Offered snuff to some smokers

I offered snuff to my sister and brother-in-law today (both are smokers). Neither would take it. It was Poschl’s Gletscher Prise as I hoped to start them out easy (my favorite is Taxi Red). Neither would accept it and my brother-in-law said “I’m not sure I want to put that in my nose.” I was thinking “you smoke cigarettes!,” but I just let it go. He did at least take a sniff of it from the box but I figured he would be more adventurous than he was. Oh well.

That’s a let down. I got my wife to try snuff a few times. She likes WOS SM 500 and She Cherry Menthol.

I frequently offer snuff to smokers - particularly ones I find congregated outside buildings - but they generally react with alarm and disgust. We might consider ourselves to be “renaissance” snuffers - the inheritors of the elegance of the Regency period but most people I come across conceive snuffing to be the province of the old, poor, brown-nosed and shabby. I fear we have something of an image problem here!!

I got my girlfriend’s brother-in-law to try some Gletcher Prise. He snorted it off the palm of his hand, which looked uncomfortable, and I don’t think he’ll convert. So far he’s the only smoker I’ve been able to persuade to try it. Do you snuff openly in public? I’m always afraid of cops, vigilantes with cell phones, and campus security. As far as I can tell, most people (here) have never heard of snuff and do not care for it once they’re acquainted with the idea. Thank Hollywood for the undeserved stigma. Edit: multiple posts

Cigarette smokers won’t be able to enjoy snuff as much anyhow. You try it, you like it, you stop smoking so you can enjoy it. Period!

just freakin snuff already. you don’t help the image by acting shady. just be open and don’t think about it. It’s not your job to bend over backwards so people can keep ignorant comforts.

I’ve brought some Packards Club to a party before and it went around the room. Some enjoyed it and others were confused about how to sniff it haha.

my usual response to smokers who refuse to try is “so does sniffing it up your nose make less sense than soaking it in poisonous chemicals, wrapping it in paper, setting fire to it and inhaling the cancer inducing smoke?”

People are frequently ignorant and rather superstitious when it comes to things like this. I say “superstitious,” because those who smoke tend to view it as far less dangerous than smokeless tobacco, snuff included, when in fact just the opposite is true. They eye it with suspicion, and then self-righteously say something like, “I don’t think that’s a good idea, putting it in your mouth/up your nose like that. Don’t you know that can cause mouth/nose cancer?” Meanwhile, they’re doing just what bish777 said: soaking it in poisonous chemicals, wrapping it in paper, setting fire to it and inhaling it which creates a plethora of carcinogens and other harmful agents absent in other forms. I suppose when we have a society centered around the consumption of mass media, we can expect mindlessness to prevail.

My fiance is a snuff QUEEN. She likes WoS Strasbourg, Samuel Gawith Raspberry, and Tom buck

Now that is cool @transistor! Tell her way to go. My wife has tried snuff a few times but just doesn’t like the sensation of it in her nose; the burn is too much for her, even with easy snuffs. Sigh. But at least she’s tried it.

I find smokers never want to try snuff, but almost everybody who dips wants to try some. Since i had around 16 different tins i figured i would let them buy some off me, I think i may be having some half orders soon =)

Look on the bright side…I introduced a buddy of mine to snuff (cigarette smoker) and he loves it. He does not do the computer thing much, and there is none availible locally in south florida…so now, I am his supplier! It can be a bit of a pain in the ass! I have to get him a bullet now, because he lost his…

I managed to get my GF, my friend and his girlfriend, and one of my band mates to try snuff. It was WoS Crumbs of Comfort. They all liked the Spearmint scent, however, they all found it weird and probably won’t try it again. At least they tried it

As you said, at least they tried it, tin_can. It blows my mind that smokers won’t try it. I’ll try to get them to take one of my roll-your-own cigs… I’m sure they’ll think there’s something wrong with them, but the roll-your-owns taste and make me feel less “dirty” than pre-manufactured cigs.

I’m very opened minded that’s what brought me to snus then snuff as well. Funny thing is that it was never my intention to quit smoking. I just find them both a more enjoyable experience. Oh and about snuffing public this weekend I took a trip and was at an outdoor mall and I took out my toque bullets of lime toast and whisky honey and no one seemed to care. They probably figured it was sinus medicine.

@ddavelarsen yeah it’s pretty cool being able to share snuff with her. We both quit smoking together and needless to say that was a HUGE help. Well, that and Ecigs and Snuff  I feel when quitting, that Ecigs are the best way to do it, but the snuff gives the MAOI’s and Alkaloids that Ecigarettes leave out. It’s crazy how I can talk about SP’s and Schmaltzers and she knows exactly what I’m talking about

I think it has nothing to do with snuff or cigarettes, and everything to do with the person in question. If you describe snuff to someone, and they turn up their noses or make ignorant comments or whatever, they probably won’t like it, in my experience–they already have a preconceived notion. If they respond with curiosity, well that’s another story. Though ST users tend to favor snuff versus cigarette smokers, I’ll agree to that. My GF snuffs all the time. It is awesome.

Gave a tin of toque cherry menthol to my sister in laws friend last night after he tried it and loved it

Whats that you say? You grind it up and then stuff it up your nose?
