The postman just delivered my consignment of Abraxas from Mr. Snuff! I eagerly divested the contents of their envelope, and am currently enjoying my first noseload of said premium batch snuff. My first reaction is “WOW”, this is absolutely gorgeous snuff. Beautiful, fairly coarse grind (my favourite) and a rich, dark, decadent jar-sniff aroma which just screams quality. In the nose it is rich, powerful snuff with a very minor nose burn (just enough to say “hello, you’re about to have a great time”!) And a rapidly blooming and deeply complex flavour…I get whispers of brandy, molasses, cocoa beans and much, much more, I haven’t spent enough time with it to fully dissect the blend of scents but it’s clearly something that a huge amount of thought and many years of diligent and devoted snuff study has gone into. Yes, it’s expensive, but so is anything that is handmade, comes in small batches and requires years of expertise and craftsmanship to create. @snuffster, all I can say is BRAVO for taking the time to make this snuff. Abraxas is a masterpiece, you must be extremely proud.
Thank you so much for the kind words! Abraxas took over 30 years to evolve from the first experiments around about 1980 - which were just for home/friends use - to the product now on sale, and for it to be enjoyed by other snuff users is, quite simply, humbling and fantastic.
It’s a must have. Not all day perhaps, but every day, yes.
@snuffster, I can only imagine the amount of work it must have taken to refine the recipe to such an inarguably delicious point. After owning it for several days, and enjoying it many times, I can honestly say it’s a king amongst snuffs. In fact, midway through writing this I couldn’t resist having a pinch…revelling in it as we speak, I think it’s definitely an evening snuff, absolutely perfect for this time of night.
I’m very flattered. It did take a long while to get right but most of that development period was when I was just making it for home use, so when I started to sell it it was just a question of scaling things up and getting rid of any rough edges. I am happy with it, thats for sure.
I think Abraxas could be a particularly brilliant cold-weather snuff…we’ll see after this unseasonably lovely weather becomes Autumnal again
I have 3 more Abraxas snuffs planned btw, plus a very limited ‘special’. The next one should be Xmas time and will be the Abraxas take on an SP. You won’t need to take a second mortgage out for that one.
I’ll be first in the queue for those new ones, really looking forward to the SP. I agree it’s a great cold weather snuff, just today I had a pinch of Abraxas, left it in for ten minutes and then went outside…when the fresh air hit my nose, BANG! Back came all the aromas, like pressing the ‘repeat’ button on a CD player!
Well I finally broke down and made my first snuff order in ages, and had to make it in order to get this one (Abraxas). Now as far as I can tell the price reflects the fact that one of the ingredients in this masterpiece is tonka bean that has passed thru a Civet, right? Or was it pushed?
I don’t know why this isn’t my all day snuff that’s right I think it special! My hat is off to K57. Reading this discussion I opened my humidor and just shoveled in a generous nose full. And currently loading a box for travel it’s always best straight out of the jar.I will see how it survives a work week now the humidity has stabilized.
No tonquin in it at all. Hope you enjoyed it. The next batch, which will signal the start of continous production, is some weeks away but to launch it I will be giving some smash boxes of Abraxas away. There will also be a chance to win 4 jars of the oldest and most matured Abraxas with a beautiful snuff box to go with it. Mr Snuff will be running that and it will be a short quiz plus a review to win. There will be runner up prizes of single jars too. So, the first 10, non Abraxas using members to put their names on this list will get a smash box with a generous sample of Abraxas for you to try and work out what the fuss was about:)
"So, the first 10, non Abraxas using members to put their names on this list will get a smash box with a generous sample of Abraxas for you to try and work out what the fuss was about:) " Wait, do you mean ‘this’ list, or is there one somewhere else? If this is it , consider me signed. If somewhere else, point the way… :^)
Where do I sign —> KebAMP
Yes where do I sign up. I have never tried it. I am afraid I never even ordered from Mr snuff. Andy.
I have not tried the Abraxas because the price was too scary…signed.
You can sign me up too!
Sign me up too!!! Been hesitating to get it because of its price… have it sitting in my cart in MR.snuff tho.
me to !
Ooh, I’ll take a smash box. Haven’t got around to purchasing any Abraxas yet.
Sign me up too, if this is ‘this list’.
You are all in for a treat! Abraxas is to snuff what Gold Top is to milk. Rich, decadent, glorious and heady. I adore the stuff.
First ten on this list. When the batch is ready I will get your mail addresses - it will be mid November-ish.
Fantastic, looking forward to it.
Excellent! I can hardly wait! I picked a GREAT time to come out of lurker mode… :^)
Sign me up to if theres any left!
Thanks Snuffster, looking forward to giving it a go!
As soon as the batch is ready Ill check the first ten on here, so this discussion will go a bit dormant:)
Discussion: Bookmarked Thanks Snuffster!
Thanks @Snuffster I think I love you. Ps have you tried Viking dark yet. Oh and just in case. I sign the list. A D Jones
Sweeet!! Thanks @Snuffster Bookmarked! haha
I guess I should try it.
Any room left on the list ?
yes you should try it. Abraxas is a great great snuff. It’s like if you got a great english snuff drunk with a schmalzler and they had an awesome baby. What I’am saying is one of the best snuffs in the world.
I’m finding that snuff can be a lot like booze. You have your daily stuff to get you by, but it’s nice to have that really expensive dream bottle around to take a sip off once in a while. I’d love to try some if they’re not all gone yet.
One of the finest snuffs ever made. Cannot wait to get some more of it!
Hmm… didn’t know THIS was the list… I woulda said something… I bought the Abraxas as SOON as it came out and am still enjoying it…
well looks like i will be number 14 or 15 but if i am in the top 10 … count me in
Sorry Rob, you are a registered and fully certified Abraxas user:)
@bob your description is spot on! There is something rich, heavy, decadent and Schmalzleresque about Abraxas, but also something springy and British as well. It’s a tremendous snuff, of all my 32 varieties of snuff I’d have to say Abraxas is definitely the highest quality and most luxurious of all of them. It’s not an all-dayer for me in the way Best Dark, Brunswick, SP100 or Gold Label is, but rather it breathes the same rarefied air as Old Paris or Bernard’s Schmalzlers. It feels like an event rather than an everyday occurence to use Abraxas, and I’m extremely excited to see what @snuffster and co produce next in terms of other variants.
I know it should be awesome to see the future iterations of this new snuff line. That is for sure. I imagine that at one point in history this would have been a more typical snuff, which is a great reason to get more people into snuffing.
I look forward to trying Abraxas.
I’ve read a lot about Abraxas and tonight I’ve decided I must order NOW. But mrSnuff says: “No products to display in this section” or something to that effect. Is Abraxas only available from mrSnuff or can I order from someone else?
might be a way if you ask nice enough. Yeah it might require begging.
*sigh* I’m always too late for good things to come my way, guess I’ll just have to wait until I have money and buy it, sounds amazing though.
@snuffster Abraxas IMHO is a PERFECT desert snuff but my only gripe is that it could be a bit more “fine” ground. Other than that, I’m in love. It’s funny because I’ve wanted a snuff just like it until I tried Abraxas and thought “finally someone read my mind”
Thanks for the kind words, you have no idea how much they mean:). The next batch is coming on beautifully by the way. Rob, I hear what you say about making it finer, but Abraxas is the product I want it to be and not something I would dare to tamper with, if you see what I mean. But…the next Abraxas snuff will be an SP type that should satisfy snuffers who like a finer milled type, and it will have that Abraxas tang to it:) Pieter - I started with quite a small amount of stock really to see if it was viable to make it all the time. The next batch will see the start of bigger production runs and anyone that wants it should be able to order without any problem.
YES!
@transistor the second batch of Abraxas is much finer grind than the first batch. The first batch came in a glass jar, second batch came in a plastic one.
Sign me up if theres a place : )
Sign me up if theres a place : )
I think the first 2 came in glass and the 3rd came in plastic. I am finishing off my 1st jar right now. I have another from after mr snuff ran out and restocked that is glass as well.
The first batch was all in glass but I have ditched those in favour of lighter plastic jars that hold about 5g more - although they still say 15g. I’m staying with those (and the extra snuff for the same price). The grind developed over the first couple of batches and is at the final form now. Basically, when you take a small idea and scale it up you learn on the job. The very first batch was made by me, the second by my brother (K57). Production is back with me now and the experience gained so far - just in how you go about scaling things up - should be apparent in the next, and by far biggest batch to date. Abraxas will always be my personal take on some of the luxury snuffs I loved when I first got into snuff and it will always be on the coarser end - but you can have coarse and smooth at the same time and I think the next batch will show that.
i love the glass jars … luckily, i have three.
@snuffster Almost all my snuffs are SPs. I am an SP demon! If the next batch will be SP variety I think I will fall in love. Forgive me if I’ve missed it, but do you have an ETA?
Should be mid November, all going well. Snuffhouse SP (SHSP) should come out in the early part of next year. Its been a very steep learning curve with regards production but Im getting there! My intention, of course, is to supply demand and its taken a while for me to be sure what the demand actually is. I still can’t believe its been a success - I always thought it was good but you can never tell if anyone else will think the same. Anyway, I should have a nice smooth SP for you before Spring.Abraxas will come back, in a limited way, in glass with something I have planned for Christmas next year btw - Abraxas fleur de snuff, @snuffbrant. The SHSP will not require a bank loan to purchase either.
@snuffster Good to hear. I really enjoy Abraxas and I bet I’ll like the other. I’ll have to pick up a few jars then. I’ll look forward to it! Great job on the first batch btw. I’d say with a lower price you’ll probably sell out quickly.
I’m looking forward to trying it. It is on my “to purchase” list.
Probably not, Vathek. I just wanted to put my two cents in about Abraxas. Been treating myself to bit of it occasionally and have to say it’s the best I’ve tried so far. It’s very majestic and worthy of the investment. Thanks for bringing it on the scene Snuffster. It is one snuff that when it tries to drip from my nose, I do my damndest to make it defy gravity… for as long as possible!
Vathek sure but it’s double the cost shipping is undetermined at this point. I offer this deal to all snuffhouse memebers cash can be sent directly to me. Then I’ll ship it off once I get the gramage right and fight an almost suitable container.
So @Snuffster - any word yet? I feel like a child waiting on Christmas - “Gee dad, Mr. Snuffster said he would be here in mid November to deliver free Abraxas to 10 little girls and boys who had never tried it before! Is it mid November yet?” Dad: “Not yet son, but it’s getting close.” “How 'bout now?” Dad: “It’s only been five minutes!” “Oh, OK… So how 'bout now?” Dad: “Son, ask me that just one more time, and you’ll waking up just in time to check your Christmas stocking for Abraxas. That, and your 2 front teeth…”
Lol!! The next couple of weeks - basically I won’t pack it until I am 100% satisfied that it is fully matured and that all the flavours are developed as they should be. I will be making much bigger batches from now on though (all going well) and Abraxas will be a lot more available.
Would really like to try this especially after reading all of the positive reviews!!
holding on to the last bit of mine waiting for a time when more is available. This is a very great snuff.
@furious Seriously- I haven’t read one negative comment yet from anyone who’s tried it. It’s got such a great “desert liqour” flavor/scent. It even tastes good.
I should be shipping to the warehouse in the coming week. In my book its the best batch yet.
I’m giddy with excitement!
ABRAXAS SAMPLES
**************************
IF YOU signed up for a sample on this list, please PM me your mailing address. I will send a smashbox sample to everyone that asked for one, up to this post. The offer is now CLOSED. Samples will be mailed in the next week to 10 days.
If you missed out, no problem I will make the same offer with the next batch
Yes!
Consider it done.
Done Done Done!!!
Damn, I missed out this time!
PM sent. Many thanks for this. I have been looking forward to trying Abraxas.
Done! Seriously, excited may be an understatement.
*dance*
I think I sent a PM not sure though with this shiny new website…Thanks!
The only question is: where can I buy it? It is sold out in almost any store…
= (
I missed this offer, but will be looking for the next.
@kepler - it will be permanently available from Mr Snuff as soon as I mail the batch to his warehouse. There might be short breaks as I can only make as much as my hands and time allow, but from now on I will be making larger batches on a regular basis. I have to draw a line with the samples, but I guarentee a sample to any member who missed out this time.
I have all your PM’s stacked up, I won’t be responding to any individually so just wait for the postman. Assume 2 weeks from now or there abouts as samples won’t be in the mail until mid week at the earliest.
I definitely gotta make sure I PM you during the next batch . Can’t miss it!
I’m curious to see this famous blend, for the moment the cost can’t make me run for it.For Xmas time may be…or with this small quizz, who know ?
Anyway It’s must be georgous to make a real snuff.
it is worth the price in my opinion to at least try. Not an everyday snuff but if you snuff a few bits of it a day it will more then seem worthwhile.
I have not got to try any Abraxas yet, and I’m dying to! Got a big order lined up with Mrsnuff that I plan on checking-out with ‘round Christmas time. A lil’ present from Santa… :)… Just waiting for the Abraxas to get in stock. I’m excited !!
I look for it daily…
Next big order I make will certainly have Abraxas in it, considering all of the great praise of it!
Anybody get the samples yet?
Still waiting… patiently
Still no sample…anyone else who lives in the US receive their sample yet?
