Indian Snuffs have been mailed!

I find the IPCO to have a decent somewhat minty, or mentholly taste. I’m really not sure how the people in Indian use it, apart from thier website, which says rub it on your gums for a few minutes and rinse. I guess to use it up, I should do it every morning, or night before bed. The fancy Madras cans can be easily opened, if you find the ridge of the top lid, which is metal, and cut along the line of it. It’s super packed, so the overflow will be about 10g itself, so you should find some container to put that into, and use that up 1st. Just my suggestions.

Tom, thanks for the packet which arrived last week. I just got it last night and will have to try it out soon. Will let you know my impressions. Best wishes!

Yeah, welcome, I’d like to know what you think of them. I might venture a try with some next time I’m out there, but the Lajawab really didn’t “do it” for me. It was so different, with that lime essense, and menthol, but it did hit pretty hard.

I think the lime they refer to in these products is probably calcium carbonate, a strong alkalizer. It accelerates nicotine absorption, which explains the “hard hit”.

Just a quick update – I still have not actually tried the madras snuff in all my preparing for PACT I found myself VERY overrun with Snuff and it became critical as in “NOW NOW NOW!” that I stop all to start taking storage a *lot* more seriously (I had these schmaltzers in their lovely little shopping bags, bulk bags of Toque, Molens that comes in those screwy plastic dispensers, etc etc etc… and realizing that with all this going on that having all my American Scotches sitting lined along my desk may look lovely but isn’t doing the snuff any favors, especially the conwoods in their cardboard tubing, and me with nothing but a few little jars and lots of electrical tape…) Even Napoleon with his legendary drop/‘usage’ would be impressed with and take a little time to get through all this and I realized I have all these little partially opened tins and I think I’ve only ever actually used up maybe 2 little sampler tins of anything and so… and I finally finaly got it all stored… all of it (a couple of things need labeling before I completely forget what they are but otherwise its done)… and without one single storage solution to spare, and I’m heeding your advice, Tom, about ‘expect about 10g to come erupting out and have a place ready to store it’ (and right now I just don’t) I even started my finger around the ridge of the can before I remembered your advice just in time… and I’ve decided I need to stop this smorgasbord mentality here of 'oh lets just run hither skither ADHD styyle sampling all over the place" and I need to stick with one snuff a while longer (maybe one steady snuff in a snuffbox and one really small secondary ‘to break it up’). So, I’ll get there, I’ll get to sample it… some time in the meantime, just FYI, electrical tape does not stick well at all to 10g toque tins at all (no idea why and its just the 10g ones – every time I go to look in my snuff storage for any reason there they are, just those 10g toques, with the electrical tape sagging off of all of them). I realize somebody’s going to come back and tell me electrical tape sucks anyway, but hey, you work with what you’ve got (and I happen to have a lot of electrical tape). and Tom, I was in such a hurry the last time I posted here I never got to really say thank you for doing this, but I really do appreciate you’ve done this for us.

Thank god it’s a “quick” update. : ) …Just a joke whistler…

I think people go overboard in their effort to “store” everything. I have 2 old Cigar boxes in my desk drawer, and I have all my tins in them, and some I just have laying out. I don’t plan on doing anything else. The Madras, from what I remember, was really super packed. But I would not feel in a rush. Get a 10g tin of a snuff you like, and focus on using that, then reuse that tin with the Madras when you feel like it. At one time, I had more snuffs, and I got 2 plastic containers with these snap type lids, and used those too. Oh, and you, and everyone, is very welcome. I am happy to share odd findings, and I hope others will too, if anyone finds them.

I’m interested to see her response. I’m hoping she’ll take in the spirit it was meant, a friendly joke. We’ll see!

@miamimark I have been ‘clocked’ (tested and confirmed multiple times over) at having ‘burst typing’ at rates that exceed over 150 wpm, and I’m especially prone to burst typing while I have lots of adrenaline going/am caffeinated (which I was when I wrote that) so it really and truly was a quick update (for me) Remember too that typing is the way I communicate (people watch me typing and go ‘damn I wish I could type that fast’ and I always tell them “maybe you would if you had to type in order to talk”) the typical human rate of speech is something like on average 270wpm (so you can see that even with my rate of typing I’m still no match for typical verbal speaking people and adaptations, learning to wait and give me a few extra seconds to respond etc are necessary) but catch me in a live-time chat (and especially if I’ve had a few cups of coffee first and/or you piss me off while there lol) and see how fast I can really type. :stuck_out_tongue: That’s where you’re in my world, the place where the playing field is more than leveled, that’s the place where other people go "woah slow down, I can’t keep up!’

@tom, I have so much snuff in here at this point that its ridiculous. I should get my digital camera going (but I have no place to store a picture online then to post it here if I do) just to show you how much – and its taking me 2 days just to get through one of Patrick Collin’s regular Zebra snuffbox’s worth of WE Garrett (which gives me a pretty good idea of just how slowly I am going to be going through all this, which is great for me and securing my snuffing future, but not so good for the snuff). With all the tales on here of "I went to snuff X snuff and it was dry and terrible [etc] and I had to rehydrate it’ [etc] I guess I am deciding better safe than sorry, and besides, if they’re all kind of sealed up that will encourage me to do as you say, and actually use one snuff until its tin is completed (leaving me that space for decanting the madras in once I get to it). I’m not sure taping the bejesus out of the molens funky little containers was satisfactory. I also really try to focus on dry snuffs so there’s less place for it to go in terms of spoilage, but some snuffs are so good they just have to be the exception. Anyway, about the Madras: If once I do get to it and I find I really like it and you do another snuff run, I may ask to be a part of it again. (In fact if I find I really like it I’m going to really hope you do since you’re the sole means to get it!)

@tom, Sorry to say I think mine got lost in the mail as I did not receive it.

@whistlrr “no place to store a picture online then to post it here” photobucket?

As has been posted elsewhere, Patelbrothers has a website that is selling the Rose and Madras. And it’s a bit cheaper than my local store, though the postage counters that. Those that got these from Patel, are they fresh, new?

How can i tell if they are new Tom? the Rose is in a plastic tub. The Madras is in a metal tin.

The rose sounds new. The madras, not so much.

The rose is very fragrant. My room mate smelled it across the room when I first opened it. The Madras somewhat fragrant long lasting burn though

Well, the Rose I have, has a 2008 date stamped on it. I don’t know how long snuff lasts, I think it lasts a good long time, esp if unopened. The Rose I have seems very good.

yeah the rose is stamped 5-09, madras is stamped 8-09

@ rridenour I got the same dates as you got. The Rose and madras are both very nice. Their should be lots of other brands available out their , gota keep on the look.

@tom502, Just an FYI, I still have not received mine.
