You might like to know that we now have the best selection of McChrystal’s in the USA right here: McChrystal’s. This was manufactured in the McChrystal’s factory last Monday by the snuff maestro Carl, shipped on Tuesday and is now here 8 days later. It does not come any fresher. Included are those difficult to come by flavors Clove, Violet, Highland Ice and English Menthol, as well as the old favorites OnG, Apricot, Mild Lemon, Anisette, Raspberry, Supermint and Jip. We also have X-Large 21g tins in Apricot, Raspberry and OnG. Enjoy. Dave
Hi folks: we just received another super-factory fresh shipment of McChrystal’s. This time we loaded up on the Bulk O&G, plus all flavors are now in small tins (4.4g) as well as a significantly larger selection in the XL tins. My favorite addition to the XL line is Hops Stammheimer Hopfen Schnupf. They made it just for us! Enjoy. Thanks Dave
That’s excellent for those in the States, but I don’t understand McChrystals pricing. Their own website offers 200g of snuff direct for 25 pounds plus postage, which at the current exchange rate is over 41 dollars. Yet they are able to ship it across the pond and allow Mr Snuff to sell it on at only 35 bucks ? They would get a lot more of my business if they offered large tins of their snuff for sale in the U.K. - I love their Clove, Raspberry and S’Nuff but it’s ridiculously expensive purchasing it in those small tins. It seems strange that a British company has a much bigger range of products available in the States than in Britain !
Yep, McChrystal’s must have a different sort of math than the rest of us. I got 400g of Clove some time ago for £15, which was about $24 at the time, and that included shipping. So how it can be £25 for 200g there and $35 for 200g at Mr Snuff, is beyond me.
BradMajors/Leman: Perhaps the UK tobacco taxes are higher. Perhaps Mr. Snuff gets a better price/qty break by buying a LOT more qty than a single individual does (economy of scale) …see what price you can get on fifty 200g lots.
Nicotine Rush seems to carry the same McCrystals offerings in the 8.75g tins I buy that Mr Snuff does. So I question the “best selection in the USA” claim.
Why can we not get bigger cans of S’nuff?
Z_2K: good point. This was a continuation of an old thread that I just added to. Tom pretty much has them all too…except Hops in XL! (my personal favorite). BradMajors: the reason we have a better selection than the UK is because I begged and pleaded so hard to get certain snuff flavors that were sporadic blended and shipped to us here in the US. Karl (master blender) obliged, bless his heart! Also the reason we compete well with McChrystal’s themselves is because: a.we buy so much snuff from them; b. he deliberately does not undercut his distributors and retailers, which of course as the manufacturer he could easily do. The manufacturer typically sets the minimum recommended retail price which in the US they can actually enforce, should they so desire. You are free to sell for more than that price as a retailer, but not less. hope that helps. Dave
Big Mick: that is a damn good question. I asked McChrystal’s to send bigger cans of S’nuff in my last order and received yet more of the 4.4g. It is frustrating. I too am a big fan of S’nuff and MUCH prefer the larger tins. I will try to get to the bottom of it. Maybe they’ll do it in the XL if I beg!
I think it’s great the McChrystal’s selection is growing in the US!! I’ve become a real fan of their SP and Mild Lemon. Off topic slightly but I noticed Dave has bulk Wilson’s available. It was nice to see that on the Mr. Snuff site too!!
Dave, I know it’s almost heretical, but I think I prefer S’nuff to Tom Buck. Tom Buck was my first snuff tin, so it has some sentimental power going for it.
I like S’nuff more than Tom Buck too.
Never tried S’nuff, for those that have and who might have also tried McChrystal’s SP, how do the two compare?
I prefer the SP but the S’Nuff is pretty good too.
Thanks ermtony, I suppose I’ll just have to give it a try, what’s one more snuff in the already expansive snuff collection,
S’nuff and the SP have a very similar scent and grind with S’nuff having a stronger scent that I just cant place but its a very lovely tobacco flavour with a sweet citrusy taste. not a sharp citrus like bergamot but sweet like candied oranges and pairs well with the tobacco. The SP is a little plain for me and lacks much citrus at all and has a metal taste almost. its a fresh tin too by the date on the bottom it was packed only last month so idk what might be causing that. Its not bad but nothing to write home about I think its just not McCs specialty. They are however very good with the medicated. Id say though S’nuff is very well done and good for repeated pinching.
So who is Dave with the McChrystal’s snuff?
@tboyer Dave Anderson AKA Mr.Snuff. McChrystal has a limited range they can sell direct .https://www.mcchrystals.co.uk/ And they will be releasing more flavor to the USA. in the soon future. free shipping over 15 pounds that is $19.50 currently.
You can get most McChrystal snuff At http://mcchrystalsusa.com/ they also have free shipping over $20.00 I email Mc Chrystal and he said this is not his store. I compared wording on the points policy and had determined that this is part of the Dave Anderson monopoly. Mr Snuff, Snuffstore UK, McChrystal USA, Larmor corp, Nachanzar and I wouldn’t put it past him to use other names. It a niche market and he has cornered it well.
@basement_shaman What boggles me is that they are cookie cutter websites… doesn’t make sense to make a mcchrystalusa.com that has the same bells and whistles as MrSnuff, just a limited selection to mcchrystals … just seems odd.
@Pompeius Makes perfect sense . Hey look a web store I can avoid MS. Meanwhile back at MS headquarters. We hook another one, the fishy took the bait. The biggest cost of snuff is the handling, then shipping, then packaging, and finally the product. I was having a conversation with a fellow in SA hes gets taxi & NSTU at the corner store for $0.50 go figure. :-??
