Here are some Brazilian snuffs. Never tried any tho. http://www.snuffstore.de/onlineshop/index.php/cat/c194\_Brasilianische-Tabake.html/XTCsid/ebc3d4d31a803469bc3af58423784c3a
I’m pretty sure I don’t do anything different when taking a scotch that I don’t do with a toast, white, or any other fine grind. Bullets helped when I first started out, and pinching seems to work well and might be worth trying if you aren’t a pincher. However, I’m a lazy person so I usually shovel my snuffs straight from the tin with my trusty pocket knife blade. What I sometimes do (this works on the back of the hand too) is breath a slow foggy breath or two over the dose, like trying to fog a mirror. You may need to cup your hand over the dose and make a little humidor chamber. The idea being to dampen and heat the snuff enough to cut down on some of the loose flying powder. It might enhance the flavor too but that’s just my guess. Pinching has all of these advantages too including dose control but not everyone can pinch all of the time and some just don’t like it. I did have some success with what I call ‘Poking’. Thats where you put a little pile on the tip of your finger and stick up the nostril a bit before insufflating. These days I just take larger doses and they rarely backfire, those little bitty sprinkled size doses are what makes me sneeze.
I love the Scotches, all of them, but Bruton is my favorite followed closely by Rooster. I have nearly 1kg of each on their way to me. Should have them next week.
As if you need more @OscarWabbit lived through the Rapture. He’s looking toward the future now…
I think I’ve tamed the Rooster. Surprisingly mellow and tasty - definitely a top 5 snuff. I use a pinch rather than the hand for this one. One kilo of this would last me approximately three thousand five hundred and fifty seven years.
I never had Rooster or Garrett. With that said, I also never had Bruton (not that I want to). My absolute favorite now is Superior. I’ve emptied 5 tins in the month of May alone, so it must be good
I like rooster and rail road mills macooby (sp)
Must agree with bipolarbeardo here, Superior truly is a great snuff!
Yeah they come to snuff the rooster… yeah! (In the words of Alice in Chains)
I’ll agree with Xander… I think that each of the scotches I’ve tried have their own personality. I smell cinnamon and cocoa in Navy Plain, even more than smoke. My favorite is Superior. Just a hint smokey, but with a really rich tobacco behind it. WE garrrett is smokier, but the tobacco scent is less nice than superior, IMHO. For me, the harshest I’ve tried is Railroad Mills. I’m always surprised when people recommend it as a starter scotch.
WE Garrett is decent, and I use it often since it is one of the very few snuffs that is available at tobacco stores in my area. However, I think that Three Thistles Strong is my favorite American scotch. I haven’t had any in probably two years, sadly, but often find myself thinking that a pinch or two would hit the spot.
well since the only one I have is Levi Garrett & Sons Scotch and rappee snuff I quess that’s my favorite.lol edm
@rcarrol3 … i have a tin of TTS that I will not get through … PM me with your addy, it’s yours.
The generosity of snuffhouse members has always amazed me! Thanks, snuffbrant!
@Spyro from the 3 types still listed i have Rapé Moeda Cristal which is a snuff i cant recommend enought. It is spicy, fresh and has full body of flavour. I have 2 other types: Rape Imbruana (from some other company) and Rape Mentholado (from same company as Cristal). all 3 are very interesting and worth a try.
Yeah I prefer F&T HDT over any scotch, any day of the week. If I had to choose one, probably Honey Bee
For that perfect Toast/Scotch blend … love GH Irish D … most definitely my favorite snuff along with Toque’s Whisky & Honey. In my Scotch adventures … Bruton or Navy Square satisfy … TTS, took one pinch and found it to be sweet, like Red Seal crossed with Bruton … so now, hopefully, it is working its way to rcarrol3 as we speak … but USPS seems to have other plans for it currently. *ugh* Have ample Honey Bee, but that is a “once in a while” sweetness I crave … definitely too sweet for constant use. Dave/MrSnuff looks to be selling Rooster in 12 packs or large tubs … so that is the one I really want to try but to date cannot get. If anyone stateside knows of a shop near them that has some Rooster, I have some 6Photo I would be willing to part with, unopened. Or Red Seal, for that matter. PM me.
I haven’t come across any Rooster locally but if I do I’ll send you a PM. I have no idea how the American scotches are regionally marketed in the states but it seems to be chaotic in distribution. I think the problem might be on the retail level. The B&M shops just can’t float inventory on such a slow selling item. And most retailers around here have never even heard of nasal snuff. Even tho I live in the US its still more efficient for me to buy American brands with my overseas orders since I’m bundling up to beat shipping anyway. I enjoy inspecting the local shops and sometimes find a different brand to sample but for the most part; if they carry any dry snuff its usually one or two of the usual suspects. At least that’s how it is in my area. Others may have access to more local variety but the forum posts paint a bleak picture. So it is that Americans are buying American snuff from Europe and Europeans are having to buy European snus from America. Silly primates.
I live 2 miles away from U.S. Smokeless. They make Bruton, Red Seal, and a few others there. I know I can find medium and large tubes of Bruton. Anyone overseas want some let me know in a PM and I can pick some up for you and send it. Or we could do a trade. Lemme know.
Yeah, Spyro … the usual suspects for me round here are Bruton, Garrett, Red Seal … of the three Bruton is all I care for. I think the Tobacco companies could thrive if they could think about marketing snus and snuff (and do them each the correct way, English for snuff and Swedish for snus) … but their market is dip, chew and smokes.
