Viking Blonde...what is it?

So, I recently received an order from Mr. Snuff that included a tin of Viking Blonde. I have been snuffing this all night and while at first I did not get it, it is starting to grow on me. It is light, airy and very, very plain. At first, I got no scent from it, but it has a nice natural feel. My question is what kind of snuff is this? I have read reviews saying it is a toast and other saying it is an SP. I guess it really doesn’t matter, but expectations influence experience and I’m trying to get a feel for this easy to take snuff. Opinions on Viking Blonde?

@fbones24, its like a moist toast type. Very unique, I would classify it as a toast.

I still don’t exactly know what the hell an SP is. I remember reading somewhere that it used to refer to high-quality, plain tobacco snuffs, presumably on the moister side, but Wilsons renamed their Queens to Best SP so now it more commonly refers to snuffs scented with bergamot. Have you tried the Dark? If so how do they compare? I’m loving the Dark.

I have V dark and V brown … If I close my eyes and reach for either bottle ( decanted ) I wouldn’t know difference… I think i wouldnt? Now u got me wanting to start a new cart…and get V blond–toasts are my preference… AS far as a SP …I don’t think I tasted a true sp yet… I love most toque snuffs… But sp extra wasn’t for me… I think it had clove in it… Same for toque Xmas pudding … Cloves … Is Xmas pudding or sp extra considered a sp? BTW is Spanish gem a sp? I still don’t know what bergamot tastes like…maybe next order… Like lemon kinda? Sorry for taking this post in another direction than OT ( horus92 threw me off … Lol … Just bustin chops)

When i go Blonde, i go full nose. If it were not for the ‘stuff’ running down my face, or the inability to draw breath thorugh my nose, i would’nt know it was in there; the least scent i have ever encountered. I should probaly turn a tin Lilac, as i have yet to get my Lilac scented snuff. [-( Edit: To experience a bergamot scent, someone other than me advised to smell a fresh bag of Earl Gray tea.

Bergamot is sort of a spicey, lemon-orange smell. Reminds me of Old Spice deodorant a little bit.

Citrus bergamia, the Bergamot orange, is a fragrant fruit the size of an orange, with a yellow colour similar to a lemon. Earl Grey and Lady Grey are awesome tea’s, especially with some SP’s. @Uwe Posts: 237 November 2011 You know there will be no definite answer which is for sure. But for me these explanation from snuffbox.org.uk is the really good: “Nobody knows what S.P. stands for. It has been thought to be “Sheffield Pride” because of its main purveyors, Wilsons of Sheffield. But now the consensus is that it means “Spanish” : perhaps because of the Havana snuff looted from a Spanish convoy (though then referred to as “Vigo” snuff) - by Admiral Rooke in 1702 and paid to his sailors as prize money - in consequence of which snuff became cheap and hence popular in England, no longer the reserve of the toffs (or “toffee-nosed”). (The first snuff factory was set up in Seville in the C16th: the grated tobacco produced in that Royal tobacco factory was known as “Spaniol”.)” Anyway: I like them ) and that’s the main thing for me. - See more at: http://snuffhouse.org/discussion/5556/what-does-sp-stand-for#sthash.m24JlRhS.dpuf

I agree with @PotPoe. Blonde is one of the least intrusive snuffs I’ve tried. Quite light in the nose and almost no scent at all. There is a natural tobacco essence to it, but not a scent. I used it exlusively this weekend and I like it. It is no nonsense and easy to take when on the go. It’s not one that I would “indulge” in as there is simply no indulgence.

Well, today I added a tiny bit of Toque original to my Viking Blonde. Probably a 1:4 ratio. Great stuff now!!!

I always thought SP was the perfume-type of snuffs. I’m not partial to them but many on Snuffhouse love them.

Just a very good plain snuff

I agree. I am really enjoying it, just confused as to how it was classified. I have since mixed it with three different Toques that I found either too hard to take or too scented and it is wonderful as a mixer as well.
