I love me some viking blonde also @Thunderbird. Well maybe not love but it is a staple, kind of like porridge, it ain’t fancy but it’s nice and satisfying. I wish its scent lasted longer, recommendations?
I’ve started blending this with all my fine grind Toque snuff and it’s a great way to reduce them hitting the back of the throat whilst retaining the dominant scent of the Toque since the blonde has such a subtle one.
Opened a new tin of Blonde at the weekend and I’m still waiting for it to settle down. Not a nice scent in it’s early stages on this tin, but the last one wasn’t as bad.
I personally love the scent of the VB. It just seems like a very high quality snuff to me. As for what exactly the smell is? Maybe it’s the pure quality tobacco used, I don’t know how it’s made and what if anything is added.
It’s still really ‘biscuity’ [which I don’t like] - I am tempted to leave the lid off for a few hours…should I?
Find that mixing the Blond with the Spear I’d excellent.
…is excellent… Darn spell check!
I just cracked a new tin that’s been in my insulated cooler for a few months. I think what I’m detecting immediately is a fermented note in there; lightly sour, yeasty, doughy and a bit of “compost pile” made from fall leaves. It’s fading with some air, but I don’t think it will go away entirely. The toastiness in the last tins isn’t as prominent with this one, but I hope some breathing will remedy that. It’s not unpleasant, it’s just…different.
Yeah they are definitely fermentation odors for sure. Almost barnyard-like. I like them, I think they make Viking Blonde unique. It is pretty much powdered tobacco in its most natural unflavored form. The nic hit is pretty low though. I could pack both nostrils solid with Viking Blonde if needed and not sneeze.
I aired this for a day or so and then tried it a couple of times this morning. I was disappointed. There is nothing in that tin that made me want to ever try it again. I will try it again in a month or so, but experience tells me that in such cases as this, I am not likely to change my assessment.
That’s what I thought @fredh - I changed my mind quite quickly but I still don’t like the smell or taste of a new tin of VB.
