Chewing Tobacco and Moist Snuff

“Now, there is Copenhagen, and there is Cope. Are they the same company?”

Yes they are. Possibly ‘Cope’ is just a marketing job to make a distinction from the Copenhagen Original that has been around for so long?.

Yep. Cope and Copenhagen are one in the same. Black is a very potent. I do not see LongCut, the Fine is the same(smaller grind), only it gets stuck in your teeth and falls apart.

Skoal Cherry is the candy of american dip. Very sweet and flavorfull, almost to the point of intoxication.

Copenhagen Long Cut Straight is where it’s at. I believe that Cope straight comes in a cardboard can, whereas the Copenhagen is in the plastic can. Not too sure why…

The Longcut and Fine come in the cardboard can. i belive all the rest are plastic. Both are pure, fermented tobacco goodness. The straight does have a lot of added flavor.

Maybe it’s a regional thing, because both my tins of Copenhagen wintergreen and straight (purchased here in Alabama) are in a plastic can, but I’ve bought Cope straight in Maine that was in a cardboard can.

Could be. I don’t venture far.

Here in upstate NY (waaaay upstate) the copenhagens i’ve bought are always cardboard with a metal lid. The Copes are all plastic. I find the cardboards don’t keep it fresh as long. They do stamp a date on the bottom. If its more than a month or two past that date, it could be dry.

@mr.snuff would it be possible to get some Cotton Boll twist, I’ve been dying to try this stuff.

Copenhagen is the premium brand, Cope is a budget brand. Same manufacturer.  Around here Cope branded is about half the price of the Copenhagen brand.

If you carry the bloodhound plug that would be great for me. I just don’t know how well the market would support selling it. I will be looking out for it though. Can’t find it anywhere else.

@n9inchnails beware, the Cotton Ball twist is VERY dry - at least the one i got last year from the states was VERY, VERY dry.

could be a good smoke in the pipe i guess.

I’d have a crack at the Cotton Boll too. Perhaps the Red Man also.

The Cotton Boll is pretty dry. I have always found that it moistens up and chews just fine after a while. Another options is to put it in a ziplock bag in the fridge with some apple slices for a few days. That brings it back to life pretty well.

Dip holds a very warm place in my heart. Cigarettes gave me the nicotine I wanted, but dip was sincerely somthing I would do enthusiastically. I used to be obsessed with Copenhagen, except their fine cut snuff, I only liked long cut. I used to switch off from Wintergreen, Original, Extra Long Cut Natural, and sometimes I would buy Straight, but that seemed too sweet for some reason. When I would buy Original I would often add a splash of whiskey to the tin, truely made it heavan, and I suggest to all dippers and copenhagen lovers to do the same, but be careful, it takes experementing to find out the best amount to put in.

In my final era of dip, all I did was Copenhagen Pouches, and as far as I know they only come in Original. During this era I almost always added the splash of whiskey to the tin. Usually Chivas Regal. I guess this friend of mine who I had chemestry class with got me into pouches, all he did was skoal pouches, and he refused to try my copenhagen untill i went out of my way and bought my first tin of Copenhagen Pouches, I brought it to school and tossed him a pouch, we dipped every day in that class, and once he tried Copenhagen (pouches) it immediately became his favorite, it felt nice to show somone the proper dip to use. I might grab a tin of pouches tomarrow after school, its been a while, i miss the feeling.

Stokers!  Stokers is surprisingly an incredible _dip.  _Miraculously, it’s also one of the cheapest brands at Lilbrown.com.  Not only is the longcut longer than most other smokeless dips, but they also come in tubs that would equal to a log, or ten cans.  Their leaf chew is stellar as well.

@Gosen’s Schnoz: ask and ye shall receive. I just placed an order for two tubs of each flavor in long cut. We’ll see how it goes.

@Brandasaur, I know you said it a long time ago, but have you educated yourself in the flavors of Copenhagen Dips? Because surely none other compares. O.o

Yes I have, so far where I live there are only snuff, long cut and wintergreen. The wintergreen is the best wintergreen dip you can buy.

@Brandasaur that statement warms my heart. I started dipping again, I am in love with Copenhagen.
