Hi. Graeme Steel here. I started to take snuff when I was a precocious 13 year old. (And that wasn’t all I got up to.) From age 20 I have been a regular partaker. For several years, from 1998 when Yahoo Groups began, I owned and moderated the group Snuffboxthenasalsnuffclub@yahoogroups.com. It was the only online group on the subject at the time. It was actually one of the first Yahoo groups in existence. It had 2,800 members at its zenith. Unfortunately I was no longer able to give time to it so I closed it.

I enjoy Fribourg & Treyer snuffs mostly. Dr James Robertson Justice and Princes especially. I was fortunate enough to visit the historic store in London a few times in the early 80s. I also patronized G. Smith & Sons. I enjoyed their Cafe Royale.

I’m interested in snuff history and collect books on the subject as well as silver snuff boxes.

Recently I have started to mill my own cured Indonesian tobacco to make a pure unadulterated snuff. Very nice.

I’m an Anglo-Australian but have lived on the island of Java for 34 years. There’s a lot of tobacco leaf to make snuff from here. Snuff taking here is largely unheard of.
