You are right of course, I had. Ignore my last comments folks, we’ll just crack on as needed then.
Its ok, becuase now we’ll pay VAT. So that makes up for tax not paid here. That’s my reasoning at least.
If it comes down to paying VAT or not being able to get any snuff, I’ll gladly pay VAT. I wouldn’t mind paying tax on it here if I could get it, but there simply isn’t any around me. It’s a two hour trip one way for me to purchase $4 tins of Ozona, which I honestly don’t care for that much now.
I would gladly support one of various monarchies, by paying their country’s taxes (or a principality, if it is one).
I was just over-thinking a touch. What is the price difference for doing it this way? How much would you save per Kg of snuff?
Going by WoS, it’s about $188 to buy a kilo a tin at a time in 25g tins, versus about $140 for bulk drums.
This is making an order from the US and the all the PACT stuff? Good God.
If the order came from, and was paid for in the USA, and sent to a UK friend as a “gift”, and then re-sent out, I don’t even think VAT would apply.
As a SA citizen I do not pay VAT when I order snuff from overseas. So if I should order snuff and have it send to someone else, I still don’t pay the VAT. I’ve ordered snuff from Roderick and it was delivered to someone living in the UK. Because I was the buyer and payer, I was exempted from VAT. That is perfectly legal. If I should order from a company in the UK and have the snuff delivered in the US as a gift, why can’t it work? The invoice inside the package will proof that it’s a gift because my name will be on it.
Pieter, if the customs slip on the package also says gift, that sounds perfectly legal to me.
I think we may have to worry about some legal wrangling with that idea Pieter, not that it isn’t good. Although you’d be buying a gift for someone, it’s still a commercial shipment, and it’s not being sent between private individuals.
It didn’t hit me until now that this PACT Act is a reality. I am totally frustrated. Contraband!?! Are we gonna have tobacco sniffing dogs now? Well I hope we can figure out some sort of plan. I feel guilty as I can only be on the receiving end of this effort.
Thank You to all the friends of American snuffers. Your willingness to help us in our coming dark times is a beautiful thing to witness. I’m proud to be a member of this community. (I was before, but this is just another reason.)
Hey Guys I would love to be on the list. I am more then happy to help ones among this community. I hope to see action taken on this subject… If i can help let me know.
Same goes for me. All this PACT stuff is utter bollocks. If I can help in anyway just let me know.
I keep reading the thread title as “Snuff Fiends Club”.
Right, are we at the point yet that we need to get this up and running? As an Englishman I admit to not having followed this as deeply as you guys, Is it time for me to ask Roderick to make this a sticky or are we still waiting for finals details? What we really need is for someone Stateside to be fully on the ball with developmerns. Snuffster
I believe we have until July 29th but I may be wrong.
Guys, as nice as all this is… I don’t think any of it will be necessary. The FDA will not restrict foreign products (unless they are being sold IN the USA) State Taxes will be required for INTERSTATE sales not INTERNATIONAL sales Shipping by UPS will remain legal Federal customs will still be collected as it is to day For overseas sales the only change will be who delivers your order. That is it. Check out this thread over at snuson. It includes a reply by Northerner’s US lawyers on this very topic. Yeah but as I have posted elsewhere on this forum, UPS and FedEx will collect tariffs that are not even due. I never worry about customs, as they actually follow the law of their country (at least in the countries that I have dealt among).
