Maccoboy in 2017

Yeah @markmcsnuffin I just ordered two cans of Starr from Mr. Snuff.  It’s not cheap–$10 a can–but a can lasts a long time.  It’s my base snuff–nice and high in nicotine, and absolutely plain so doesn’t cause rebound.  People who can get it at their local Food Lion or whatever are lucky.  I think its main customer base is in North Carolina.

Another North Carolina grocery store chain is Ingles. They don’t carry the Swisher products. Instead they have Bruton, WE Garrett and some of the sweet dental snuffs. Scotches are expensive and I don’t know why. The ingredients are published and they are not many. Yet, 2 4ounce cans of RR Mills and one 1.15 ounce can of Superior set me back about $60 at Food Lion.

OK, got one store with a younger woman who was a snot on the phone. She called back and wanted $102 for a case. That’s $8.50 per 1 ounce can. I told her no. Next store was a nice, older lady who will have the snuff by Friday after next.

@JosephJames awesome. You rock.

Thank you, sir. We snuff takers are like a fraternity. Just trying to help my brethren. It would be awesome if MrSnuff could get it.

Yup. I feel the same way. Gotta keep what we can alive. Out of curiosity, what was the store that you found it at?

This is amazing news!  Great work, @JosephJames

I sent Mr Snuff a message alerting him to the news, so hopefully wider distribution will be possible at some point.

@JosephJames, thats awesome! Put me down for a few if you’re going to grab this. This is a very nice snuff and very very different than typical American snuff

I have never had it, so I am looking forward to it. Maybe you veterans can share what to expect. The key phrase in the PACT Act is profit. This will only cost the price of the can. Shipping is usually $4 including the mailing envelope. $8.50 the one lady wanted would be a fair price buying from MrSnuff, but not from someone an hour away. She claimed she would make .50 a can. That’s hard to believe. Any pocket can I buy at grocery stores is $5 or so and they use distributors like Blue Ridge. Anyway, she had a really bad attitude. The second lady sounded like someone’s granny and was very nice.

@Psicko the store was called Ranger. A convenience store. It’s in Murphy, NC.

@josephjames I would also be interested in helping you offset cost on 2 of those cans.

Interested in this if you’ll have any extras.

@noidea1263 We should have. I requested a case of 12. I am keeping one and we have a few others accounted for. Once we hit 12, that’s it unless people want more.

@JosephJames sweet. Looking forward to trying a can.

I would love to get Maccoboy back in stock. I would happily by 3 master cases for starters (432 units). I currently have to buy the other US snuffs from a retailer 6 hours drive away. Driving to Georgia would be a vacation… I’ll have to work on the wife for that one.

If anybody can help I would be much obliged. Basically I would need to know who is selling it; arrange payment; then if someone could pick it up on my behalf and stick some shipping labels on for me (which I would provide) that would be it.

Grab a couple of cans and the eternal gratitude of the forum members (me included) for your effort.

@MrSnuff the blue ridge tobacco wholesaler linked in this thread has it. They won’t sell to me but would probably sell to you. The lady I spoke with on the phone said they sell to retailers only. She is very helpful and was the person who answered the number on the website. If you can get them to sell to you, I could pick it up. I am close to Georgia and might be able to have the salesman for the northern counties meet me. It would be easy enough to take them to the post office and mail. Just let me know what you need done.

So happy we’re getting close to having Maccoboy available to the snuffhouse world!  If anyone hasn’t tried it, it is absolutely unique and wonderful.  It’s dark and moist, with a grind similar to Checkerberry.  It’s a relic of a bygone day, when nasal snuff was far more common.  It has a lovely rose scent that is not overpowering, plus a formidable nicotine kick.

It would make me very happy if we could generate enough interest in this snuff to keep it going.  Kudos to @JosephJames for helping with this.

@josephjames I would like to express my thanks as well and keep us informed of when you get ahold of it. This is one I’ve been interested in for a long time.

If all goes well, the case I requested will be at a gas station in Murphy, NC by next Friday. I just looked at the snuff category. They have a variety. They even have Mammoth Cave twist chewing tobacco!
