I have a couple of friends who think it’s weird, but have tried it and put out exaggerated expressions accompanied by sounds of disgust. One of them simply prefers cigarettes, and asked me for a pinch because we were working inside and he had run out of cigarettes. Another friend is a heavy smoker, and had already used snus a number of times. He enjoys taking pinches with me, but hasn’t bought any for himself as yet. There were a couple of acquaintances at my university who enjoyed it once, but had no further interest. There’s a whole social ritual around smoking cigarettes specifically, which I think discourages many from switching to snuff, snus, or even pipe tobacco. Snuff’s obviously not a common predilection. I simply find it the most pleasant way to take tobacco, and am predisposed to be generous to those who express a genuine interest.
I have found that many pipe smokers are interested in trying snuff. I am an example.
I’m another. I think pipe smokers are far more temperamentally likely to want to try snuff than cigarette smokers. Although I have to say, I created a minor scandal when I promoted it heavily at a pipe club event a while back. Amazing how few people had heard of it.
Well if your a good father in law @mecompco you could persuade him that it was in his best interests. How does your daughter feel about it?
Well, I’m afraid this story has an unhappy ending. After leaving our house with the hit of NB, followed by some L260 and a portion of General Original my daughter tells me the young man was violently ill. Lightweight!
