sounds a lot like a more professionaly made version of the wonderfull snuff snuffster sent me a while back. That was a great snuff.
Why thank you Bob. I think Abraxas is more up market.
You know what Bob, thatās exactly what i was thinking. In fact, since the first description of it I had the smallest hunch that @Snuffster might have been producing it himself!
@Spam, I thought that too, or maybe it is Mr Claassen? Time will tell. Stefan
Do we even know what country it was made in? I presume its some member here that made it, but we have literally hundreds of lurkers.
Iām not a good reviewer in any way, so I wonāt attempt to try very hard here. Itās a damn good snuff though- very dark, coarse, medium damp. Easy to take. Like a good cigar, the flavor actually evolves. It starts off with a leathery note that mellows down into coffee, which turns into kind of a chocolaty note. But between those three stages, thereās a lot of different stuff going on. The flavor lingers too- Iām still tasting pepper an hour later. Itās definitely a snuff I look forward to seeing on a regular basis.
Abraxas? Not even sure what the word means.
Abraxas is a word used in magical spells. Itās meaning is very confidential.
Where could one acquire some of this āSpanish Jewelā that is referenced above? Is it still made? Iād like to try some.
Nope, if you canāt find a member willing to part with some of their stash, you wonāt be getting any Spanish Jewel any time soon. It was made by one man in Spain, and last Iād heard he had retired shortly after the big group buy that went on here.
FWIW, I think Abraxas is even better than Spanish Jewel. :0 Just so everyone knows, we (The Ephemeris) have nothing to do with Abraxas production. We were just sent an early sample for review purposes.
Iām sure thereās plenty of snuffs youāll like better than Spanish Jewel. Donāt let it bum you out!
I donāt know if this throws any light on this snuff of not. Last week I took a trip to Liverpool to see an old friend. On the Train back I took a pinch of snuff. A passenger sitting opposite looked at me with interest. Later after my next pinch, he said in a Irish accent. āDo you like that stuff?ā He then got his case from the luggage rack, opened it up and inside was three demijohns full of brown powder. Itās plain tobacco snuff flour, have a pinch of this, he said. Iām taking it to my friend in Leeds and heās going to blend it, and put it on the market. I asked who is friend was saying I may know him. I canāt say, was the reply and then it was silence until he said goodbye as he left the train at Leeds City Station.
Damn Irish snuff smugglers!
A curious tale @snuffhead, this would be a great starting point for a novel.
Ooh, thatās a little bizarre, @snuffhead. It must have been a rather surreal experience. Whilst I doubt itās anything to do with them, Iām in Leeds at the moment and will keep my eye out to see if anything interesting crops up at Greens.
@snuffhead , best story i have read in a long time smallish world eh
Wow, John! Have you found our mystery man? How was the snuff he had? Leeds; it seems very likely he was heading to Greenās. Maybe they want to do a house blend. @Spam: yes, please, keep an eye on the place!
@Xander Dark in colour, plain medium grind. Strong too, I bet itās good when blended.
And to Spam, go down the Turks Head Yard, itās off Briggate. You will meet an old man nick-named Whitelocks, he knows all the staff at Greens. The Man
