Since my return to San Diego I have renewed a friendship with a pal who is a licensed tobacco manufacturer. On a recent visit I pointed out how making nasal snuff could be integrated into his operation and it looks promising for me to head up that part of the enterprise. He had an immediate grasp of the potential, given the current anti smoking climate and the positive reaction his team had upon trying nasal for the first time. It was impressive for me to see a shipment of 200 kg of his custom blended leaf arrive in a huge box from North Carolina. I will work with this blend for the time being, as it is quite good on it’s own and accepts flavors well. While it is cured, it is rather young and will no doubt improve when aged under proper conditions. I sampled some of this plain and it is promising indeed! I will also look into what’s available in cigar leaf. I learned suppliers are happy to send a few kilos for a “small scale test”. However the minimum purchase for any custom blend is a metric ton - 1000 kg! In several to six months I expect to be able to send out some generous samples for snuffhouse members to evaluate. If there is huge enthusiasm for the product we will secure the necessary licensing enhancements to go into production. I would also like to hear from members as to what they like and don’t like about what’s available on the market today. What sizes, packaging and other preferences do you have? We are not looking to duplicate what’s currently available, though certain popular flavors will probably be on the menu. I am committed to excellence above all in scented and plain snuffs. I personally favor packing in bulk quantities - quarter, half and full kilo tubs. The snuff is best preserved this way and will continue to improve over time. Plus the unit cost can be much, much lower. Looking at the numbers, I think we will have no problem being extremely competitive on price. Thank you for your support. Please post any comments you may have here but send sample requests with with words “snuff sample” in subject line to: aztopstitcher@gmail.com. I will archive all requests there with no chance of losing data. Best wishes, stitch I

L

That is fantastic news. I can’t wait to see how it goes.

M

I literally had a dream that someone would do this! Truly great news stitch! Couldn’t get the email addy to work, though. Fun with gmail…

M

Congratulations Stitch! Very happy for you man.

T

Wow - this is wonderful news! I wish you all the best with it, stitch!

B

awesome. I would love to try some. thanks for bringing a smile to my face.

T

I think a new US company should have this: A straight-up menthol. A fruity menthol. A perfumed. A toast. And for flavors, I’d look for something different, yet good.

S

This is great news! I expect that if this thing takes off, you will also be able to bring the “snuffburgers” into full production at some point. Anyway, I certainly want to do my part to help this endeavor, so I feel obliged to offer my services as a tester.

B

please someone needs to make a black pepper snuff. Trust me it’s awesome people love it!! It’s like the cheese and bacon hard to convince people untill it’s in their nose. Seriously that alone must be done.

D

Excellent news indeed, Stitch. It’s good to see another manufacturer gearing up to promote snuff. I hope you will have a high nicotine product amongst your offerings.

B

This is great news. I would live to see a nice smooth plain flavor. There are very few truly plain snuffs. Something along the lines of what Camel cigarette tobacco smells like.

O

Wow, I really look forward to seeing what you come up with. Like bigmick I’m most interested in the would be plain tobacco offerings, my favorite snuffs being the american scotches and the toasts. Good luck with this new venture.

M

I’ll just wait to see what stitch comes up with. It’s kind of like knowing the Bartender at your usual hangout. They hand you something and you like whatever you get.

B

Nice Stitch! You are in deep, my friend! My wife will be thrilled when my first metric ton of plain arrives!! Maybe if I can prove to you I can grow some quality tobacco here in Ohio, I could possibly be one of your suppliers? I hope to be so privileged!!! Good luck and keep everyone posted!

F

congrats, I’d hoped someone in the U.S. would start up new snuff production! I even went so far as to contact one company, gave them a little spiel, and got back a one sentence, rather terse, write off. Best of luck to you!

S

Patchouli scented snuff, anyone? I think that could be wonderful, if it wasn’t done too heavily. Or maybe a good spiced rum scent? That would be awesome if it came out correctly. Good luck with this.

R

Well, this is really good news! But you should keep one thing in mind: a blend contains 10-20 different types of tobacco leafs. Not only for a “balance” in taste, but this way you secure the quality. You don´t want your product to taste different every year.

C

Will the FDA allow for flavored snuffs? I know they recently outlawed flavored smokes, including cloves. Menthol is excepted.

S

Carol I will call it scented rather than flavored anyway!

B

yeah it is. And supposedly part of it’s influence is that flavored cigs are actualy more popular with underage smokers then they are with adult smokers. I guess this means if we see teenagers snuffing best to just cut their noses off before they ruin it for everyone else.

S

I am really encouraged by the swift, positive response to the topic and the enthusiasm expressed! Snuffburgers may indeed follow in time. Be sure to give me a postal address when you request samples! A few of you forgot that essential piece of information. I am really excited to be able to work on something I love so much.

M

An American company making snuff would be awesome…not that there is anything wrong with snuff from other places, or the snuff already made here! Good luck Stitch! I would love to see more unscented snuffs, too.

Z

Awesome news!! I’m always up for trying something new, but I won’t request any flavors. Instead, I will anxiously await what you have to offer. (Please make some toasts!!)

K

Great news! Your post reminded me I had a small sample of some of your snuff somewhere. I am moving house and just threw a couple of old bags away thinking they were old Toque bags or something, now rescued! Strong and fairly plain/non descript flavours are what I would like to see more of, just like this sample I have of yours! I’ve never had a snuff where I thought the flavours were too strong.

K

I’d be willing to try some out, only thing I don’t like so far is the mentholated ones.

C

I think a mint lemonade snuff would be out of this world!

Z

Carol, you reminded me… Who else would love a Mojito snuff? Mint and rum!!

B

I say do what you do and do it right. Then how could we not love it.

G

Stitch: This is wonderful news! May it keep well for you and your associates, and best of luck. If there’s anything I can do to help with this momentous undertaking, any way at all I can be of any assistance, please let me know.

S

Stitch, Congratulations mate. As far as packaging goes, instead of the common round tin format, how about something shaped more like a snuff box (square)? Also I would love to see a plain toast and or some less perfumed, more natural offerings. But that’s just me. I imagine a good SP and a few desert snuffs will be necessary to break into the market Again best of luck. This is really exciting

S

Yeah, gotta respect entrepreneurs. I say though, establish yourself first like with “Original” or something if you follow.

B

I am looking forward to new flavors. You can count on my support. Sounds really wonderful. I hope you are very successful. For my tastes…(everyones is different) Please concentrate on new. Not redos. Light on the menthol, please.

Z

I agree on bigbuyer’s light on the menthol" comment. I have heavy menthols, and basically only use them for mixing. I’d much rather see staying power with unique scents. And by unique I don’t mean heavily perfumed…

X

Having tried some of Stitch’s home made snuff, I don’t think you guys have to worry. The one I sampled was basic straightforward tobacco, Scotch-like & somewhat herbal. Nothing weird like Dr. Pepper though.

W

This sounds very cool. Since I’ve gravitated to European blends it’ll be nice seeing some innovative US offerings. I’d love to try them.

B

Congratulations Stitch!!! Truly awesome!! Best of luck to you!

S

Just a few thoughts. Thanks Xander for your comment. I am learning a lot from this discussion. My personal belief is that a plain tobacco snuff can be more complex in it’s own way than a flavored one. I’m afraid that those who are expecting a traditional American Scotch or Sweet may be disappointed. There is no way to compete with UST, Conwood or Swisher/Helme. They do a fine job on a huge scale. With so many fine SP’s and “medicateds” out there that I see no need to toss my hat into that ring either. The tobacco blends and the scents will be unique, the scents chiefly natural botanicals. I also have an appreciation for the friendly way distilled spirits merge with tobacco. They are great partners with strong snuff tobacco. When applied, scenting will be done with some subtlety. My personal passion is for high quality, high strength and unscented. Just as it would be sacrilege to add scent to a truly fine cigar, so it is with any fine tobacco product. Early on I will bring out a cigar snuff. To date nobody has come close to making the legendary Spanish Jewel. Although I doubt I can replicate it, I will try to make something very much akin to it. It may take years, but it’s my personal quest. Please keep the comments coming; your input is vital to my project. I am grateful for the chance to hear all your thoughts and to be part of this great community. Cheers!

B

@Stitch Don’t get me wrong, I do like the scented tobacco immensely. It seem s like the more wild and exotic flavors that come out, the more overlooked is a mastery of the tobacco in it’s most simple form. PLAIN is a terrible description of what a craftsman can do when he brings together many leaves in an unscented mix that blends complex in the nose. Surely it is easier to mask poor tobacco with many strong scents. I don’t claim to be an expert but I really feel you are headed in the correct direction with a quality plain, (and some VERY lightly scented) snuff. I would think a mastery of the plain would have to be first. Simplicity will always sell.Very excited when I read your last post!

W

A zephyr of fresh pear would be fantastic.

B

My tobacco about three weeks ago with my two lil’ Snuffers…

B

C

Beautiful plants. Where do you live, Bart?

S

Hi Bart, thanks for posting the picture. That tobacco looks healthy and your kids look healthy too, plus full of mischief. Nice pic.

S

Wow, that is awesome. All the best of luck to you, Stitch.

B

@cstokes4 & snuffhead Thanks! I wanted to show stitch a couple photos and hope he could put some up with the beginnings of his operation. He sounds very knowledgable! I live about 12 miles east of Cincinnati, Ohio. I grew these on the property where I grew up. I have much to learn about growing tobacco but seemed to have a decent growing season and crop this year-My plan is to cure it for 6-8 weeks and then tie it in hands and hang it roughly another year. I told Stitch I’d pull out some of the better hands to send to him around Thanksgiving. I’m hoping they could be used in some type of mix snuff because I don’t believe burley is a tobacco that will stand on its own as snuff-I may be wrong. It’s hanging as I speak-Maybe I’ll post some other photos when I get home tonight. You have to excuse my computer skills-my last computer was a Commodore 64. Sad, eh…

C

Very cool, Bart. My Mom’s side of the family is from Ohio, I lived there for a number of years in my youth, around Youngstown. My Mom is from Mechanicsburg which is around Urbana and Springfield. I miss Ohio in the fall. I just ordered a bunch of seeds to try my hand at growing. I think the climate down here in Florida allows for growth year round. One question… What’s a Commodore 64??? LOL!

B

A computer I was introduced to in gradeschool . I believe a calculator has more memory than one of those old things-worthless! I used to say computers were just a fad i suppose I may have been wrong. Year round growing would be nice!! Some things I’ve learned this year: spacing needs to be greater on the plants, pay more attention to the tobacco worm, possibly “priming” the bottom leaves early on-I lost quite a few bottom leaves because as the plants grew wider and I couldn’t cultivate between them, the bottom leaves got scalded from a greenhouse effect coming up from the damp ground on a hot day. May be important down in Florida? Well, good to meet someone with Buckeye roots!

C

Oh yes, GO BUCKS! I think we have Indiana for lunch this week… The greenhouse effect would be a HUGE issue down here. Just the heat and humidity alone is bad. Luckily, it’s starting to finally cool down a bit, it’s been getting to the 60’s overnight. I’m sure I will have some questions when everything get’s going.

M

Are you a TB bucs fan cstokes?

P

@ Bart, when you say you’re going to cure it and then hang it for a year, what do you mean by that? I have no knowledge of tobacco growing and/or drying/curing. What I had in mind was this: Once the tobacco leaves are fully grown, I will cut it off and tie it in bundles. This bundles I will hang in my wendy house until it is dry. Only then can I start curing it. Curing is done by fermenting. Once it’s cured and properly dried out, it can be ground into snuff. I will appreciate your help!!!

C

@Miamimark: Err… no. Even though they are the FL NFL team closest to Orlando, I’ve never been a fan. By GO BUCKS! I meant The Ohio State Buckeyes and THE BEST DAMN BAND IN THE LAND!

M

I realized that but it made me wonder. My current “female friend” is from Ft. Meyers and a Bucs fan. They play my team, the Skins this weekend.

P

@stitch, whenever I order a steak in a steakhouse and the waiter wants to know whether I’d like some sauce with it, my custom reply is: “Do you doubt the quality of your meat”? That, of course, is only a joke as I do sometimes like some garlic or pepper sauce with a steak. But it’s a fact that one cannot hide poor quality meat by adding some sauce. Same rule applies to snuff as far as I’m concerned. I do love flavoured snuffs with my #1 being Toque Peach. But I also, maybe more so, love pure, unscented tobacco. Be it cigars, pipe tobacco, cigarettes or snuff, I prefer the natural products over the flavoured ones. I sometimes bought cherry flavoured cigars because it SMELLED so good. Problem is it did not TASTE so good! A pinch of Toque Natural or Quit, Taxi or Ntsu is what it’s all about. Not to mention Spanish Jewel. I love STRONG stuff. While I was still taking alcohol, I always prefered the strong tasting stuff. I loved White Horse whiskey, Castle beer, Oude Meester brandy, Red Heart rum. I smoked Texan cigarettes, Horseshoe tobacco in my pipe and big ol’ Davidoff cigars. So, please give me a strong, good tasting, pure tobacco snuff and I will love you for the rest of my life!

B

@Pieter Yes Pieter, I think there are many differnt styles of curing and harvesting different tobacco depending where you are located. Around Ohio and Kentucky, most folks grow just Burley. I am just a beginner, myself, and have learned much from a friend in Kentucky who has grown tobacco for 60+ years. With Burley at least, the plant is topped before or right as it is beginning to flower. Major growers apply a sucker chemical at this point to stop the growth of the little new shoots that would take away from the leaves recieving nutrients. I had to manually pull these suckers off. If a sucker chemical is used, the farmer must count the days from the application because a side effect of the chemical is that it yellows the tobacco leaves. (You cannot tell by looking if the plant is ready for harvest) My friend counts 20 some days. Then the plant is cut on the lower stalk and with the help of a spear, four or so plants are hung a a 4 foot stick on rails running thru the barn. The barn has long doors that can be adjusted for allowing humidity in. From this point on, the tobacco can only be handled when it’s in case (soft and pliable because of moisture) . The air- cured process takes 6-8 weeks. During this time, it’s best if the plant goes “in and out of case” (back and forth between very dry to pliable) and it’s believed the stalk also imparts some better flavor to the curing process. Either way, after 6-8 weeks, the tobacco is taken down in case and the leaves are stripped and separated into 4 grades. They are bundled and brought to the dealers. There is no such thing as the old fashioned auctions around here anymore. My friend has a contract with Phillip Morris International. He shows up with the stripped, graded tobacco and they weigh it and give him a check. That’s the last he sees of it. He says within a week or two his tobacco is shipped to Venezuela! I plan on taking the stripped leaves,(stripped of the viens) and tieing them into “hands”-about8-10 leaves in a bundle. These can be smoked or chewed and (hopefully snuffed)at this point but at least another year hanging would do them well. Some put the leaves in hogsheads to age. I’m afraid to do that yet because there is a risk of mold if the humidity is inaccurate. With some other tobacco, the leaves are “primed” , manually pulled from the plant as they ripen from the bottom up and these are either tied across a stick to sun dry or I’ve seen them put in a kiln to dry or flue dry. I am very thankful to have a sight like this where I can learn and see new ideas and talk to some nice folks from all over the world. I am definitely no expert, but this sight has made me love the noble tobacco plant even more and increase my snuff usage! Maybe this helped, Pieter? I’ll try to put some other photos on tonight that may help to see what I speak of. So long. Bart

C

Wow. I have a lot to learn and read before I’m ready to do anything with my seeds.

P

@ Bart: Thank you so much, I see what you mean by curing. @cstokes4: Same here, my friend!

R

And the same here, but as we use to say: even dwarves have started small.

C

@Pieter: Have you bought seeds yet? If so, what kinds?

S

Stich, congratulations and good luck from a newbie! BTW, my email to you was sent back, no such email address? I would love to be one of your testers, and I reside right here in sunny San Diego!

T

Thats great news Stitch. Glad to hear this.

A

Great news Stitch, I really hope it works out. I would love to see the Thai snuff samples you sent to me (reviews on the review site) Also, I would love to see a plain, genuine HDT type snuff and an HDT with a merest hint of camphor or menthol. What I respectfully hope you don’t do is anything like the Dholakia range of candy snuffs. Make snuff for snuffers Stitch, lets have some potent stuff for us old boys with some traditional mixed with your own exotic brands. Can’t wait for a sample! Best wishes Nigel

C

Snuffster, I’m not sure why you continue to openly bash the Dholakia snuffs. If you don’t like them, don’t use them.

F

I’d second another snuff with camphor, I really seem to like that scent, with or without menthol.

A

Cstokes - I’m not sure where you are coming from with that comment. This is an open forum with views expressed freely, unless something is hateful, racist or offensive any comment goes - its called free speech. I don’t know how many of my posts you’ve read, or my reviews, but in actual fact I love Dholakia snuffs and have posted several reviews on the review site giving many of their snuffs high praise. In actual fact I was given a six months supply of Dholakia and a snuff bullet from Namrata for one particular snuff review. If you were to read everyhting I’ve ever read about Dholakia you would see that I have a perfectly balanced view of them and indeed I think that Dholkia is an important and absoluteley first rate producer - one of the most exciting things to hit the western snuff world in years. Also, as I’ve said many times, Dholkia snuffs often figure in my daily rotations, particularly sparrow cool and Kamal. However, at the end of the day I’m just an ordinary Joe consumer and can and will say what I like about any product I use; some of their snuffs I don’t like and I don’t really see why that should bother anyone. Best Wishes Snuffster

S

Hello all and thanks again for all the kind encouragement. I have some good news. I was able to get a decent enough result with a non-fermented process. I have used it all day for two days and I think it’s ready for a pass around. There are a few extra packets if you haven’t got on the sample list there still may be time…and I will make more when I get back to San Diego, but that date is indefinite as I have a lot of details to take care of here before I clear out for good. Looking forward to hearing you opinions.

S

Well, look forward to seeing it. I’ll be eagerly checking my mail box for the next few days. Let you know how I like it.

S

In the mail today was an envelope with a small baggie containing a dark brown almost black powdery substance with a post mark from Phoenix, AZ. A very generous sample of Stitch’s new snuff I presumed. I opened the baggie and took a good sniff, and my first thought was prunes? So I dumped a bit on the back of my hand, it’s very dry and granular, and hit both nostrils with a generous amount of snuff. Mmmm…very easy to take, very slight burn with kind of a toasted scent. At first I thought chocolate, but I remembered doing some chocolate not so long ago so I cleared my nose, dumped the baggie into a snuff box and tried again. Not chocolate this time, but a very natural scent of tobacco, with and underlying toasty scent I can’t make out. Mild nic hit, with a scent I’ve never experienced before. I find it very enjoyable and I have to say, I’ve never had anything quite like it before. I’m gonna sit with this for a day and and see if my opinion changes any. Good job, Stitch!

S

Got mine today. First impression is, that this is the closest thing to a pipe tobacco that I have had to date. Very nice. Let me spend some time with it before I say more.

S

There are a few packets left and a larger batch coming in maybe a month - once I’ve relocated to San Diego. Still looking for more testers for future distributions. It’s free but please be willing to complete a 3 minute e-questionnaire. Those who complete their questionnaire are automatically entered for the next distribution. You may of course opt out at any time. My samples are about 2.5 grams, enough for a couple good sessions at least. To participate, email your postal address to me, aztopstitcher@gmail.com - with “snuff sample” in the subject line. Please Include your screen name here. It will help me keep track of everyone better. Many thanks for your help! Stitch PS I am also very much interested in hearing your personal impressions - good or bad - here on snuffhouse.

S

Hey stitch I haven’t received an e-questionnaire. I want to make sure I get one. I’d be glad to fill it out for you.

S

@Snifs; Still working on the final language.I will probably send them out Tuesday to give everyone a chance to receive and try out the snuff first. I appreciate your participation.

S

All the extra sample packets of the first edition snuff base are now spoken for. . Don’t despair if you missed out; a second edition is coming and you can get on the list anytime, but it’s first-come, first served. I have some ideas for improving it, but i don’t want to influence anyone at this point, so I’ll have to keep mum on that. Thanks to all who responded. I look forward to hearing your comments. stitch

W

I’m excited to try this. Filling out an e-questionnaire would be very easy for all of us here and great for standardizing the reviews. I’d be curious to hear about the trends, but then again the end product will reflect that anyhow.

C

A 3 minute questionnaire for some snuff?.. Only if it were all like this!

Z

Haven’t seen the questionnaire yet. I saw you suggested there might be one today, so I’ll check back. My initial thoughts: I feel like I have smoked this in my pipe before. Not in that exact way, but a very familiar, comforting scent. INSANELY easy to take. I think I just snuffed half the bag in one go. Very coarse grind, but not terribly dry. Bearing in mind I’m still relatively new to snuff, but already have a lot of experience with fine sneezy toasts and chunky wet schmalzlers and de kralingse blends, I’d say this has a lot of potential for beginners and seasoned noses alike. Definitely agree with prunes and chocolate, and would like to see those brought out in other flavors. I’m liking this. How much for a pound?

S

@zonewsix: I’m so glad you liked it. The questionnaire was attached to my last email It’s called “snuff survey.rtf” I also find it very easy to take. I imagine our European friends will like it for that reason. I’ve heard schmalzer lovers go through prodigious quantities of that product. Perhaps some of our German members would like samples next time around. Hard to say exactly what a pound would go for at retail. At first our production will be relatively small, with many tasks performed by hand. With some automation, economies of scale will accrue and the the per-unit cost will drop significantly. At that point pounds should be obtainable at a competitive rate with other snuffs on the market. For starters, I’d like to offer 25g and 50g weights in food-grade plastic tubs. These have air-tight lids that snap into place. Could probably go through a cold-wash without popping open. I do appreciate all the comment and reviews to date. I still have a few minor qualms with this snuff, but I think I can sort it out once I get set up again in San Diego.

R

Oh, for some reason I thought the samples were limited to the U.S. Of course I´d be delighted to try your creation. Mail´s underway.

G

Im getting some, I hope, and Im german although I live in Switzerland

Z

Yeah, I would bet schmalzler lovers would dig this quite a bit. I’ll get the survey done in a bit. Flavors that I think would work with this as a base: Hazelnut coffee. Vanilla. Tiramisu. I mentholated a bit this morning and it was quite pleasing. If you could make this with a VERY faint menthol/camphor I think you’d have some fans.

S

So today I received an envelope with no return address that contained a baggy full of a dark powder. No note…no nothing. Needless to say, my woman was freaking out. HA. I didn’t even know I had one of these coming. I have yet to try the snuff, but I would like to say that you to stitch for such a nice sized sample. I will give my review after I have tried the product. Thanks again. ~Ken

S

@zone six: Those are good flavor choices for this base. I was thinking I might try to make a spiced rum snuff out of it. Call it Pirate’s Pinch or some such. Eh…matey!

S

Yarrrrrrrrrrrrr!

B

I really almost like it a lot the way it is. Some minor tweaks and perfection. I’ll give more details after a more extensive investigation.

S

More news! We are salivating over some huge spaces that can accommodate all phases of business operations, plus some new ones. With the recession, a lot of commercial property is now available. Eric’s existing business is a hookah lounge called The Odyssey featuring the Tangiers brand tobacco he manufactures. The lounge serves hookahs and conducts retail tobacco sales. They also sell - at very reasonable prices - hookahs and charcoals on a carry out basis. He does not ship to retail customers. He does not undercut his distributors, by selling at at a steep discount directly to customers. This policy will extend to any and all products we develop. Eric engineered and produces the revolutionary “phunnel” bowl that is truly superior to other hookah bowls. Actually a local ceramic studio makes them under contract. I am looking into the feasibility of producing a netti pot with them in glazed ceramic medium. All this is just a bit of background. The top-secret snuffworks will occupy a walled-off section of the space with operations common to both product lines to take place in a common area. We wish to move into our new place in January 2010. The Odyssey Lounge will be located up front and will include the first “bricks and mortar” snuff shop in North America. We will stock our own snuffs as well as some other favorites. We see a “snuff bar” evolving where patrons can stock up on snuffs and accessories - boxes, hankies, etc as well as sampling from a constantly changing buffet of snuffs for “happy hour.” Sorry, but we can’t serve alcoholic beverages initially. We are keen to be the first to establish a dedicated snuff bar in the US, maybe anywhere. We project that the first commercially available snuff will be available to distributors in about six months. Thank you for your interest and a happy holiday season to everyone.

B

can’t wait! hopefully I’ll get to see it with my own eyes.

B

Nice, Stitch! I knew you were up to something big!

S

Stitch, Is this in San Diego?

S

Yes it is! The new place, if all goes well, will be on Mission Gorge Rd. The Odyssey is currently on the 5700 block of El Cajon Blvd, a couple miles from SDSU. Let’s meet up there sometime!

O

I’m just now starting to appreciate how unique your snuff bar and manufacturing operation are here in the states. Gives me a reason to see San Diego again!

E

America needs a quality Toast marketed in supermarkets throughout the South along with the abundant selections of Scotch snuffs. The 4.65 tins would be fine. Because of it’s characteristics shared with Scotch, it would likely be accepted as “normal”. And, most importantly, I would no longer have to pay shipping. I could live quite contentedly with nothing more exotic than Scotch and Toast. High nicotine content would, of course, be appreciated.

O

@elganso Nah, they need to be marketed along the westcoast first…

S

Wow Stitch, that is awesome. I’m a big fan of Tangiers tobacco, great flavors. I think you will be making some awesome snuffs!

E

@ODT Come on, you guys got all the good stuff out there. All we got is peaches; let us have some good snuff for God’s sake. Anyway, the tobacco NAZI’s got us too and we love our tobacco; whisky too but that’s another subject altogether.

C

There’s enough scotches, we finally need a real nasal snuff.

O

@elganso The good stuff? Unh… Oh yeah, the good stuff hehe True that but really, the number of stores I’ve found that carry snuff round my neck o’ the woods = zero. As is I have to order anything and everything. Hells bells, the headshops have a huge variety of the legal herbs but not even a decent snuff box or vial.

E

@ODT Same here. Only one shop in the Charlotte metro area carries snuff and it only carries two kinds specifically for two customers. Haven’t been in a head shop in forty years - hadn’t thought of that. I order everything else anyway - no big deal I suppose.

A

Hey Stitch, any samples going?

S

Well snuffster, glad you got over your illness. Nothing is better than that first pinch after a long fast. Guess every dark cloud has a silver lining. To answer your question, samples all went out some time ago and it’s not likely another test will be launched until after we get set up in the new place. I’ll make an announcement when things are more certain.

A

thanks my friend

B

I’am eagerly awaiting production as my sample is all gone even after trying to nickel and dime it. noticed even in poor storage it seems to age similarly to old paris. Nothing dramatic seems a little more tangy and less toe cheesy. I’ll say it again sherry would go well with this base.

_

Does anyone know what happened with this venture?

Ah, I was just reading this thread with some excitement and then noticed the date.

Damn. The same thing did happen to me. Sad, since it seems they did not make it until the final market. Sad.

All the recent bumps got me tricked as well. Was ready to enlist myself for a sample of that metric ton of tobaco goodness. What a bummer!

@Bob mentioned black pepper snuff which inspired me to grind up some Vauen Black Pepper pipe tobacco–not bad, somewhat sweet with that complex black pepper aroma.

You made my day sir. Yeah it’s a neat scent with snuff for sure.

This is great news Stitch, and I agree that a plain tobacco snuff can be more complex As for my preference. A mediam to course grain moist nasal snuff is what I like. I also like rappee snuffs, such as S/G Black Rappee, and Wilsons’s Brunswick.

This is hugely exciting news. So excited to try new varieties, especially from this side of the Atlantic!

@tboyer @Asherael Guys, i guess you got something wrong. It seems the whole venture never came into life or we did not get any notice about it. The topic itself is from 2009.
