Bernard’s Gekachelter, SG unscented Crests, Old Mill Pure Virginia Toast, SG Irish D Light. F&T HDT, Bernard Knower(sp?)
Samuel Gawith McCombie. That was the nicest plain tobacco snuff I’ve ever had and I’m still gutted that they discontinued it. Bring back the McCombie, even if for a limited edition run, that’s what I say! :((
@Jim - Imho WoS Natural and Toque Natural are top snuffs. Not only are they good for mixing, they also have a quite decent nic hit. The scent is light and fresh. I really like how the pure tobacco aroma is developing slowly while the pinch is lingering. Butter and some kind of herbal freshness comes to mind, like dew or simply the smell of the air in the early morning. I enjoy them both really much but I would prefer the WoS Natural over the Toque.
Old Mill Pure Virginia Toast and F&T HDT for me
Havana toast, HDT, om Tennessee toast and Lundy foot
Thanks for all your suggestions guys, im really enjoying blue crest at the moment but still love Viking Dark for the smokeyness!
7 year old Toque natural toast! The goods!!!
I forgot to mention SG London Brown. Very nice rappee style, similar to Black Rappee. And as you’ve discovered, Blue Crest unscented. Thats a fine snuff for sure. Too bad for me I’m out, but I have Red and Yellow Crests still( just a couple grams).
SG crests I believe, SS black magic, SS traditional SP. I think those are all tobacco.
I agree with @Aromanic Toque Natural is a great plain tobacco snuff
Old Mill Acadia. The gourmet cajun.
SSS Superior Navy Flake, 3 different Virginias/
Bernard’s Virginie is sublime in my opinion.
Toque Rustica - Straight Up Tobacco - coarse or fine
Wilsons of Sharrow Natural. A bit tricky to take for a beginner, but good. It smells like a nice cigar.
Quite a few votes have been for Toasts of one kind or another, but I wasn’t sure if they really belonged in this thread since Toasts aren’t “straight up” natural tobacco. Toasting sure makes a difference to the flavour. So far no-one has mentioned Molens Latakia Ao 1860 which is the base tobacco for their latakia range; a perfect complement to their FCV 250 and 400 (plain Virginia) snuffs.
Try the SG London Brown. Natural as it gets. IMO.
One that hasn’t been mentioned yet and is different to anything else spoken of so far - as far as I know - is Bernard Alt Offenbacher köstlich. I’ve only has this one once, and enoyed it 'til it ran out, so I really should order it again. It’s a blend of three tobbacos, and has, to me, a kind of sherberty scent to it.
I have to echo what a couple people said about SG blue crest! I got the 25g tin, and I fell in love with the stuff. Being used to finer, drier snuff it’s still taking a bit to get used to on the take, but I don’t mind getting the practice in at all! Grass, hay, flowers (but NOT floral), slightly sweet too, but in a very natural way. Taken indoors, the scents are pretty subtle, but taking it outdoors and the scents really open up on you. I have heard people say that nicotine is mild in the crest series, but I would disagree. It’s more of a “creeper”, like most of the OMs I’ve tried so far. By no means an N-bomb, but about five minutes in it finds it’s way out of your face and into your head in a very satisfying way. This is what snuff should be, in my opinion.
I’m surprised SG Black Rappee wasn’t mentioned
