Any other Snuffers from Australia?

A

I know this has been asked before, but it’s been a few years since I visited here. So how many snuff takers here from Australia?

G

Hi Dave. I’m from Sydney. Nice to meet you.

Hi Graeme,

I’m from Bathurst NSW. First tried snuff back in 1982, and taken it on and off since then. How long have you been into snuff?

Hi Dave.

Good to hear from you.

Im from Sydney but I run a tours business in Indonesia, so I come and go.

I first tried snuff aged 13. My great uncle snuffed a lot. He gave me a pinch and ot just about blew my head off. But i preserved and eventually stopped sneezing and enjoyed it. I was an early cigarette smoker, so have always enjoyed tobacco. These days I snuff about 15 gr a day. I also smoke a pipe.

I most enjoy the Fribourg and Treyer snuffs from England but I’ve been making my own snuff for a while. It’s easy to buy tobacco leaf in Indonesia and I just mill it in a coffee grinder. It’s fun and very good.

I find nicotine very stimulating mentally and physically. Tbh it’s a turn on.

It would be interesting to hear your snuff story.

Best wishes,

Graeme

Hi again Graeme,

As I was saying before, I first tried snuff in 1982, it was my last year in High School and a friend of mine was with me on a visit to Sydney. We smoked cigars and were in a tobacconist and spotted a rather large range of snuff on display in the shop. Our first thoughts were that we could be like The Scarlet Pimpernel. Snuff was cheap and we bought several tins. I took it on and off for some years.

I’ve had a break from snuff for about 6 years and got back into it like never before earlier this year.

I have made some of my own snuff only the other day from rope tobacco. That’s really good that you can get tobacco at a good price from Indonesia. Is it difficult to bring back into Australia?

Interesting!

I have been taking snuff most of my life.

Legally it’s expensive to bring in snuff to Australia. The duty is $1700 per kilo. I avoid paying that by not declaring it. So far I’ve got away with it.

Cheers,

Graeme

How has the snuff you made yourself turned out?

G

Im really pleased with it. I could never have predicted that it would be so good.

It’s a great result.

The best are the coffee flavoured, the cigar, the Latakia, the Borkum Riff cherry one. I’m going to start making floral snuffs, imitating some of my favourite F&T floral snuffs. I have bought the essences - bergamot, violet, geranium, etc.

So far the snuffs I’ve made are plain but with a good nicotine hit and nose burn. They are totally satisfying. I don’t add anything.

Cheers,

Graeme
