So, I ordered 2 late night on the 9th and the bullets arrived today. I can’t count the 9th because of how late I placed the order, so that makes a whopping 3 days to get here from Canada. That guys is a pretty awesome seller. I haven’t tried them yet, but they look way more consistently made than the other alum bullet. Thanks again @DICE !
Wow I think of all the money I wasted on bullets when I used them. I no long use bullets . Snuffhouse.org boxes are so easy to fill and empty. And I get to pinch or tap out. All I need. Bullets unscrew bottom ,carefully fill replace bottom. turn over load turn again use.run out without knowing. I am not anti bullet ,I just find them more trouble and slow.
Arrrg. I just got mine, and tried one. Same measly little blast as all the others. You know the kind-where you do three on each side and then think you taste it. No camera, but HDT came out about a third of the blast of the pic that got me to buy them. Rats. Add 'em to the others… :-w
@ad_noseum I don’t understand how. The bowl on mine is WAY bigger than my original one. Yeah, it’s not like a 1/4 teaspoon and firing it up there, but it seems a lot better to me than the old one I have.
I’m quitting bullets. Well, the snuff bullets, not my 40’s or 45’s. I’d rather pry open an old Gawith 10-grammer and refill it. Nuts.
@ad_noseum I am sorry to hear that! I don’t understand how it could give a smaller amount if it is the exact ones that I got. The only thing I can think of is technique. I tap the bottom of my bullet down on my thumb knuckle or on a table so that all the snuff gets packed down to the bottom. Then when I rotate it over and hit it on the top, it SLAMS the snuff down into the bowl and really packs it in there. I am finding that the more I use snuff the less and less I am using my bullet. I am preferring to use a pill holder type metal capsule and I just unscrew the lid then tap some out into a boxcar.
I just got ordered and received 2 similar bullets after checking out this thread early last week. I am definitely impressed with the amount of snuff delivered per turn. When I was checking out the chamber from the bottom, I noticed a some kind of metal shaving around the mechanism inside that I wiggled out- wouldn’t want that snuffed up my nose. I use the back of the hand method and I find these easier to use and more convenient than scooping out some every time. I don’t really have a proper snuffbox yet.
I just noticed another one around the smaller bore towards the top. It could be just on the ones I got, but I doubt it. they probably weren’t sanded after they were bored.
I used a small jewelers screwdriver to clean out any left over shavings from the machining. I also washed it very well to remove any machining oils etc before loading it with snuff.
@DICE and @Disco_Snuff: OK, I reamed out the loading cup, and I got some funk out. Now it dispenses more, perhaps maybe twice as much as a typical bullet. Thanks for the advice, and the health warning. It’s still a small shot for me, but I usually load up pretty heavy. I’ll keep 'em in my truck, as back-ups. I’m thinking, at this point, that I’ll drift out the pivot pin, disassemble it and enlarge the cup. You guys notice that these things pivot differently? One is smooth and easy, the other not so much? Maybe some Vasoline on the O ring, since it’ll be apart (did he just say Vasoline on the O ring?) Thanks again, brothers. Although not perfect (what the hell IS these days) it’s better than the others I have.
Here’s a dose from a bullet I ordered last week, after I took a drill to it. I can never leave well-enough alone, and this time it paid off nicely. I got the idea from an old post of Rodrick’s, where he described his technique for “pimping out” his acrylic bullets. I figured the same could be done for aluminum, just exchange hand and knife with drill and bit.
thanks for this thread as I was wondering the same thing.
I went ahead and did some drill work on an acrylic bullet, and had some amazing results. This is what it gives me tapped out into a boxcar. Why didn’t I do this sooner?
Here’s the pic
