My guess would be to leave that part out. In pretty sure Rodrick would leave that part out.
Yeah your right, we don’t want them using it to stop more packages rather than encouraging a change in policy.
Roderick maybe try not to bluntly acknowledge our corrupt government lackeys directly this time ahaha I’ve always wanted to speak my mind to them, its almost like telling your shitty boss to F#*k off.
Now I can honestly tell somebody otherwise when they tell me all tobacco companies are evil
Well that’s just great. Australia Post lost my package, supposedly it was marked as delivered today but I didn’t receive anything not even a card. So now Australia Post is doing an investigation into where the package has gone which will take 10 business days so 2 weeks, great! I’m just going to order some more toque from Mrsnuff, so that will most likely get here first. agh I really wanted that Rustica and finally try Spanish Gem.
The issue is now what to do… try and make some homemade snuff lol I’m almost out of options besides cigarettes, might try vaping some tobacco geez AUSTRALIAS GREAT AINT IT.
$97.35 for the tax basically down the toilet I could have bought a ton of snuff for that and have it arrive sooner.
That sucks. Sorry to hear that. Hope they find it. Could it have possibly been stolen somehow?
Its possible although we live in a pretty good neighborhood, if it was stolen the only person really that could have was the delivery man. Went I received the tax notice I believe the contents were labels as imported cigars, I’ll have to wait and see what comes of the investigation. Even if the package is missing I doubt they will refund the cost of the package with the tax included
Good news, my order finally got here, turns out it wasn’t lost. Somebody at Australia post used the same tracking/process number that another package also was given. Well I’m happy as a tornado in a trailer park :) going to be a good day! Happy Snuffing
Hi, I am in Melbourne and looking for some snuff. I ran out of my personal stock. Please let me know if anyone around would have some I could acquire locally.
Hello! I am in Sydney. I have just started taking snuff yesterday
Before ordering I phoned Customs to check — any snuffing tobacco above 50g total will be taxed heavily.
— I do not know, and dread to find out, if this means that I can order in 50g amounts at whatever frequency I like or…
@Aida welcome to SnuffHouse. I believe it is very dependent on who you get at customs whether they decide to tax you or not, I have been taxed one time before on under 50g of snuff although most of my orders are within the 100-250g range. One technique I found that works quite well some of the time, if you buy certain snuffs like for example butterscotch, raspberry, licorice, vanilla, chocolate food scented snuffs they seem to get past easier, I have had two of these orders stopped by customs and let through without tax, they probably assumed it was candy.
You will have to decide whether it is worth your while to decline the tax, quite often if you refuse the tax and just make a new order you will save quite a lot of money. For example unfortunately one of my last orders of 115g was stopped and they were asking $97.35 for Duty and GST, I paid around $60 for the order. I decided to pay the tax due to me running out of my supply and not wanting to get back on the dreaded cigarettes, otherwise I would have refused the tax in a heartbeat. Even if my snuff does get stopped it works out a hell of a lot cheaper for me than even the cheapist cigarretes.
I wouldn’t dwell on the tax, you have a lot higher chance of it getting through then them taxing you, I read somewhere it averages out around 1/10 gets stopped into Australia by customs.
I am in Sydney Australia. I am a regular snuff user. I started off with Bernard Fichtennadel 10g but i found heavy sneezing and severe blocked nose with this brand. I used it for 2 years finally choosing Gawith 10grams Apricot flavour in 2015. I have used it since March 2015. I had no issues in importing this brand from the UK but my package i ordered from snuffhouse.co.uk on the 17th of February didnt turn up. The customs havent written to me either asking for anything. I ordered a another package on the 13th of March via tracked and signed for postage and that has arrived here in Sydney but only the devil knows when i will get it. I have run out of all my stock and now on my knees. since 4 days i have snuffed a grain. If customs need money…take the damn thing, just let the snuff go. I am going to call them tomorrow morning. Its pathetic that in Australia we dont have snuff shops. Its crazy. All of Europe have them but not here. Madness.
@Adrian I am in Adelaide and for what it is worth this is my experience of importing for personal use. All of my packages (about 8 in total from various snuff sellers in the US and UK) have made it through except one in the last three months.
The one that got seized by Customs, I paid about $40AUD in tax on it so it doubled in price overall. IIRC the duty is $770AUD per kilo. On average I figured if I get caught with that frequency then I should be ok. I generally order anywhere up to 100 gms at a time to the same address.
With my packages I have found that they can take anywhere up to a month to get here. Why I don’t know, particularly as they are not getting taken by Customs. On the positive side I have had packages arrive after two weeks. I figure if I keep a steady ordering of small amounts up I can generally have enough of a supply on hand to keep me going.
@Aida welcome and good luck with Customs.

Hi, just joined this group.
Been using Swedish snus for a few years but only been using snuff for about a month.
Live in Perth.

So, 77 cents a gram on ALL tobacco products? And that’s applied whether or not it’s imported or grown locally? It adds up to more than a dollar a cigarette. I’m surprised that more people don’t use snuff. With those outrageous taxes, it’s by far the cheapest form of tobacco, considering that even if you’re a pig, you probably won’t use more than five grams a day, which weighs the same as two or three cigarettes. Maybe that’s why they discourage it. It would lose them revenue. On the plus side, it means that there’s hardly any difference in the price between the cheapest economy bargain snuff and the most expensive artisan snuff - you have to add the 77 cents regardless. I guess you’d want to go with ultra dry high nic snuffs to get your money’s worth.
@JarkartaBox it works to be around 83c Tax plus 10%GST, so all up around the 90c mark in tax. The tax is on all purchase tobacco, Australia does not grow tobacco anymore it is all imported. Its also illegal for us to grow tobacco and each plant will cost you around $80,000 AUD in fines. Last time I checked it was around $30 for a pack of cigarretes or around $40 for 30g of rolling tobacco.
@Aamon, last time I was there, I remember buying some pipe tobacco. I rationed myself to a pipe a day, it came out at something like almost ten bucks a bowl. Luckily I managed to bring in the 50 gram limit of Dholakia White, so I had something to snuff. But yes, outrageous. No wonder there’s a black market for illegal tobacco now.
