, very nice. And as someone else noted, a flat $5 shipping fee for orders under fifty bucks. I wish they carried more brands. All the have are Garrett Scotch and Sweet, plus some best selling WoS, like Best SP, Crumbs of Comfort, r. Rumney’s, etc.
Got my order about an hour ago. Lil Brown has free shipping this month. The Dark Horse Clove in 10gm tin is quite nice. As another, more detailed reviewer noted, it’s very clovey, medium grind, and has different colored flecks of tobacco. It’s one to try if you like clove.
