Why Panic? MrSnuff says...

General, Ettan and Roda Lacket are the ones I use. I think they may all be Swedish Match products.

Okay so can some one explain to me exactly wha this “PACT” crap is. I tried to google it with no joy

@Kincaidc: click here PACT

We support you all the way, Dave! Hey! It was your ‘Beat PACT’ sale that helped a lot of us stockpile a few more lifetimes worth of snuff. Still, you know we’ll keep buying more, even when we’re sitting here surrounded by pounds of the stuff

Dave! You are a lifesaver. Perhaps my scotch order was premature, but at least I have enough Rooster til I’m dead :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey Dave, I just discovered 5photo and Sun snuffs which I bought from Nicotine Rush. Do you think that you will be able to get a hold of these brands?

Whilst this doesn’t affect me, being in the UK, it’s really nice to see retailers keeping their customers informed! I’m glad to hear you’ll probably be able to stay in business… best wishes!

I think most of us will continue to support you Dave. My orders have been split between you and Tom for a while now, and if Tom goes out of the business, I’ll be sad to see him go, but I’ll have to turn to you. I’d really prefer if I didn’t have to wait 2 to 3 weeks to order snuff from the Northerner for it to get here, and be limited by their selection. Even in NYC, a tin of Pöschl snuff isn’t more than $3, so I can’t imagine NY state tax on snuff is that high. I just don’t know how the logistics are going to work out between me and UPS, seeing as I often work afternoon into the evening. Still, I’ll find a way to make it work and continue to support a (relatively) local snuff retailer.

will your work let you receive packages there???

I will continue to be a customer Dave, unless it just becomes impossible to do. It would be great if you could stock swedish snus, I know being able to combine two orders and two shipping costs into one would sure help everyone out. I am also wondering about the 5Photo snuffs, I really do love them, just ordered extra from Tom to make sure I don’t run out. They are wonderful snuffs and I hope you will be stocking them, if not I guess I will just have to pick another snuff to replace the Golden with.

Nope, I work at a retail store. I can’t just leave the floor to sign for a package, and also don’t have a locker at the moment, so I’ve no place to put it for the day. Oh, well. I’ll work something out. Perhaps someone else will be home, and simply think I’m ordering liquor. Somehow, I doubt my parents would be impressed by snuff, although I’ll simply have to live with the situation until I get an apartment for uni.

You have my full support. Just one suggestion (I am sure others had suggested already): Can’t the shipment be unmarked or marked as something else?

Under PACT it would be a felony to not properly label cigarettes and smokeless tobacco with the required statement.
Sec. 2A: ‘(b) Shipping and Packaging- ‘(1) REQUIRED STATEMENT- For any shipping package containing cigarettes or smokeless tobacco, the delivery seller shall include on the bill of lading, if any, and on the outside of the shipping package, on the same surface as the delivery address, a clear and conspicuous statement providing as follows: ‘CIGARETTES/SMOKELESS TOBACCO: FEDERAL LAW REQUIRES THE PAYMENT OF ALL APPLICABLE EXCISE TAXES, AND COMPLIANCE WITH APPLICABLE LICENSING AND TAX-STAMPING OBLIGATIONS’.
I mailed some snus to TOM502 via USPS today. they had no problem shipping it. not sure what PACT is but I dont see the problem

Kincaidc: PACT hasn’t yet been signed into law, and won’t kick in until 90 days after Obama signs it. Obviously, you’re not going to have an issue with a law prior to it being implemented. Besides that, PACT prohibits commercial mailing of tobacco via USPS. Private citizens can exchange tobacco freely through it, although I heard you can only send 10 tobacco containing packages per month.

Well hell then I say Tom at nicotine rush you have plenty of people on this forum to help you distribute your snuff without a problem. send me your orders and Ill distribute my 10 per month every month free of charge. Im sure evey one else would too.

Actually it doesn’t prohibit commerical mailings entirely. Business to business is ok. Business to consumer for test, research, samples, etc, purposes are ok. Customer to business for returns is ok. All non commerical is ok. Also, unless the USPS hires a team of tobacco sniffing dogs and dog handlers (which they won’t becuase the Senete removed any funding for such things from the bill) there is no practical way of checking every package that goes through the mails. Even if they did hire tobacco sniffing dogs, they’d mostly be finding legally mailed cigars. However, if Mr. Snuff is going to be operating (and advertising) an open transparent business, the eyes will be on him. His shipping records would probably be subject to inspection.

Well Sum Bitch most of the snuff I order can be considered a “test” since I have never tried most of them before
“Private citizens can exchange tobacco freely through it, although I heard you can only send 10 tobacco containing packages per month.”
What is the source for this? I keep reading this here and there, but there is nothing in the PACT bill that states anything of the sort. Did the USPS say this? I really want to find confirmation of this statement. If anyone knows, please post a link. PACT is without a doubt the most nonsensical and unwieldy postal regulation ever conceived. Certain forms of tobacco are OK to ship, while others are illegal to ship. Well, maybe not, depending on who is shipping and who is receiving. See, the ones that are illegal to ship are in fact OK to ship in certain circumstances… Utterly ludicrous. I’m sure that the USPS higher ups groan even thinking about it.

@ kincaidc: LOL, yeah most of mine are too. Only “free” samples will remain legal though. The ones you pay for gotta go with a private courier.
