Just got my first snuff bullet in the mail. These things are very convenient when it comes to snuffing whilst driving and such. The pinch is a little small, but thats nothing that can’t be solved with repeated use. Do many of you use these? I imagine my use of it will be limited to driving and occasionally while I’m out and about. Very inventive, though.
I was thinking of getting one of these…do you find they are cleaner to use than just sniffing off the back of the hand or between fingers? Which model did you buy? I’d be interested to hear more about what you think of it.
The pinch is so small it makes me crazy. I tried just doing several pinches in a row but that was too time consuming and unsatisfying and I started just unscrewing the bullet and pouring on the back of hand. Didn’t take long to figure out that there’s no point in me carrying a bullet since I didn’t use it like it’s meant to be used.
I pretty much only use them while driving, or when I am on the beach or at a wedding or someplace where discretion is best. I take a big pinch usually so when I do use a bullet I find myself taking about 3 or 4 shots up each nostril.
This is the model I bought, Lazarus. http://www.snuffstore.co.uk/snuff-dispenser-original-perspex-p-187.html?cPath=48\\_65 Well, it’s definitely cleaner, as you don’t have to touch the snuff, past filling the bullet itself. I’ve been using it while driving, and the convenience is outstanding. Onefortheroad is right when he says the pinches are very small, but like Bigsnoot said, just take 3 or 4 up each nostril. I’m enjoying it so far.
Snuffy, isn’t that the same kind that Toque uses?
Get yourself an in-car snuffbox kit. Well, you can always design the first one ever
You’ll have to ask Roderick that, Roam. It was the cheapest one on Snuff Store. Ha. As for the in-car snuffbox…that would definitely be interesting. Someone should straight do that.
It would have to be a very short term in-car snuffbox as the snuff will degrade fast if left in the car. You would have to make sure and use whats in their pretty quickly or remove from car when parked. Unless of course you live in a cold climate year round.
Has anyone used this model of snuff bullet/rocket before? I’m thinking of getting one of these as I need a ‘professional’ discreet looking one for work… http://www.snuffsupermarket.co.uk/shop.php/snuff-bullets-accessories/snuff-bullets/aluminium-snuff-rocket/p\\_75.html
…or you could just either A) Pull over and pinch or B) Don’t snuff until you reach your destination ;o) I’m trying to imagine the look on the Police Officers face after you plow your car into a tree…“Well Officer I was taking a pinch of snuff…”
I pinch from a tin while driving occasionally. And of course there are the red lights.
Pinching from a wooden box is the answer for multitasking. nothing to unscrew. drive with your left hand, and with your right open the box, pinch#1,pinch#2, close said box, continue driving. You don’t even have to take your eyes off the road. Reverse hands if in the UK. LOL! Or if you are cursed with a manual gear shift,( automatic transmission was invented by snuffers on the go…) do what Lazarus says. just pull over.
“drive with your left hand, and with your right open the box” or vice versa, depending on which side of the car your steering wheel is…
“drive with your left hand, and with your right open the box” or vice versa, depending on which side of the car your steering wheel is… :)" it all works out in the end
Oh yes. It’s just that on my right in the car there is nowhere to put the snuff box! Actually I have found that I can cope with the German, blue plastic boxes you can get from Rajek’s when I’m driving. The lid opens easily enough and the box is wide enough that I don’t have to look to pinch. Works for me anyway.
I do use a bullet while driving and also when I’m out doing yard work or working in the veggie garden and I have dirty hands & fingernails. And when I’m driving I don’t always need a big pinch so a few hits from the bullet is fine. I have gotten where I can pack & twist the bullet with one hand. But otherwise I use either a silver or wooden box when I’m out on the town & generally just use the tins at home.
The onefortheroad boxes are good for driving when you get the hang and they loosen up a bit
Just run a hose from a 1 pound can into the air ducts and you can turn on the AC and get a good snuff!
Lazarus, that snuff bullet is the worst one you could get, doesn’t work as it should be and in a matter of days it will fall apart. The best one so far I’ve found (I have ordered all of them in the past) is the Grassleaf Lightweight Aluminium Snuff Bullet one, it has two different holes in it depending on the way you turn it and has lasted the longest. btw on some of the bullets out there you can drill the hole a bit so you get more in when you sniff.
I found I got much better performance from Toque’s bullet’s when the smaller airholes located on the on/off lever are routed out a bit. That gets rid of flash and smooths the flow making for easier, trouble free hits even with semi-moist snuffs! I swear the hits seem even bigger but I still need at least two per nostril for a decent toke. I also have a couple aftermarket aluminum bullets and the quality between them is huge. One of them I bought off ebay is great and a pleasure to use, another is a complete waste of money (and ironically more expensive :/) A good hitting bullet is a great way to snuff but a poor performing bullet will frustrate a new user for good, while nothing beats a pinch a good bullet can come in handy in certain situations for sure.
After trying several, the only one that works for me is the Dholakia bullet. The rest, including Toque, just don’t deliver enough - exactly what is the problem with making a bullet that gives a genuine pinch instead of a miniscule few grains?
The toque bullets have worked ok , but I do need to do 2 turns on each side to be enough. I got some from someplace I don’t remember; one I had to take it apart and shave the shaft down for it to turn at all. They also did not have the holes in the side making them not vary good to snuff directly from. I do like the fact that in public people don’t seem to even notice. If you pull out a tin and take a pinch everyone notices. Most of the time I can do without the attention.
I find the grass leaf bullet gives a large pinch. And as your snuff dries out, the pinch gets bigger.
Not one of my Toque bullets of 6 worked well until I drilled it out, every single one was jammed with flash to some degree. The difference in performance now is incredible and makes it a viable option. Before you relegate it to the junk drawer, take a ream of some kind or better yet a dremel to it. They simply do not work without two clear small holes in the lever mechanism going into the reservoir.
http://snuffhouse.org/?CommentID=32718 (Bullet # 25) I found a solution for get more snuff from toque bullets: I have noticed that whan you turn upside down the bullet, right to sniff, most of the snuff goes down the bullet again, it is due to dryness of toque products. If before turning the bullet you set the lever in orizzontal position, pinch still in the hole, and you can have a bigger one. In alternative you may hold the lever whit fingers and turn upside down the bullet.
And if you have to ream out the reservoir, don’t forget to blow away the dust before assembling. Or you’ll sample your first plastic snuff!
can you give a step by step description of reaming please?
@snuffster… unless you’re joking, there is… Google, for you to peruse. …and don’t mind me, I’ve been known to say a lot of useless (and sometimes useful) things, but I suspect you’re joking.
I have a cheap, plastic, silver-colored bullet that works just fine for me. The pinches are sometimes a bit small but I consider it the price I pay for the convenience. Situations where I’ve found the bullet to be ideal include: Driving, wearing gloves (I walk a lot and wear gloves to pad my palm with my walking sticks), being in a dark movie theater, using very fine or dry mixes, having wet or dirty hands, passing through metal detectors without some security guard opening my tin can and dumping half of my precious snuff out, etc… I also have a small glass vial that has a snuff spoon attached to the lid with a chain. As for spoons, I have one that attaches to my key chain and I’ve also succesfully used a small pocket knife blade and a guitar pick. If you have trouble locating a snuff spoon, don’t forget about the old salt spoons, they were once considered a mainstay dinnerware item along with the salt box. I have some snuff boxes but I’m just not much of a pincher right now, maybe later on as my snuff addiction evolves.
I tried christmas pudding in a toque bullet. I could not get it out. That is the only snuff that will not flow in a bullet. I had to put it into an old packards club package. It works great.
Well, I got some bullets in the mail, and I just don’t know… It doesn’t seem to work all that well, but maybe it’s me. It did seem the little bottle was way stuffed with snuff, can’t complain there, but I did knock some of it out, into another container, to make it go just under the neck. But it seems the small holding cell is rather small, and doesn’t want to come out with the sniff. I did ream it a little, with a fingernail file, brushing off the dust of course. Based on what I have read, with the knob point down, you turn up the bottle to fill the little hole, and then turn the knob back up, and sniff? Righ? Well, it does seem to hold a little, bit it didn’t fill the hole, and then I felt I didn’t get much more of a sniff than a few dustings. I’ll keep experimenting, maybe I am not doing it right, but then I have also read many not like the bullets for the reasons I mentioned. Now the slim bottle does make a nice pocket container, and works good for easy back of the hand lines. Tom502
Maybe one should connect a pipe from your windscreen washer. So all you do is insert the pipe in your nose and push the button. Friend of mine who was an alcoholic filled his washer bottle with cane and water. The pipe was resting underneath the dashboard. When he felt like a sip, he put the pipe in his mouth and pushed the button. Had this on his camper, Wife and kids in the back could not see what he was doing. Wife could not understand how he got drunk without drinking!!!
I phoned Tim during the week because I was also considering a bullet to use while I drive. According to him, all bullets deliver a small serving and it will only function with fine, dry snuff. So the use of a bullet is very limited. I usually spill some snuff when I pinch while in my car so I’m seriously looking for a way out.
Well, snuffing while driving… seems most cars have a cup holder of some type, or an ash tray, maybe affix a small cup, or bowl to the holder, or clean out the ash tray and use that, and just put snuff in these holders, and with then kept open, one could just reach to them and take a pinch as needed? Tom502
I have also found the bullets only work with dryish fine and medium ground snuffs. Any moisture and they’ll block up. I always have Samuel Gawith Scotch SP in mine - works a treat.
Dave, The bullets I was referring to, is the Rockit. I am totally new to the bullet thing, so I may just need to keep practice with it. I do really like the snuff though, esp the naked. Tom502
For me the bullet is totally situational and I only use it when I need to trade its advantaes for less than optimal dosing. For some of the fine powdery blends, especially American Scotches, it helps when first adjusting to using them until one gets used to sniffing the finer grinds without choking to death. I do use my bullet much less these days and really shy away from whipping it out in public settings due to some bad negative publicity on a few occassions. With that said, not all bullets are the same tho so the one I use may be totally different from the ones you have in mind. I really didn’t care at all for the one Toque acrylic bullet I’ve tried. As I posted before, I almost exclusively use Packard’s plastic snuff containers for my portable needs these days.
no one notices the bullets it looks like you are using a vicks inhaler. love my bullets then again it’s windy here which makes pinchs hurt your eyes so the bullet is very usefull.
I have a silver metal Grassleaf bullet, a red aluminium Grassleaf bullet, and a free cheap plastic bullet I got with my order from Snuff Store. The free one works best surprisingly. I have no problem with the smaller dose size. I generally use it when driving or walking and I don’t want to blow my head off in those situations!
Roderick- Thanks, your advice sounds good, and I’ll do that. I think the main prob people have, is the snuff doesn’t flow so easy, and the holding pocket is just so small. Your advice seems it would address that. Thanks, Tom502
I am still on the fence as to laying down a final conclusion on bullets. I know there are different styles of bullets too, maybe some are better designed than others. Anyway, today I took one of the bullets I have, and bored out the hole a bit. I think I did make it little bigger, but now, I am thinking that may not be the problem. I emptied out the snuff in an emply pill bottle, shook it up, to fluff it out more. I poured it back in the bullet holder, put the lid on. Did the process to fill it, but the problem I am getting, is getting the snuff to come out. I sniffed, I don’t think I need, or should need, to do a power inhale. But it’s like I didn’t get anything. I then turned it over to the back of my hand, nothing came out, but then I started tapping it, and it did come out, quite a bit really, enough that would be a good one nostril amount. So I don’t think the amount is insufficient, it just doesn’t seem to want to “vacuum” up. Maybe my sniff is too weak, and I need to close my other nostril more. I’ll keep trying, since I have these, and if I can get them to work good, it’ll be cool. But so far, it seems more work, and not working, than to just take a pinch, or line some on the hand. Sometimes what seems like good ideas to make something “easier” are actually harder and not as practical. So, we’ll see. I see no reason to get anymore bullets though. They are refillable, and I got a few now. I’ll stick with cans now. Tom502
OK, I think I have to a conclusion as to what is “wrong” here. It seems basically a design flaw. I tried it again, with a strong inhale, closing the other nostril. Nothing happens, I look at the snuff in the dosage chamber, and tap it, it is loose enough. The problem here, is there is no ventalation, if that is the right word. It reminds me of my younger years when I had the experience of smoking a certain substance in a water pipe, sometimes called a “bong”, and this had what we called a “carberater”, however it’s spelled, that would allow for opposing air flow. This bullet cannot move up the snuff upon inhalation, as it has no air flow to push it. This would work, I think, if the closed up bottom of the dosage chamber had a small hole, enough for air flow, but not enough for snuff to easily flow through, and a small hole on the top of the bottom container portion, so the oppossing air could enter the container, and then propell the chambered snuff into the nostril with a sligh inhale. But, the current bullet design that I have, does not have that, so one can inhale all they can, and the snuff won’t budge. I don’t think I have the tools to fix this, so I don’t know if I will, but I am pretty confident I am seeing the issue correctly. Tom502
The small breathing hole on the side of your bullet may be blocked. Check, there is a small hole on the reverse side of the tap/
Well, it does have a “hole” on the side of the cap, opossite the turning knob, but it doesn’t seem to go anywhere. And when I blow into the top of it, it’s totally airtight. Maybe it’s not aligned? I don’t know… but I did fix it. Now the challenge is to get a good nasal spray-like, and not a lung inhalation. This is what I did, and it was rather simple and only involved making 2 small holes in the removable cap. I took the smallest nail I could find, maybe 1/8 inch. Would have used a smaller one, but that was all I could find ruffling through the drawers. I use a small vice-grip pliers, any pliers would have worked, and put the nail in it. The plastic was not hard to bore through. I 1st put a small hole through the bottom the dosage chamber, it’s small enough to allow air, and not drop out the snuff, and few dusts might come out, and then on the side of the cap above the screw-on area, with the same nail I put a hole. Now when I blew into the top, air flowed. So, I worked it as it works, and did a nose pull, and puff, right in. Now controlling the sniff power, to not get a lung inhale, is to be done. But it works. Before, it was airtight. I don’t see any obvious misalignments, perhaps the back of the turning knob is obstructing the hole in the side, it is right at the opposite end of the knob. I don’t know, but it seems ok now. Tom502
I use the small acrylic bullet that snuff store has. I have bought many other bullets (the acrylic ones from Mr. Snuff, the metal one from Mr. Snuff, the Dholakia bullets, and even the metal Posh bullet), and none of them work as well as it. I suggest purchasing one of these if you are looking for a good bullet. ~Snuffy
Oh, and here is the page for them. http://www.snuffstore.co.uk/snuff-dispenser-original-perspex-p-187.html?cPath=48\\_65 ~Snuffy
Thanks, but really, I think I prefer the pinch method. Having to turn it up this way and that, I don’t see it being easier. I think I turned my bullet into a power hitter. Tom502
