I’ve been in NZ for five years and the only snuff users I’ve come across are those I convert… and even then they’re only casual snuffers (Like whenever I’m around with my large tin on wof Queens extra) It would be interesting to meet fellow snuffers in NZ
Same situation as Australia mate. Snuffing is all but forgotten thanks to smokeless tobacco bans sponsored by big cig tobacco.
We’ve had always had several from each country as members here over the years, but rarely more than one or two at a time have been very active members. Snuff is actually legal over the counter in NZ, so you’d think there would be more; but Australia has the bigger population overall, so we get a few more of them.
It’s available over the counter in NZ but wow is it expensive or what. $9.90 for a 10g tin of wow crumbs of comfort. If I get it from MrSnuff, I can get over 8 or so for about $30 (That includes postage) The only thing is that it takes 15 to 20 days to arrive. A few months ago I get stopped by a cop because when I was sitting in the car outside a shop he saw me having some snuff and he was certain I was doing some sort of illegal drug - almost had to give a blood sample to prove I wasn’t. (A cop at the station was from England and he’d “heard” of snuff before.)
I thought I might bump up this thread. I haven’t tried to buy any snuff over the counter yet, I always assumed there simply wouldn’t be any. Maybe I should go for a walk on Friday and check. But I hear that the range won’t be that great even if there’s any. So far Mr Snuff has worked really well and it only takes ten days now to arrive.
My order for Straubinger has been retained at the customs. Since December the exception allowed as gift for personal use has been cancelled and we have a massive tax to pay for importing. I didn’t go further to find any information on the topic, but are there some kiwis here? Some way to find anything else than Wilsons of Sharrow on this island? My last pouch is running empty and I’m scared…

Well I had a very clear letter from the customs 
Had more than 300$ to pay for having my tobacco brought home, or nothing for having it destroyed

Oh. 50g is still ok then. So that’ll be my order limit from @MrSnuff . For now I’m still covered anyway but good to know.
Ok, I read that wrong. So we have to pay duty and GST on any amount we order. 50g is only if you bring it in from a trip…so that’ll stop any overseas orders for me then. How much did you order for them to claim $300.00?

Anyway I’m discussing with Graeme from Gentlemen’s corner, to see if it’s possible to import something else that the 12 horrible W&S snuffs that everyone has here. Just the time to experiment myself the craft of snuff, because I don’t want to stop because of stupid commie regulations…
So they want to charge a dollar per gram basically? Stuff that! I’m in Palmerston North and although we have a couple of tobacconists here, I have yet to check if they sell any snuff at all. I don’t like WoS snuffs and I imagine even if they have them, they’ll be pretty old. 15 dollars for a 10g tin would be pretty steep so I haven’t had a look at those shops so far. Might be worth a walk down the road after all…
