New Snuff Maker in the making

I have heard rumor that a new snuff may be hitting the market sometime in the early New Year. Supposedly high end, F&T, Spanish Jewel quality. Has anybody heard anything or am I having my leg pulled? Dave

I know stitch was working hard at snuffmaking in conjunction with Tangiers.

maybe thats who it is. I know he makes a fine blend having had the pleasure to try a few.

KarooStof??

I heard there was this guy who made some awesome Perique snuff.

Is it that “Rollin’ Down to Old Maui” Perique?

@mr.snuff, maybe it was the news that Wilson’s is looking into reviving defunct F&T blends?

I thought this might be a thread about Roderik…and his wife. nevermind.

Damn it, PP. Now I’ve got -that- image to live with.

@Xander Haven’t heard any developments as of recent regarding Wilson’s and F&T but I still have faith. Maybe I should email the mill manager and see what is new…

First the good news. The snuff project has attained a new level of feasibility with Tangiers move to a larger and more modern facility. There is finally room to develop and manufacture snuffs on a reasonable commercial scale. Some of the plain tobacco snuffs I made six months ago are maturing in an encouraging way. We have agreed to continue with R&D for now. The not-so-good news is personal. I have had a lot on my plate, what with a 95 year-old mom’s increasing care needs, and dealing with my own medical and dental problems. I’ve had little extra time or energy to pursue snuff making. Even if I had been up to it, Tangiers move to a new facility plus gearing up to expand production of their hookah tobacco line demanded all time and attention. We are finally at a point where we can move forward. The question of distribution remains uncertain. With PACT in place, point of purchase sales are the only domestic alternative. A most daunting task that would be. Shelf space around the cashier is premium and retailers put their most requested items there. There simply are not enough people walking into the average convenience store asking for nasal snuff to gain the interest of shop keepers. The only legal work around would be to sell off-shore to people like Dave. That prospect provides the only glimmer of economic feasibility for the venture. I expect further if halting progress in the year to come. Thank you all for your kind words and good wishes.

Talk to Tom with nicotinerush, com. He is shipping American snuffs in the United States by UPS and collecting all state taxes in compliance with PACT.

PP, I spoke to Roderick about this and he assured me that they are not expecting a baby.

well if he’s not expecting a baby he’s gonna be suprised when he gets his mail this week. Seriously though on the stitch tangiers side. One thing I don’t think would be hard would be getting hooka lounges to sell the snuff they tend to have a curious crowd. OF course that can’t be the whole strategy just part.

@Nachman - thanks for the info!

wow!! Snuff at a hooka lounge. What a perfect place to sample and buy all the varieties of snuff…while toking. Thats a fantastic idea.

Glad pp digs what I’am saying.

seriously, that makes a ton of sense. Where else can you find a bunch of people that are in to tobacco and trying new things. The hooka smokers love the variety of flavors.

I would need snuff at a hookah lounge, that way I could keep my nicotine cravings at bay.

@ Bob, well you have intuited part of our strategy. I’ve introduced a number of Tangiers’ Odyssey lounge patrons to the pleasures of snuff. Most customers were game to try it, and many liked it. It does pair nicely with hookah. Some of the house favorites are slated for snuff trials. Results are very encouraging. So far we have tried peppermint, chocolate, black currant (a flavor that does not work well with hookah), licorice and a flavor unique to Tangiers called “kashmir.” It is very aromatic, spicy and complex - you either love it or hate it. I happen to be a fan of it alone and as an accent for stone fruits and some florals.
