I just got both of these, and as far as the Black goes, there’s a good chance I won’t be giving that one a second pinch. “Bottom of the shoe” - along those lines. The African however… maybe they have been changing up the recipe. I think I got the same version as @crullers, which is nothing like the majority if these posts. Medium/fine grind, and a substantial amount of menthol. It has a bit of an exotic Indian snuff scent, with a musty African spin on it?.. pretty hard to describe really. Not bad, I actually kind of like it.
Cat piss is a normal smell in fresh snuff, toasts and SP will also smell of cat piss. It fades with time, you can leave the lid off for a few hours and that usually works.
I haven’t had African but Black definitely varies a lot batch to batch. The first batch I had was really awesome and one of the best snuffs I’ve ever had, somehow there was a “mint chocolate cake” scent as well as barnyard is the only way I can describe it. But the next batch I got was different and still good but not as good as the first. It’s been a couple of years maybe it’s time to order some more.

How does the newest batch that mrsnuff has of D Black compare to the previous batches say about 2 years ago?
On a side note: How can anyone go and “air out” S.A. snuffs ? I will NEVER understand.
Anyway… i am going to try this D. African too. Never had it so far.

I recently received a 50g tub of D African, and they must have changed the recipe because it’s no longer an African style, coarse ground, barnyard smelling snuff. Its reddish brown, fine ground, medium menthol plus some herbal smelling scent. I was disappointed, but it’s growing on me. Not bad, nice tobacco and the drip isn’t unpleasant. This is totally unlike the D. African I described in my previous post.
I have just received the Black and the African, I have not tried the Black yet but the African is superb… I will defo be buying again, stuffed it up my nose and wow… on par with White elephant on the nicotine front… tobacco flavor with a mild menthol that lingers for a long time, very smooth and no drip at all…
