Handkerchief vs. Tissue

sorry to hear about your grandpa, Brandasaur, but its cool you got the hankies.

Away with all your talk of practicality - I favour hankies for one simple reason - vanity. I have several of various garish patterns and there is always one in my left cuff, which I flourish vigorously after snuffing in public. I call it “uncasing the colours” ! Modern attire offers little opportunity for a little personal danydism, as modern life offers little opportunity for individualism - so I snuff and be damned! And any man who objects may meet me in the park at his earliest convenience!

Haha, post of the week.

I’ve got a few snuff handkerchiefs which I use and like a lot.

My blanket.

my wife would kill me if i used the blanket!!!

Hanky for cleanup of powder and drips, tissue for the serious clearing.

@insufflator ha ha! I can only WISH I spoke like that…

@transistor - 'Pon my soul - find that certain snuffs have an effect on m’vocabulary, largely the more “Regency” ones. Wonder what would happen if I tried the fine dry Celtic snuffs??

I’m still using some of my granddad’s snuff hankies. They’re khaki (presumably army issue, WW1 or WW2 - no idea which) and so are the perfect colour. I don’t think they’ll ever wear out!

I keep 2 handkerchiefs in my pockets, but use tissues most of the day. At my desk at home and at work, I’ve got a box of tissues, and they’re just too convenient I think of the hankies as ‘backup’ or for when I need a tissue and am away from the box.

To be sure insufflator, that’s a celtic dandy you’d be being.

isnufflator don’t try ntsu or taxi. We don’t need you talking like an eagle or a car.

@insufflator I don’t know if they would affect your speech, but I suspect you beer consumption would rise significantly. Now that i think about it, that WOULD affect your speech! =)

@PremiumParrots lmao about the wipe on the wife I think my old lady would kill me. but I use a paisly hankerchef I wash them in the sink with regular detergent and then with a realy good fabric softner works very very well at keeping the nose unraw.

I use Kleenex for blowing and I only use my black silk handkerchief for dusting.

@snuffeysouthcarolina Wow…must be an SC thing. That’s exactly how I wash my hankies! I do throw in a touch of bleach just to make sure they get good and sanitized…just a cap full or so, not enough to bleach them out.

@bob - Indeed not - this is one of the main reasons I switched from Queen’s Extra Strong to Tom Buck - and I can’t even begin to describe what happened when I tried Dhokalia!

@insufflator Tom Buck-my absolute favorite snuff.

“this is one of the main reasons I switched from Queen’s Extra Strong to Tom Buck” … What???
