I finally figured out how to work my snuff bullet, and I absolutely love it. My favorite snuff-taking method now for sure. It amazes me how it dispenses the perfect amount of snuff. However, out of curiosity, does anyone know if it’s possible to tweak it and make it dispense a little more snuff?

B

With a drill press and a vice and skill it can be done. I wouldn’t want my fingers getting damaged. you could use pliers and a hand drill if you add a stop to the bit so you don’t go too deep. You may also want to widen the draft hole on the side. Good luck. Go slow and use a cutting fluid for best results.

You also could use a dremel tool with a some special carving or grinding bit

R

@basement_shaman Damn haha, that’s pretty good. You ever tried it?

B

@RailroadMills No I only use a Posh Bullet and that has Dholakia Medicated No.10 in it. A small dose is all you need. I mostly use the box car method or a spoon, There are only a few snuffs I pinch to warm up between the fingers to get the best out of them. I had drill a few million holes in things over my life time. I am confident I could tweak a bullet.

R

@basement_shaman Can you take the snuff out of a pre-filled bullet, and replace it with any other snuff of your choice?

R

Probably a stupid question, but I’m still a newbie to bullets.

B

Never had one

M

@RailroadMills - yes.  Just unscrew the bottom of the bullet and fill it with the snuff of your choice.  In fact, if you get pre-filled bullets from Toque, they cram so much snuff into the bullet that it won’t even work right unless you unscrew it and empty some of it out into a different container first.  I just bought empty bullets and fill them with whatever snuff I want to carry with me that day.

R

@MarkM Thank you. And yes that has happened to me with Toque.

M

I ordered my first bullet today. Just want to try it.

C

I have one of the small acrylic Toque bullets and use it only at work when discretion/speed is an issue.otherwise, i prefer to pinch… I’d like to get a few more because those little plastic bullets are notoriously difficult to clean and hang on to scents so best to dedicate to similar scents. Maybe not an issue with metal ones.

S

I got a 2 pack off eBay, use it for work, refilling as needed. They have their place when discretion is called for, rest of the time they’re pretty much useless imo. Oh and nice when driving.

M

That are exactly the reasons I like to try one . at the office and on the road .

1

good to have a bullet or 2 in the pocket

Y

I have some Toque bullets and I can’t seem to get it right.

If I sniff light, nothing comes out, if I sniff hard enough for the snuff to come out it hits me in the back of the throat.

I end up just using it like a tapbox.

Is there any trick that I’m missing ?

5

Nope, you’ve got it sussed - use it like a tap box Some people do like using a bullet for snuff, but most don’t. The snuff is probably better condition in a tin too.

S

The trick is to get a snuffbox and pinch, just as quick and discreet if you know what you’re doing. The only bullets I have are for my guns, the others are designed for illicit substances.

Y

I keep trying for different delivery methods other than pinching. I don’t trust that my fingers are clean enough to be contaminating the snuff that is going in my nose.

I thought I would like tap-boxes, but I find them to be a disappointment as well, sometimes the snuff comes out and sometimes not, and sometimes too much, no real control.

S

I just, for the life of me, cannot understand worrying about ‘contaminating’ snuff while pinching. Not that I have any problem with people who do worry about such things, mind you. I’ve seen plenty of people come through the forum with the same worry. I pinch everything and my incidence of colds and such is near zero. I just don’t understand.

Y

@sandwhichIsles  I think it is an ocd-type thing. I know its probably fine, but I have an aversion to it, especially if I ate.

S

@yisraeldov  I’m with you.  I need to have clean fingers to take a pinch.  If I haven’t recently washed my hands, I’ll tap out a dose on my thumbnail instead.  At home I use a little dish to pinch from so I don’t “contaminate” my tin.
Silly me, I’m sure.

B

@yisraeldov I heard of people modifying those bullets by making the draft hole larger.

S

Any of the holes can be drilled bigger.

For the acrylic (plastic) one, avoid using a drill (it’ll drill too fast and can melt it). Drill the holes by hand (use locking pliers to twist the bit). If you’re really going bigger, drill one size at a time or the bit will get stuck. With some of the plastic bullets, the holes do not line up and boring them out is necessary for the bullet to function the way it’s supposed to. Finally, take it apart and blow it out really good. You can have your bullet fine-tuned and customized in less than five minutes!

U

Not really, it’s possible to enlarge the dosing chamber slightly, but not by much. If you enjoy the snuff bullets, you should check out the Snuffmaster. It doses both nostrils at once with the push of a button.

V

I just started using my bullets again for a change, and I’ve found I really appreciate them.  First thing to do, of course, is check that the snuff actually works in a bullet - finer grinds are best, moist clumpy snuff just won’t drop into the dispensing chamber at all.  So some snuffs will always require a different type of container.  Second, there was a tip I read on here ages ago for increasing the amount, without having to attack the bullet with the supplies of your nearest hardware store. Fill the chamber the usual way, but then hold the bullet upside-down between thumb and forefinger of one hand, and rotate the chamber “handle” with the other - the snuff in the chamber should drop out and be held in the bullet by your thumb.  Then, turn the chamber back the other way to receive more snuff, rotate, and, still keeping the bullet between thumb and forefinger, turn the bullet the right way up.  You now have a “double-dose” which will give you a good amount as a pinch tapped out onto the back of the hand or whatever.  It’s very simple but my explanation might appear a bit over-complicated.  Sorry - the longer I make this post, the more time i can avoid Lady Ga-Ga on the Superbowl half-time show!  Anyway give it a go - it works well and is quick once you get the hang of it.

J

i find if i just barely breathe in i can use one chamber full for both nostrils i can do it with cheeta as long as i flick the chamber first

M

metal bullets work good for me.
b-(

M

when i use them.pinch prefered.
:-"

S

Regarding the Toque snuff bullets, are these reusable? I’m looking to get more acrylic bullets and to place a Toque order but could kill two birds with one stone.

N

Twist bottom off.

A

@SammyD13 absolutely. I was at one of the kids’ plays last night discreetly enjoying cheeta with a hint of highland ice from a refilled toque bullet They aren’t perfect but they do work. On my two I had to open the air hole - not what they call it on plastic but they were sealed shut by what I’d call casting flash

T

At this point, I only use my bullet when driving or when I need to be extra discreet, and it’s usually filled with either Navy plain, WE Garrett scotch, or a fine British snuff like WOS or McChrystals. Makes things easier. Most of the time, I pinch from a German silver snuffbox.

P

I have some of the acrylic bullets. I found the size of the dosing hole to be just way too small. So I took out my numbered drill bit assortment and opened up the hole. I didn’t even use a drill motor. Just vise grips  and the drill bit and gently carved out the opening careful not to go any deeper than the existing hole. Problem I did encounter was, I opened up into the hole that goes through the direction indicated lever. I quickly remedied that by slicing a section out of an o-ring and plugging the hole.

I like these bullets. You can’t smoke in public without scorn and ridicule. If you dip or chew there’s the spitting issue. I can use my snuff in the middle of the grocery store and no one even notices.

B

easier none craft based solution. When dosing with a bullet rotate the dose chamber two or three times while still held pointing bullet down with finger covering the blow hole ( ). When all two or three loads are in the snuffing chamber close the dosing hole so when the bullet is in the ready position it is resting on top of the closed dosage chamber. I found that works well and is easier to do then explain.

V

@bob Wise and simple. I’ll try it someday. That irritatingly tiny size of the dosing hole makes me really think these things were originally designed for some other substances.

B

yeah they are just like most things you find labeled snuff spoons are not for snuff.

A

How about the snuff STRAWS lol shaped like a vacuum cleaner. Cast pot metal left over from wwII slab heaps dipped in plastic ‘plating’ - 10 for a dollar!

B

https://mashable.com/2016/08/05/cocaine-paraphernalia-ads/ you mean this kind of nonsense?

A

I’m not clicking on that link but sounds about right! Just search snuff on ebay

S

@bob excellent idea!

A

I was curious if anyone else has had an issue with the “Glass Bullet Clear” from mrsnuff.com the air ports on my knob were not even drilled through into the snuff chamber. I tried working @ it with a drill bit but its still very hard to get a good sniff from it. What are my options? The rest of the glass bullet has a decent build quality but my knob is absolutely AWFUL

S

@anewamericansnuffer every acrylic/glass bullet I’ve gotten was drilled wrong in some way. For the fix I used drill bits held with locking pliers, and hand-drilled them a little at a time (using successively thicker bits). There are 3 holes that need to be wide enough: the air hole (tiny one in the side), the nose hole, the the hole in the revolving cylinder which captures the snuff. Depending on how bad the workmanship is, they may all need to be drilled out more. Patience is key, though. Try to drill too fast, and the plastic will break. Make sure to blow everything out or wash well, or you could have a bit of plastic tickling your pituitary. The revolving mechanism can be difficult to turn, too. If that’s the case, use some mineral oil on the rubber gasket.

A

Thanks for ur input sammy, Ill try to bore out the two intake holes on the knob, maybe get fine fine sand paper and knock off the sharp edges from around the knob, the rest of my acyllic top is fine is just that shitty knob

A

can u recommend a good quality snuffer?

S

The metal ones on Amazon are pretty good, I think. Toque bullets seem to work pretty well, too. I have reused those many times.

A

Ahh, good info since i should have a toque bullet comin with my 50g of rustica soon

on another not, I have bored out the knob intake holes a bit and it seems to really be working great now. Still, It’s unsettling to get a snuff bullet and the air holes arent even drilled through into the snuff chamber

B

Good for work if you don’t have much time, toque ones are good although ive had the nobs break off over time.  I’d only recommend a bullet for work or for beginners otherwise i dont see them being the way to go.

A

With the Toque ones I just push through the holes with a paper clip. Ta-da!

A

Yea, seems i had the same issue with each bullet both mrsnuffs and toques. I was able to bore em out a bit but i still have to twist the knob 3 times while shaking to fill the chamber enough for a good hit. I grabbed a nice metal bullet off amazon that should be here soon, hopefully Its got a decent sized dosage chamber

B

Just went to refill an acrylic bullet with 6P Gold Rush and found the snuff seems to have attacked the inside of the chamber. It used to be clear and now resembles frosted glass. It feels pitted. Has anyone else fund this?

C

Menthol snuffs always seem to attack any acrylic bullet/container in my experience.

B

Thanks Cappadoc.

T

@yisraeldov I ordered a bullet from toquesnuff and it arrived without the holes punctured to allow air into the passageway. I punched through the two holes with a paperclip, and now it works better.

A

Curious: how many actually use bullets after having snuffed for many months/years? I thought I’d use them all the time but after my first 3 months I haven’t considered using them for the past year. Even with the holes opened up I seldom got the delivery I want and the snuff dries out.

V

I never considered giving bullet a go, but was gifted one two years ago. Had a sniff or two and wasn’t excited at all. Wasn’t in use since then, all covered in dust on a shelf.

R

@ar47 same here. I’ve got one bullet that I used a short time then forgot about it. I don’t see much use in it unless, and this is a stretch, one was in a situation with very high winds and no cover. They really seem to be designed for drug use. I wonder if you had one with all dimensions perhaps tripled in size if that would be better.

B

I use mine at work and that’s it. Not taking a spoon with me and since I clean stuff too many chemicals and germs on my hands to feel good about a pinch.

B

Just got my first bullet today. The first few whiffs went straight to my throat.  However, I found that if I hold the bullet at an angle so that the nose hole is directed more to the outside part of my nostril rather than straight up my nose, I can get a nice whiff without it hitting my throat.

I thought I’d use bullets for driving, but they honestly feel like more of a hassle than just taking a pinch.  To pinch while driving, I set a smaller tin that I’ve decanted into onto a flat surface like my phone on my lap.  That way I can open the tin at a stop light, then have a surface to set the open tin on so that it won’t spill while driving.  And if it does spill, I’ve only lost the 2 grams or so I’ve decanted.  Maybe I’ll a bullet while I’m working, who knows.

T

I’ve just ordered a bullet from Mendo Mulchers (https://mendomulchers.com/product/snuff-bullet/tobacco-snuff-bullet/). Anybody tried one of these?

Z

Bullets are for coke. Hands, fingers and spoons are for snuff. Just my old fashioned opinion.

B

I find them very useful when dog walking, can use them one handed whatever the weather, and provide the perfect delivery system to combat the aftermath of bagging a particularly odious sh**t.

G

I just got a small glass/acrylic one.  There’s no draft hole, or whatever the hole is called that faces you when you use it

Dumb question, but is it advisable to use a needle to poke through it and how deep a hole?

Cheers

A

@Gormur if it’s like the Toque ones, you just need a paper clip. There is a hole pre-drilled, but on most all of them it just isn’t drilled all the way through. So a firm push by hand through with the straightened paper clip cleared the hole for me just fine, and then the bullet is profoundly more useful (still not useful enough for me but YMMV)

G

@ar47 Cool.  I did that with a very small nail and it worked, well the hole did anyway.  I’m having trouble figuring out how this is supposed to work.  I don’t think it’s meant to be difficult

EDIT: I finally got it.  Mine is only 3ml so it took a minute to get it just right, cheers!

G

I got it to work but it doesn’t always hold snuff in the chamber.  Either it’s flimsy or I missed something technical.  Also, the snuff doesn’t rocket out when I release the hole and slightly turn the dial, so I have to use it like a tube snuffer

V

@Gormur, that’s how the thing actually works - like a tube snuffer. It doesn’t eject or rocket out the snuff. Main drawbacks - the tiny dose it dispenses and incompatibility with moist and coarse snuffs. I find it’s most efficient with medicated and super strong snuffs like Madras or Toque USA W&H. Just tried it (used probably first time this year) with my homemade fine dry mentholated and was suprised how satisfying this delivery method is (despite of ridiculously small dose).

Snuffmaster is more sophisticated, but still very basic multipurpose device, more convenient to use (compatible with all types of snuff, dispenses larger doses, serves both nostrils simultaneously) which can be used as a snuffbox, as a dispenser for dosing out two doses on the back of your hand, and as a double-bullet, serving both nostrils at a time. Inventor’s thread: https://snuffhouse.com/discussion/8083/what-is-the-snuffmaster-ultimate-snuff-experience/p1

If you are interested in a spring-propelled snuff ejector, here it is: https://www.schnupfdosn.de/en-gb/home

G

@volunge I think that clears it up, thanks.  I watched a couple videos where they had their nose close to the hole but not touching it which is what I have to do in order to get anything out of it

It’s working better today.  I think the chamber being small limits it, so it’s not consistent dosage-wise

J

Yes, bullets are great thing when you need a quick hit. Indeed the Toque bullets are too small imo. Maybe there are already some larger bullets available on the market?

G

@Johano Mine is small but there are 5ml ones; bigger than my 3ml bullet.  This thing isn’t working at all.  It clogs so fast you get 1, maybe 2 hits if you’re lucky before it clogs right up

The glass part, where the snuff goes may be stuck in there unless I find a tool to take it out with.  It’s fun to mess around with but it seems almost useless.  Maybe I’ll get it to work again like it did when I first got it
