Garrett Scotch

I just tried the WE Garrett scotch for the first time. It reminds me more of a burnt down camp fire than a BBQ. It’s also quite the eye-opener, nicotine wise.

Dead heads? There goes the neighborhood! :stuck_out_tongue:

LOL! Nice Xander!

We’re everywhere!

Okay i have a question, I’m new to this snuff and to snuffhouse (first post), and I have a question. I just picked up a little 1.15 oz of w.e. garrett scotch snuff the real powdery stuff. I’ve had some really really really burning sensations and some which aren’t as bad but the most recent one i did about five minutes ago burned the whole of my head and felt like i was under a vice grip or something. Then it made my eyes water pretty badly and obviously it burned my nose tremendously. I didn’t cough or sneeze ( i haven’t sneezed yet) it just BURNS like the dickens! It is really relaxing but not too much of a kick. Is there like a beginner snuff, I’ve read the beginners FAQ I’m just wondering if the scotch snuff is supposed to burn so much!! it ALMOST takes the fun out of it…almost :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

My recommendation is to just sniff a very small amout off the back of your hand, like maybe the amount of an apple seed, and just sniff enough, to enter the nose, do not snort it into the lung.

I would start with some of the Poschl products, at least that’s what eased me into snuffing. I had been snuffing about six months before I tried an American Scotch. At first it was brutal, but now I am starting to really appreciate the genre (beware of the Rooster). If you are going to start with American scotches, I would also suggest you start with something sweet, like WE Garret Sweet and Mild or Honey Bee.

I found the Toque flavors pretty user friendly.

I’ll snuff a good Scotch only once or twice a day. In fact there are not too many snuff types that I go on and on with. Why would I? The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

Dry Scotches are good snuffs. But then again, I have never found a snuff I didn’t like!

@thetremendoustim: Go back to the FAQ and find the pdf beginners guide to download. It has a list of snuffs recommended for beginners. I would add Toque Chocolate to the list and pretty much any schmalzer. Also the Quit With Snuff brand are pretty easy to sniff. Many like to start on the Pöschl snuffs, but most are a bit heavy handed with menthol, so be warned. Scotch snuffs such as Garrett are wonderful, but really more of an expert level snuff. Hold on to it, you will learn to appreciate it someday. The best thing about snuff is that there are so many kinds to try. If one is not your thing, another one certainly will be. Also, your favorites will change in time, so don’t throw any away! Welcome to the best forum on the internet!

The lightly mentholated Bernard snuffs are also good for beginners: Amostrinha (also has camphor) Jubiläums-Snuff Polar Prise Schmalzler Weiß-Blau Zwiefacher As are their Schmalzlers: Aecht Altbayrischer Schmalzler Brasil Doppelt Fermentiert Brasil Feinst Brasil Fresco Klostermischung And also their medium-coarse plain snuffs: Alt Offenbacher Köstlich Civette Extrafein Feiner Offenbacher Cardinal Feinster Kownoer Gekachelter Virginie Pariser Nr. 2

good grief! I’ve been spelling Schmalzler wrong for months. How embarrasing! I better go into lurk mode.

 You could always call it Schmai like they do in Bavaria…

Easy beginner friendly, and good snuffs, with no menthol would be the Wow!, Blast, and Temptation snuffs made by Dholakia. They have a medium grind/moisture, no menthol, and a variety of flavors.

I need to try some of that Bernard Zwieficker…

@ Z_2K: naughty naughty! lol

I’ll agree, the Dholakia’s I’ve tried have been very easy to take.
