I never tried to mix a coffee snuff, Abraxas Café 11 is already perfect
I think I tried it but my problem was the same as with most coffee snuffs: The smell is rather chocolate than coffee.

HOME MADE! My formula is to mix some Tom Buck with some whole gourmet coffee beans. Experiment with the type of coffee (my favorite is hazel nut with slivers of hazel nut in it), the number of coffee beans you use and the amount of time you allow the flavors to meld. Shake it whenever you think of it to mix the extruded coffee oils. I use a wooden “Heart” snuff box for curing.
Do I understand well that you put ground coffee in your nose?
You can if you want to. I would grind it into powder first. There are all kinds of organic materials you can snuff. My favorite is tobacco.
I’ve only tried two. Pöschl Grado Caffe was not bad at all when I first tried it (it was during a period in which I exclusively used Pöschls and the Grado Caffe was very lightly mentholated compared to the others). Now, I would only use it occasionally. The second one was Samuel Gawith’s Black Coffe, but I got it in a 10 gram plastic tap box, it was completely dried out and had a strange smell. I’ll have to order it again in a 25 gram tin. The thing is, the only kind of coffee I like is dark and bitter (kinda like my soul) and there aren’t many black coffee scented snuffs out there, most coffee snuffs are like desserts.
@elestor I think howdydave just put whole oily coffee beans in with snuff and lets the tobacco absorb the oils. I had done this with plain scotch snuffs and Italian espresso beans. It takes some time for this process just not overnight. I have used McCormick coffee extract soaked vanilla beans with good results. I like to try a tonquin bean soaked in coffee extract if I ever get some. I plan on growing some tobacco this year and while it hangs and curing, I may spray some with strong espresso to experiment with.
@Jernej, When I bought my hoard of SG Black Coffee it was the bomb. Absolutely true, dark roast coffee flavor without any foofoo additives. I understand that the newer ones have somehow lost their way. Glad I bought a bunch but one day…
I get a coffee scent with OM Nocturne. It’s not a pure coffee scent as nocturne is quite smoky, but it’s there
Curiously, Poschl’s Perlereuter, which is not a coffee snuff, has a very coffee-like impression, even though the dominant fragrance is unsweetened black licorice. When I feel like going for something in a coffee range, I often go for that instead.
Well, I bought some of this thanks to your recommendation, and I have to say it’s a nice snuff to have, and I can see (or smell) what you mean about the coffee-ish scent!
Abraxas Cafe 11 is the best coffee snuff I have had and being a coffee lover I have tried nearly all of them. @chefdaniel’s Old Mill Cafe Brulot (no longer available but will be back) is a close second best and these two are far ahead of the rest of the pack, in my opinion.
I seem to be the only one here that didn’t love Cafe 11, but it somehow just didn’t grab me - too much of a liqueur and chocolate thing going on, and an inconsistent texture with some of it really fine and some of those fine grains clumped together as little rocks. I ended up sticking it in a 25g tin and adulterating it with some SG Black Coffee and Viking Dark. That toned it down somewhat but it’ll take a while to finish it.
Qws irish coffee to me has a great coffee scent.my favourite is café 11 though.
Tell you what, my favourite coffee snuff at the moment is the quarter tin of SG that I’m treasuring, tiny rationed pinch by tiny rationed pinch, cos both it and Cafe Noir are out of stock at Snuffstore! Hurry up, chaps…
