Dholakia Black verse Dholakia African

What is this the same snuff with a different grind ?

I would say absolutly not. Dholakia African is nearly unsnuffable. Its very very coarse, and more importantly, completely saturated w/ammonia. I really don’t know how it would be enjoyable. Dholkia Black is fine and oiled(i think), and, if you can get beyond the- ā€œcheck the bottom of your shoe for poo scentā€ i get from it, you will probably enjoy it.

Does the African have less of the ā€œbottom of the shoeā€ scent than the Black? Personally I’d rather have the ammonia, and at least that can be aired out, right? I simply can’t take the D. Black or D. Medicated, but can totally groove on Sparrow Cool or NTSU etc.

The African is lightly mentholated as well

@PotPoe The scent of barnyard is better than cat piss, The barnyard scent with the ammonia scent is part of the fermentation process when tiny little microbes fart all over your snuff. this is what they look like= https://encrypted-tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQfiCfYcFETM19HvveHMbulHPQIzK6B\_g-qdKRCq70aBS\_CIhNULw

I was looking forward to African, but not if it has a cat piss element. Is it barnyard (which I like) or cat piss with African?

@cakeanddottle not cat piss that is only in Connecticut shade wrapper on cigars

ok then it stays in the cart. Not to thread hijack, but what snuff has the biggest livestock factor? So far for me it’s Viking Brown. Love to try some more like that. I don’t get barnyard from any of the Kendal Browns.

air out the ammonia it’s easy you leave the lid of the tin for a little while and the ammonia smell is gone.

@cakeanddottle Gwayi tobacco from South Africa all have strong barnyard scent [Taxi,NTSU,and Babaton] These snuffs for some reason have a very course grind. I don’t know if it is traditional or just region preference

Taxi Blue isn’t in the same league as the great English coarse snuffs. It’s a pass for me on reorder. Would I feel different about NTSU or Babaton?

@cakeanddottle Your right different animal, like comparing a schmalzler to indian snuff. If you don’t like taxi then you won’t get on with the other two.

See I don’t get the manurey smell at all from the S Africans so far and I’ve had 8 or 9 of them. There’s a scent I’ve found in a couple of Indian snuff and only from Indians, maybe we’re talking about a different smell? The only thing I ever dislike from the S Africans disappears after a bit of airing out- and even that only bothers me some of the time. Beauty must be in the nose of the beholder.

ā€˜Beauty must be in the nose of the beholder’ Truer words were seldom spoken…

My gracious appreciation

What about Neffa Ifrikia, it’s not course or moist and has a serious barnyard scent to it IMO, I don’t think it’s an African snuff though.

SG Crests, to my nose.

Ntsu is suprisingily good when dried out almost completely. It takes on scents that you wouldn’t expect. Like a slightily floral hint and a touch o honey too. Actualy like it when it’s most of the way to bone dry.

@snuffsniffer Neffa Ifrikia is more of a North African style: think Berber or Algerian, Moroccan, etc. Geographically as far from South Africa as either is from India. Having said that, not all South African snuffs are the gwayi (Zulu) style. Bob mentioned Magnet in another thread, and there is also Wilsons Best Blend and probablya couple more.

wait are you saying that magnet is not was a enjoyable snuff???
