Has anyone tried MAKING SNUFF?

Best not to add any part of any citrus peel to snuff. Just bruise a whole peel and put it into a container with a lid, and set the snuff, in a bowl, on top of it and seal. Stir the snuff once every 24 hours. If you see any mold on the peel, replace it with a fresh one. Takes about a week to scent snuff this way.

Perfect, thank you @snuffgrinder! That’s exactly what I will do with my current batch.

I’ve evaporated orange extract into snuff. It worked out ok.

Real extracts are fine, but the artificial flavored ones don’t work so well.

Where does one find real extract?

I guess I should’ve said extracts with natural ingredients. They’re generally available at grocery stores etc. Just check the label.

The LoriAnn brand of flavoring/extract oils seem to be really good ones, I’ve bought 7 types all with natural extracts in an alcohol base and the ones I have tried thus far have worked really well. They also seem to be on hand pretty much at all the grocery stores I’ve been in

LorAnn would be the exception to what I said above. I’ve even used their Root Beer candy flavoring for dip and nasal snuff with excellent results.

I’ll have to give the Root Beer a go! So far I have tried the Lemon, Tangerine and blueberry…the small (10-15g) batches I made from each turned out great. I have been using LorAnn pretty much exclusively as my scenting medium so far. I am soon going to try experimenting with more traditional and natural methods though as I become more competent in my snuff making

I havent made any new snuff recently, I have so much built up that it will take me til sept or so to whiff it all. I do believe that I will be ordering the "banana bomb’ sf sudfrucht by Poschl , comes in big 100gm batches for a cheap amt. Gonna keep it in a glass container. Also, gonna get some F and t patchouli, and some macouber and morroco too. gotta have some good stuff about. I am sure I have posted it before, but a place for good spices and such is in NORWAY IOWA, applied for a job there once yrs ago, south of Cedar rapids and north of the amana colonies where I lived. FRONTEIR HERBS…NICE WEBSITE…good stuff. You can buy spices in bulk. If you have a HY VEE store nearby they carry the stuff and will get you whatever you want and save you shipping!

Hey that’s great, I live in Des Moines and we have HyVee all over the place! I’ll check Frontier Herbs website too, this is a fantastic idea, thanks!

ddavelarsen Let me know if you come across any Grand Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) that is unaltered and what it costs

I would totally snuff wormwood! I have found now all root “herbs” attractive to snuff. Mentioning “herbs” there are some great flowers out there to snuff. Did I say that “herb” is great in a snuff. I think I have a list compiled somewhere in this forum.
