@cstokes4, are you saying McChrystal’s snuffs are made by Wilsons of Sharrow?
I’m sure J&H Wilsons do the grinding and McC’s do their own blending.
I would have to agree, I don’t believe McChrystals is made by WoS.
@The Nose knows There are all types of Grant money available for restoring Historic building as well as for revitalizing old businesses and etc Though I am sure the capital would be great…it might not be as big as you think Gov, various Historic Societies, maybe even the Garrett co/family might be willing to help a viable company.
That would be decent! Even if it was just a SECTION of the original building at first.
The original building, I think, is long gone. There are the ruins of a stone building on the site, which is probably part of the original. Restoring that would seem futile. There are 5 or 6 other buildings, all brick from a later period. One of these has an open corridor through its middle which I beleive was where the mill race passed and the water wheels were located. The race is all filled in now. I don’t know if there were dams for that and if they are still useable. I’ll have to investigate more when time allows. This area is awash with old mills. Some are still working too, but for historical purposes, not for industry.
Xander, If you go exploring…post some pics…I’d love to see to old site
Interesting read. Thanks for sharing, Roderick.
Also, Toque is “small tobacco” competing with “big tobacco” and it’s nice to see new companies holding their own in this ever changing regulatory market of safer tobacco products.
Thanks for bringing this thread back to life…I’d have never scrolled through far enough to find it, but it was an interesting read. @roderick - how much bigger is your current facility than where you started out? In an industry like this, it’s always nice to read about expansion!!!
Hah. Nice Snuff Factory, clean. tidy, and the latest trucks.lol. But what a success story Toque is. Such a good product Looks like someone spilled some Spanish Brandy behind the truck.
Wow I just read a short history about B upon Tweed that was interesting. Changed countries a few times & might still be at war with Russia lol//
As long as William Penn makes it on the the sticker.
Very interesting. Thank you!
Thank you sir for your fine products. I’m almost ready for my next order. Blessing’s to you
So I just checked my shipment from Toque. Ships from Frankfurt, Germany…I’m not a scientist or anything but I’m pretty sure that’s not the UK.
I do own a Volkswagen that was made in Puebla, Mexico. And yes, I do consider it a Mexican car…along with the Big 3 North American brands. Heck, Mann Engineering is a Hyundai brand, now.
I’ll accept “[insert country] style” but let’s face it, the Germans dominate the market on European tobacco that isn’t a stick. Sticks go to the Latins. Seriously try a Kentucky [seed] flue cured cigar from Italy…being from a Kentucky family, we don’t make cigars and the Italians make it wonderful.
I’m only posting this because the novelty of buying tobacco from the motherland in the US, is always quite intriguing. Now I can only expect quality in precision.
That’s the mail forwarding - I’m assuming you might in America? I believe it is shipped from The Isle of Man and forwarded to Germany for distribution to American postal services.
It looks kinda misleading, but that’s just the way their courier works.
I certainly don’t know much about IoM other than it is geopolitically different. So this could totally make sense.
