No, of course, the competition is just a joke between friends. I wouldn’t presume to say my taste should influence other snuffers, but the FUBAR snuffs really are garbage (I have to say IMHO) I just think we will see a lot of this stuff knocked together and contract manufactured in the future because snuff is probably the only viable form of tobacco development at the moment. I am no expert on snuff as a business, so more than happy to be corrected, but there seems to be a bit of a desire to cover up the fact that the ‘new’ brands are just manufatured by existing snuff makers for the new internet market. Think back to when Toque came on the market; a genuinely new company which was transparently so. Snuff making is a small world, and a truly new company would advertise itself as such. But all these ‘Jaxons’, ‘Fubars’ and ‘Rockits’ …well, don’t insult my inetlligence, but these candy snuffs are made by Dholakia or the like and as interesting and different as a mass produced burger. It may seem a contradiction, but I hope they all do very well because millions of lives stand to be re-claimed from cigarette smoking. They just don’t do it for me.
I would guess Fubar and Rockit are going after a younger market with “cool names” and fancy packaging. I think, if it attracts people way from cigs, it’s all good. Younger people might look at a “old style” tin and not buy it just because of the packaging. Not everyone is as sophistcated as us! I started with ozona and now my tastes have “matured” and I hardly ever touch my ozona. I would give them to a friend in a minute if I thought he would quit smoking. I just got my first few tins if Dholakia from Mr. Snuff and Tom. I really like them alot! IMHO of course…

I agree with miamimark on this, I bet a lot of youngsters simply won’t buy ‘old man’ snuffs. They want something they can relate to and put their own spin on. If that helps them get off, or even avoid cigarettes altogether, I think it’s a great thing. I know I’d much rather my son take up snuff rather than the smoking he has, but he’s got absolutely no interest in any of my snuffs.
As I say, I hope they do well, cos I’m pro-snuff, they just don’t do it for me and I like to rant now and again. And yes, they are under Spanish Jewel because I couldn’t work out how to loose the heading and it was a shameless, underhand way of upping my review figures. I have become a monster.

O.K. I just one upped Troutstroker again. I know he has tried at least twice as much snuff as he has reviewed. Maybe it’s that he has moved on to bigger and better things (like tucking portion snus up his ____). Anyhow maybe the ornery fellow will give us a holler now that he has been trumped.

Trout was one of the great members here, a gentleman and the most knowledgeable snuff man I have ever come across, If I ever know half what he does it will be a lot more than I do now. Sadly he just checks the posts now and again these days, last in August. If you read this Brian, jump back in here - its not the same without you.
