If you had to pick one country for Snuff...

It is so difficult to choose! I choose England, but Germany comes in at a close second.

@ snuffster: I don’t know about SPs in the US but there were rappees at least. Some of the old tins are on ebay periodically. Oh, and theoretically high toast as recently as the 1980s from Helme (Lorillard). I don’t know if it was a proper toast or just another scotch.

Well, if I had to, English snuff would be the proper choice. Thankfully, like the desert island scenario, we need not make such a horrendous decision.

European Union

@thatjerk: …absurd. Indeed. Royal George up my nose.

Even though I’m fascinated with American snuff (to the point of buying every scotch and sweet available), I think the English ones are my favourite for nasal use. I’d definitely pick the U.S. for oral tobacco though!

For oral snuff(moist snuff, aka dip, and chew too) in general, I think I’d pick the USA. Even over Sweden, though while I do like snus, mainly for it’s spitless aspect, I like the variety of oral tobaccos in the US, and I think I find them more satisfying.

England, but I would fight for the German Empire in the Great Snuff War, if ever there is one.

Definitely the US for oral Tobacco. I am intrigued with the idea of using Kendal twist for chewing, though. It’s sort of a dual use thing. You can slice a bit off to make a plug for putting in a pipe or popping it into your mouth.

sweeden all the way for oral tobacco. Though I’ve not tried any of the english stuff and would love to.

Snuff : 1) England 2) Holland 3) India Oral : 1) Sweden 2 ) USA

@Tc2642 by picking the European Union I have all the snuffs, except US, available!! At present I have about a kilogram of US snuffs in stock, so no problem for me.

"Oral : 1) Sweden 2 ) USA " Yes, I know that looks a bit …well… hehe

All Sweden had though, is snus. Snus is great, sure… but the variety of the US oral tobaccos make it number one to me. But I do think it’d be a good idea if General would release their long cut to the US shops.

While I am certainly a big fan of American scotches and most English snuff, if I had to choose just one country I would go with Germany. That’s mainly because it’s the only country I can think of that offers any schmalzlers worth mentioning. And I could at least cover some of the other snuff genres because Pöschl has a nice range of other snuffs.
