convert the masses

Yeah, people are sheep in general…what a depressing fact! Old Paris is a wonderful smelling snuff - still made with a receipe hundreds of years old. I will admit that its not the best snuff to get started with. I hate to say it as it sounds a tad snobby but it would be like expecting some ignorant pleb who buys nothing but ‘tescos own’ brand £2.99 wine all week to appreciate fine vintage wine…it’s not going to happen. Perhaps I should have started with Gawith Cola…

I took this girl out once that told me she did not drink any wine that did not have a screw-off top. At that moment I knew she was not for me. This was confirmed when I went back to her place, a “handyman special” on the wrong side of the tracks, I sat on the couch and the legs went through the floor. The point is go with the gut and just avoid those people that are just plebs as Lazarus put it. I think we all can spot them.

I find it fairly hilarious that I live in a state where tobacco is the king crop (well, excluding the “other” tobacco, if you know what I mean…), and that the times when I pull out a form of tobacco that isn’t either cigarettes or American moist snuff, people start asking questions about what it is. Though some folks are stand-off-ish about some of them at first, a few others usually end up trying some. Wondering what people will think of nasal snuff… I know a couple others that are actually interested in it, though.

Maybe people in Canada are more open to new things, we Brits tend to like our habit and routine, we don’t like new or unusual things.

Lol. Actually, Lazarus, the screen name is a bit of chicanery… I’m in KY, USA, not Canada (not very close to Canada, either  ). And believe me. If there’s a place where people prefer their habit and routine, eastern Kentucky is it, or one of them. You should hear all the people complaining about the smoking bans and otherwise that are affecting our more major cities here. We the people have had little say in the matter (city councils, etc. making the decision without any real consent. Gotta love Democracy… -_-; ) and the state (commonwealth, whatever) gov’t is trying to get people who have traditionally grown tobacco to grow something else. This, obviously, has made some people very unhappy. 'Course then there’s our slightly more illicit true #1 cash crop… o:-) If there’s anyone from Amsterdam, they might be familiar with that one, lol.

Reminds me of Lynchburg Tennessee where Jack Daniels is made. It is made in a dry county which means no alcoholic beverages are allowed to be sold there in that county.

That Jack Daniels story is so crazy I didn’t believe it when someone first told me!

Interesting how people are the same everywhere! Here in Denmark especially the cigarette smokers will offer very long explanations as to why snuff is extremely dangerous and will make your nose fall off within a day or two *lol* It’s fantastic how they manage to ignore the 10.000 smokers dying in Danish hospitals from lung cancer annually. In my favorite German bierstube I had a couple of guys trying a pinch - they sneezed! (big surprise:) but were very curious about snuff. At work, I had a young female colleague try a pinch of SP. She DIDN’T sneeze!! And she said “my what a pleasant scent!” Unfortunately she was fired soon after (the best always go) and so I didn’t get the chance to fully convert her, she was a cigarette smoker. My other smoking colleagues think I’m totally insane eeww to put tobacco up your nose?!?! Eeeww is the usual comment! However, burning chemically prepared leaves in paper wraps, and inhaling the smoke - is not “eeww”. I can smoke an occasional small cigar from time to time, but smoking will never be the same again. Thank God!

I’ve been trying to convert some smokers at work, but no success. Whenever I go for a pinch everyone around me looks at me like I’m crazy. I’ve tried to explain the health benefits of switching from smoking to snuff, but they won’t hear it. I guess they’re just set in their ways, and won’t change. Either that or they associate snuff with a different powder that is used nasally and is slightly less than legal. We’ll see who’s crazy when they’ve got lung cancer and I’ve got a nose full of Medicated No. 99.

Sadly, here in South Florida, the “other” nasal product is MUCH easier get than snuff.

Instead of health reasons I suggest pleasure reasons. If you say it’s healthier in peoples minds that equates to something like broccli versus a steak. The steak tastes better but isn’t as healthy as the broccli. Tell them it’s a lot more fun the smoking then after they try it more that would be the time to drop the health news on them.

Miamimark - haha definitely the same in Arhus! Bob - what’s wrong with a pinch of High Toast Broccoli ? :o)

Viking, I hate to sound dumb, but where’s Arhus?

Dahn ar rerd… (for those of you familiar with the Hull accent) Seriously, it’s in Denmark.

Cool, I dated a Danish girl when I worked on cruise ships. She was probably the best looking girl ever to be seen in public with me. She didn’t seem to care that I’m “average looking at best.” Let me know if that’s a cultural thing, i’ll be on the next plane… : )

Miamimark - hahaha yes the Danish girls love foreigners - especially Americans :o) I could write a thesis on Danish girls! And yes, especially Americans seem to find them extremely beautiful. As for me, I lean towards little brunettes of Balkan origin ;o) Arhus is the second largest city in Danmark, first mentioned in written sources in 862AD, but evidence shows that here was a city at least a thousand years before that. You may want to check out my city here: http://www.visitaarhus.com/international/en-gb/menu/turist/turist-maalgruppe-forside.htm

I guess the Balkan-girl thing is a Viking thing - only instead of throwing them into our longships, nowadays we just pay their plane ticket and they go by SAS instead of long boat :o))

Viking - If you like brunettes, you would love it down here in the Miami area. So many latin beauties! From my experience, you need either 6 pack abs or a large bank account to be considered “dateable.” At least the’re fun to look at.

Miamiamark, haha I probably would, but the abs and cash thing is really a turn-off I think. Oh my speaking of Latin girls, I remember only too well the Italian girls in Milano, where I went for a holiday last year :o) But of course I ended up talking to a Romanian girl - the Balkan thing again :o)) Though I THOUGHT she was Italian…
