@stogie, this is a great reminder to stack deep! I’ve got to work on that as I’ve only got perhaps three or four kilos of snuff in hand and honestly that’s not much. It’s all got to come by mail as there’s no local source here.
We’re also fighting a “flavored” tobacco ban in my state, which will dry up the local supply of General snus I’m afraid.
There is a world of unknown possibilities out there. All we can do is be the best people we can be and try to be as prepared for as many possibilities as possible. Smile and enjoy the fragrance of the day…
I have a hundred and fifty or so tins that I haven’t finished and a couple of dozen I have yet to try. I should have enough to make it through a nuclear winter. That, of course, does not mean I am not getting more.
Oh, how many blends of the past do I wish I had stocked up on before they disappeared or became unavailable. I think back, say 20 years, and at that time I thought things were bad with ever-increasing regulations and shrinking manufacturer (including artisan) portfolios. Now I see those days as golden years.
Unfortunately, the same situation holds true each and every year: fine tobacco products will never be more plentiful or cheap than they are today. As the pipe guys say, “buy it cheap and stack it deep.”
So … just returned from a trip to Mexico where they have the new draconian tobacco laws. This was the first time I didn’t take any cigars or pipes. Probably a good thing as my bags were searched both coming and going. I was questioned about whether I had tobacco in my possession. I said no even though I did have some snuff. I have no idea what the ‘penalty or fine’ might be. Not a big fan of the direction things are heading.
My favorite cigar shop and the local cigar factory both now closed and selling locally grown and roasted coffee as well as chocolate. Good products but I miss the old establishments.
