I want to order some strong snuffs, and I was thinking about Toque Quit or Fubar Willie Pete, but i never tried those.
Toque Rustica
NTSU black and Taxi Red always make my heart beat noticeably faster.
Agreed with @lunecat — TPS Black and White Elephant are the strongest ones I’ve used thus far-- they’re dailies for me; White Elephant is an hourly
NTSU Black and Taxi Red probably, but they are slower release because they are coarser. If you want the nic to hit you quicker, probably the abraxas premium fin, cafe11, toque rustica, white elephant (if you can handle snuff that might aswell be a gas its so fine). toque quit is stronger than regular snuff though. it was a favourite of mine for awhile.
IHT #22 is high in nicotine IMO. I was a can-per-day snus user (Oden’s Extreme) and a smoker. While I do not get this elusive “buzz” everyone talks about I get a nice lift from it and it keeps me quite satisfied. It’s also delicious.
I really want to try the Lundy Foot though.
The fact that 15 grams of lundy foot is 8 dollars before shipping is such a turn off I wont try it. If I did try it and enjoyed the snuff it would probably make me even more pissed.
It is expensive, yes. But when I look back at how much I spent on smokes, I could buy the most expensive snuff there is and still save money. I’m quite happy with my #22 though and am in no hurry to get started on any other snuffs.
Dholakia Sparrow.
All of above, and, Kendal Brown Special has a mighty belt to it. Most of the darks have a fair kick such as Viking dark etc.
I’m amazed no one mentioned US scotches, they’re one the heaviest hitters around
@n9inchnails Square! Accidentally had a nicotine overdose with this one! Also, Dholakia White and Samuel Gawith Irish D Light.
For *my* brain chemistry, Toque Rustica is by far the strongest snuff beating even scotches but I find the heaviest nic content can be achieved by mixing the following snuffs in equal measure: Rustica White Elephant / D White / Cheeta - whichever white snuff you prefer Bruton The kick from this blows me away.
Scotches are heavy hitters. I can’t stand the smokiness personally. The scotch users where I’m from are generally elderly women who use them orally.
Scotches, Hedges L260 and Toque Rustica
Thanks for the suggestions, i am like a begginer on snuff, I use snuff since 2011, but just brazilian, only now I am trying snuff from other countries. I tried only 2 yet, Toque Cheese & Bacon and Toque Peanut Butter.
Be sure to try the Toque Quit. I enjoy it, but it never fails to clog my nose up.
Taxi Blue made my pretty little head spin like Linda Blair’s in The Exorcist.
What kind of snuff do you have in Brazil?
I would like to say any kind of schmalzler, but especially pöschl’s schmalzlers give me the biggest hits. However, I haven’t tested most of those listed above, so I don’t really know. On Taxi Red I agree, I just don’t like it otherwise much.
In Brazil we dont have too much flavors. We have clove, menthol, chocolate, cinnamon, natural and imburana( it is very good, i think it is the best brazilian snuff). We have snuff with sunflower seeds too and it is stronger than the others, burns more.
Imburana…what exactly is that? A brand or a flavoring?
@braziliandipper I presume you are talking about this? http://pt.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imburana (non Portuguese speakers should let their web browser translate it to English). How does it taste/smell? What else is it used for besides snuff?
NTSU is the strongest I’ve had I think.
Taxi Red for me. I’ve found though that if you are not feeling enough Nicotine, double or triple up your pinch or increase your frequency. I’ve made myself ill from taking too much of what I thought was a low nicotine snuff.
@mjohns Imburana is fairly common scent among Brazilian snuffs. Here’s a review of one of the ones I have sampled: http://www.snuffreviews.com/browse/henriques\\_e\\_casarin\\_ltda/products/cristal
Thanks for the info. May try to get my hands on some
Taxi Red? NTSU black? Cheeta
Imburana is a seed of a tree, to me the smell is similar to coffee/chocolate with tobacco. There are not many brands and they are very similar if the flavor is the same, i think it is because the production it is the same way.
Viking Dark
Any snuff that I can take in a huge pinch. Sure you feel some faster or slower, but as long as you get a big pinch, you’re going to feel the nicotine with any of them.
Viking Dark for me
I’d say it was Fribourg & Treyer High Dry Toast. Even as a regular daily snuff user, a pinch of that in the morning would send my head spinning. Though it might just have been the particular batch I received with the first tin, since a new tin of F&T High Dry Toast that I bought doesn’t seem nearly as high in nicotine.
My nose is numb, my front tooth is numb. Is that a sign of high nicotine? Magic moments bernard
Taxi Red was quiet ass kicking for me too, though I really dont like too strong snuff look this site is awesome https://www.vipcubancigars.com/index.php/punch.html
I ordered some Seville from F&T along with some 6 photo dolahkia or whats the name? Suppose to be high nicotine, any one know for sure?
Taxi Red was quiet ass kicking for me too, though I really dont like too strong snuff
Not the strongest but quite strong
I find Cheetah to be the highest nic level, followed by Bruton and White Elephant
@Erik_the_Red: 6 Photo and Dholakia are two different brands of Indian snuff. Dholakia has a lot of high nicotine snuff, esp D. White, Sparrow, Sparrow Cool. 6 Photo Cheetah is a white snuff mildly scented and will blow your head off. Try them for sure, also 41 Photo White Elephant is an ass kicker for sure.
@mrmanos its 6 Photo Kailash I purchased 2 45 gram containers.
Also whats up with white snuffs, are they tobacco free? If not, then whats up with tobacco free snuffs? Is there something invigorating about them or is just something to put of thine nose?
@mrmanos its 6 Photo Kailash I purchased 2 45 gram containers.
Awesome snuff, I’ve got 200 grams jarred up.
@Erik_the_Red There are two kinds of white snuff. One is tobacco free. These are glucose based and usually mentholated. The only stimulating effect they have is from the menthol. The other type is tobacco. Its a style particular to Indian companies. They are extremely fine and dry, more so than even scotches or toasts. They have a very fast and potent nic hit. Brands include Dholakia White, Six Photo Cheeta, and 41 Photo Elephant.
i would agree with @lunecat and say NB Madras is the strongest i have had closely followed other madras snuffs then the white snuffs such as white elephant
i would agree with @lunecat and say NB Madras is the strongest i have had closely followed other madras snuffs then the white snuffs such as white elephant
I agree! Great snuff–had it in the bullet today, really something one can take all day. More nic-hit, at least for me than WE and much easier to take. If you haven’t tried it, by all means do so.
@Indiansnuff, was NC Super Special snuff amongst the list that you were trying to get hold of? From the NC Arya Snuff Company, in Chennai. I would say that’s the strongest snuff I’ve ever had, easily, although the NB Madras is pretty high to the top of the list, too. Really, Toque Quit comes across as a low-medium snuff after I’ve tried those two. I generally don’t start using them until late in the day, just because they ruin me for milder snuffs after I’ve taken them. While I find the whites sharp and pungent, and very good, I’d say that they are behind the two I mentioned for sheer force, except being so fine, they give you an instant hit. The other two aren’t quite so fine, so they don’t have quite the same initial impact … but ten to fifteen seconds later, they are right in there. I don’t get the “Oh my god, my head is spinning” result that some people talk about from ANY snuff, but those two always give me a few hiccups - “niccups”, I heard one person say.
@jakartaboy sadly i havnt heard back from NC yet, but i am planning to try and get hold of some
Up until now the strongest I’ve experienced is Toque Rustica. I’ve just ordered some NB Madras from @indiansnuff and am on the edge of my seat waiting for it
@shezzuk1 you wont be disappointed
With out a doubt,NB Madras awesome, nice flavour and smell also.
@shezzuk1 ,you will need that seat after few pinch’s.lol
So far it’s Viking Dark for me.
With out a doubt,NB Madras awesome, nice flavour and smell also.
What Is nb madras who is the maker just looked on my usual snuff store website cant seem to find Iit
Thanks
Cheers
I’ve got an order from Indiansnuffs on the way which contains some NB Madras. Can’t wait to try it
^^^^ So far I only know of @indiansnuff selling the NB Madras. Maybe he has stolen a march on the rest of the snuff retailers (outside of India) & has in his inventory the strongest nicotine snuff available to the Western World?
It will be interesting to see if some of the other snuff retailers notice @indiansnuff’s new enterprise and if they feel the need to stock the products he’s now stocking. Of course, that would be a good thing for snuff users – but I kind of hope that he retains his early adapter advantage. I think he’s doing a great job introducing some new snuffs to users outside India.
I’m trying not to directly compete with anyone just fill a hole in the market for unknown Indian snuffs. I will just be happy if they all get just a little bit more attention outside of India as there is some real gems out there.
I would have to agree with some others in this thread and say that Toque Rustica (fine grind) is the strongest I have had.
I saw a few people say Viking Dark was the strongest snuff that they’ve tried. Well, I just received an order for half a kilo of the stuff. It’s certainly a good, strong, robust snuff, but I’d have to say that in terms of nicotine, it’s nothing like as strong as some of the plain Indians that I’ve tried and that have been mentioned on this thread. Not that strong nicotine is everything, of course. I certainly prefer the stronger snuffs, but I wouldn’t much care for a house guest who grabbed my bottles of spirits and eagerly checked the alcohol content on the label to ensure they met his minimum standards. I do think it’s only one factor amongst many and that some people dwell on it too much.
@JakartaBoy I agree with you. I don’t drink alcohol to become drunk, and I don’t use tobacco for the sake of feeling the very extreme effects of nicotine. Both alcohol and nicotine can help me relax, and there are times when I want more alcohol or nicotine than others, but… Point made. I tried Viking Dark recently, and to be honest, while I appreciate the flavor of it, I don’t really feel the N too much on it. I’m not sure that the effects are from nicotine, but of the dozen or so snuffs I have tried thus far (still a new snuffer), I get much more of a “body feel” and couch lock feeling (and actually a slight tingling in the feet, as though I had been standing in one place for far too long) from Fichtennadel. Now that may be a result of the rather large pinches I take of the Fichtennadel (I usually box car a pile that is about 1 cm in each direction, averaging 250-300mg a snuff), granted, but still, if the effects were any stronger for me from that one I would hesitate to drive a car immediately after using it. Shame I can’t find it in bulk, as it’s rather expensive at $4 per 10g tapbox, but I digress…
Nicotine content was never an issue with me… It’s all a matter of: How big a pinch do you take? and How often do you take a pinch? I don’t even notice the nicotine hit… For me, it’s all about: How much does it open up my sinuses?
I’ve been looking for a proper strong snuff for a while now, Toque Quit and NB Madras are on the low end for me, even ground up Samuel Gawith Brown No4 is only hitting a medium level, I guess years of cigars and pipes have given me a pretty high tolerance. The only one that comes close is 5 or 6 helpings of F&T Princes or SD with about 5 mins between each.
I just recently received some NB Madras from indiansnuff and it is very strong. It makes my front teeth tingle and no other snuff has ever done that. It probably isn’t for everyone, but I like it a lot, not all day, but it really has a lot of nicotine.
With 96% of the snuffs I have, I do not or hardly feel the nicotine, the exception however is Makla Neffa Ifrika which almost always gives me a 5 to 10 minute rush after 1 pinch! After that comes Viking Dark, but it will take a couple op pinches within minutes in order to achieve the same effect.
Just opened a fresh can of N.C. Super Special Snuff…Yow…Nicups, tears, Rush…Thanks for that! Me Like.
I have never felt a nicotine hit or, caffeine hit for that matter. I once got a little more awake from a BFC of monster. I also have not tried heavy nicotine snuff so, we will see. I am worried about the higher nicotine snuff being just too hard to take for me though. White elephant just sounds scary.
" the fragrance of a crowd in a very hot, congested market place." Sounds disgusting. The description says it isn’t but, hot sweaty man sounds just awful. I do the bacon cheese snuff and, that smell like dog treat bacon, so maybe it is not as bad as I would think.
Bernard’s Klostermischung is the strongest stuff I’ve had. I don’t know if it’s actually the snuff or the grind allows me to take a lot more without it seeming as much.
White elephant just sounds scary.
The white Indians are quite strong, but I think people tend to exaggerate just a bit. They may feel quite strong because the grind is so fine, so it’s quite an intense burst, with a high burn factor. Sure, strong, but passes quite quickly and not like they knock you out so you need to sit down or you feel your pulse rate increase or anything like that.

I don’t need to sit down but my pulse definitely increases, I find they are much stronger when taken off the back of the hand or thumbnail. They don’t make me buzz very hard or anything, more like a really brief but powerful stimulation.
I have had K.F.C. double down make me feel my heart beat but, I doubt that it was a stimulant effect. Also once when I deep fried a piece of white bread. I am never eating either of those two things again.
Headshot =/= nicotine really
@Igglet if I eat too many KFC’s strips I feel my heart beat stronger too
This is a great post, I cant wait to try some of the ones mentioned here. Personally I find every day that each pinch gets bigger and bigger. But the strongest I have in my opinion is the white elephant. But I have some of the coarser ones that are rated at high nicotine content. like Sir Walter Scotts Moro Moro, and Abraxas St Casura, and NTSU yellow. Really dont care for the NTSU coarseness, but the Moro Moro, and St Casura both are a little less coarse and have a long lasting burn. The elephant is intense and fast like a horseradish burns. None of which use all day, I prefer them at night when I can pay attention to the doses better. As far as the nicotine buzz goes, I quit smoking rolling tobacco in June 2012, this was when I found a decent e cig. The e cig delivered nicotine at a much higher amount than any of the filter less cigarettes I smoked. It was almost like smoking my first cigarette again. So now 2 years later Im still using the e cig, and since discovering mr snuff and the huge selection of great tobaccos, Im debating on quitting the e cig. Because, it works great…when it works…but, thats for another page. I guess all I was getting at Is personally I don’t really get a nicotine rush from anything, but a sweet soothing burn, possibly because of the high level e juice consumed daily, in other words. Its all going to be dependent on your tolerance… But I cant wait to try the Toque rustica. I have some rustica tobacco growing in my yard now.
I have to change my answer and say white elephant, now that I’ve tried it. I read a description that said like cashew nuts and that seems close.
White Elephant. I would describe the initial nicotine hit as savage and prefer Viking Dark which for me has a slower release.
I say Willie Pete if you want a good smack in the face kind of experience. Though as mentioned, most of the fun is only initial, then it calms down quickly.
Magnet Menthol from Dinglers in South Africa is my daily snuff
McChrystal’s S’Nuff always gives me a great buzz; Hedges L260 is a head-murderer; best one I’ve tried that actually gets me feeling rather stoned is an Indian one called (I think) Yusraa or something similar.
It seems like the top 3 snuffs in nicotine are all India snuffs. 41 photo white elephant, Dholakia White and, 6photo cheeta. Correct me if I am wrong, I would like to know.
@Igglet, all three are ddefinitely strong, but in a very similar way - ultra fine, so rapid absorption. Sniffs like Viking Dark may or may not be just as strong, but in a different way, with a longer build up and greater persistence. Comparing them is apples and oranges. I’d recommend trying ONE of those three, and something like VD, a Madras snuff, maybe Toque Quit. They are all strong, but they behave differently.
Maybe add Taxi Red and Ifrica What’s-it to the list, completely the other end of the spectrum from the whites in terms of grind and moisture but also very strong. Or so people say. They both sound a bit disgusting to me, so I haven’t got around to trying them.
Cheeta sounds the most friendly out of all the high nic content snuffs. I prefer wet dog over sweaty sumo stuffed with salmons.
Recently I tried a Rifian artisan snuff made in Morocco. What a buzz!! Provides a superb headrush and a joyful dizzyness… It´s brown, mid fine, dry, tasty and easy to take, albeit some harsh to the throat. Many elder moroccans take it in long dashes from the hand. To me, NB madras was the most potent snuff in nicotine until I tried this marvel… I´m afraid to investigate what´s in it apart from N. Rustica… =P~
White elephant, Taxi Red, and prob Viking Dark… love that stuff
I cant find the Toque Rustica in MrSnuff… I think you can only order this snuff at the Toque website?
Yes and, only in economy 50g bags. @braziliandipper.
Get a fair old buzz from Tom Buck
NB madras,nice flavour too.gives a good kick.
I havent personally tried a lot of snuffs, but qsnuff does it for me.
NB madras,nice flavour too.gives a good kick.
I gotta agree–I love the stuff. Wish I’d bought a couple hundred grams. WE is good (enjoying some right now), but NB Madras (I call it MadMan) just hits me hard in a good way.

yes i know what you mean.i like that name for it.i prefer it over the whites because my wife cant smell the barnyard/cow sh.t smell of the white snuffs on me after a nose full.lol
I have found that Toque Rustica fine packs a mighty wallup. It is nice on its own or as a mixer to strengthen up weaker snuffs.
Levi Garret is the snuff I’ve had that has made me go green.
I was once asked to give an opinion on a prototype blend that hit me like a rubber cosh on the back of the head. A lifetime of heavy tobacco use had convinced me there was nothing out there that could do that, boy was I wrong. I couldn’t figure out how the blender had seemingly made every last molecule of nicotine available. It can be done and it can be too much.

Yeah I think the Madras snuffs are the closest thing in the snuff world to taking a huge drag on a strong cigarette. I’m not sure if they’re the strongest per se, I do think the whites have more nicotine, but Madras snuffs have a real somatic punch to them, very similar to smoking.
I made some home brewed snuff and over-alkalized it once. Definitely there is such a thing as too much nicotine. If you want to get completely intoxicated, tobacco is the wrong substance.
I’m a chicken. If I know it is a heavy hitter with former cig smokers I back away slowly with deference, bowing slightly so as to not get my butt kicked. My heaviest thus far falls in the medium category - not worth the mention.
For me, to get the buzz easy, i take makla ifrikia but it´s snus on steroids. In the nose i used to take the white elephant or white dholakia but is not easy to take the necessary amount.
So far, it’s been Dhlolakia White, but there are many more to try. So much snuff…so little time.
Most of the Madras snuffs I’ve been hitting as eye openers lately have a great nic hit. NB Madras is my favorite du jour, but I’ll have to find more soon.

Me, too, I’m under 400 grams jarred up now. That’s well under a 100 day supply.
Probably SG Darks… they are real nice but tend to kick my butt when over indulged in, also raise my bp too much so dont use them all day. The coarser snuffs seem to take longer to feel (larger particles=slower release?) so by the time its kicks in good I’ve had too much. Now its smaller and fewer pinches on the darks. For the rest of the day its toque pretty much.

While I certainly agree with you to an extent, I can also see the other side of the argument. Nicotine level is important so some (myself included) because of the viability of snuff as an alternative to smoking. Big pinches are the key though, so I don’t worry about nic level as much as I used to.
Taxi red and NTSU black have been the strongest snuffs I’ve used.
@doctorbeat I agree that if you’re trying to quit cigarettes a fairly powerful snuff will be desirable. Really only the Indian plains compare to the hit from a cigarette to me. You do adjust to using a wider variety but in the start it’s good to be able to actually satisfy your need.
Dholakia White. Also, I feel like Abraxas Cerise is like nasal Copenhagen or something. Am I alone in these thoughts?
A heinous mixture of cheetah, honest scotch and Quit. That one is the only one that’s sat me down… I might have to sample it again.
I am over exposed; but willie pete works and all the indians whites,Toque Quit, Whiskey & honey, Toque Rustica . Most non sweet scotches,Thuoc lao, also Dholakia Aniseed - But I have to be in the mood.

@doctorbeat, yeah, sure. I don’t really like the idea of alcohol-free wine, either. Most of my favourite snuffs are at least middle strength and usually stronger. But I think it’s more a matter of, Does the snuff have ENOUGH nicotine in it? Rather than, which one has the most.
Not sure if it qualifies as a snuff or a snuss but I had some homemade jelly looking tobacco substance that one of my Qatari students gave me that can either be rubbed in the nose or packed under the upper lip. Somehow, they put a miniscule amount of sand in it to help it penetrate the gums/nasal membrane easier. Guy told me it was illegal to produce there. I had a massive head rush for 2 days. They also smoke a strange tobacco/herbal mixture in the Gulf called Midwakh. It’s strong and definitely an acquired taste. To me it seemed like taking a hit off the tailpipe of a bus.
Dholakia White. Lawd!
Willie Pete blew me up the first time trying it
6Photo ‘Natural’ gives a strong nic hit and has the most amazing and pleasant noseburn I’ve experienced this far. Viking Brown makes my nose ‘pulsate’-Heavy on nicotine…really have to try the NB Madras soon! =P~
All I can say is that this thread gave me a lot of help with my latest Mr. Snuff order.
For me personally, I’ve found the Toque USA Whiskey and Honey to be the strongest, and I would place it well above Quit. In fact, I think I over did it the other day when I took probably too big a pinch, ended up with a cold sweat and felt rather sick! The snuff clearly taught me to give it the respect it deserves, we learn from our mistakes though!
Personally, I was rather surprised by the nic hit in WoS Gold Label. Most of their snuffs seem to be mid to low on the nic, but I get a good buzz every time from Gold Label. It’s certainly not the strongest I’ve had, but has a great balance between scent and nicotine.
My two cents, for the little they’re worth, is that nicotine is a side benefit of snuff. My focus has always been on the leaf and judicious addition of whatever scents the maker had in mind. The nicotine is a bonus. That said, for both great nicotine delivery and nigh perfect pure tobacco scent/flavor NB Madras is the cat’s meow. Since that wonderful snuff is getting rare and hard to get, TPS Madras is a suitable substitute. It is an ‘8’ to the NB Madras ‘10’. When I want nicotine I reach for a Camel non-filter. If that doesn’t settle the blood pressure I follow up with a large lip full of Copenhagen Fine Cut. If that doesn’t work, I take a long nap and start all over again.
Agree completely with @chefdaniel the nicotine is a side benefit and keeps me reaching for the smokes. If you just look for high nic then I think you miss out on some of the best snuffs out there. I’ve never had a ‘nic buzz’ from snuff, no matter what or how much I take. Guess my tolerance is too high from years on the strong ‘roll your own’ tobacco.
I feel lucky that I never was a heavy smokey. I went through 2 packs of 20 cigarettes a week at most. Some weeks one pack lasted me a week. I still never get that supposed “High” from nicotine. Although my second experience with drugs was marijuana. I have quit a long time ago but, I started when I was nine cause my cousin thought it would be funny to get a 9 year old high. So my perception of high may be jaded. With nicotine I either feel I am feeling good, I need more, or oh my gosh I need to lay down Too much! TOO MUCH!
My experienced opinion: it´s easy to get hooked on High-nic snuffs and then discard or use sparingly other great snuffs you loved before but don´t get you so high. Then you get tolerance to the “powa” and only the first sniff of the day gives you a buzz, doesn´t matter how many pinches you take after. What then? You´ve ruined your snuff palate for a brief nic-rush and never will be a snuff-virgin again. ~X(
What is this “buzz” you speak of?
@crullers Is the Nic-fairy singing into your ears loudly a soothing precious song…
If you’re looking for a nicotine buzz, smoke some dokha, but it only the first hits that gets you buzzed.
The last nic buzz I got was shortly after starting snus I put in a horseshoe of Oden’s Extreme 59 los. I don’t think that’s something I’ll repeat. I haven’t felt it from snuff but some stave off the nic monster better than others. I find Viking Dark works best for me because it has a decent nicotine level and I can take a lot of it at one time.
This is hard question to answer because I tend to take different kind of snuffs differently. I could say that the pöschl schmalzlers have given me the heaviest nic buzz, but then again I use to shovel them in in big piles. Cheetah (is it six photo?) propably is the strongest so far, because even small pinches tend to give a rush. But then again, it is very fine powder, which might help in the absorption. As my thoughts to teh above discussion, I don’t like very high nicotine snuffs like Cheetah simply because if I take simultaneous pinches, I get too much nicotine which is definitely not nice. I also tend to think that the coarser snuffs are better when it comes to nicotine, because they somehow release it more slowlly and in a balanced manner. Hard to explain, but the buzz is somehow more comfortable.
Also, if I for some reason really want a nicotine rush, I chew.

I have been noticing considerable differences in the effect of nicotine in different snuffs. For example I find the ‘buzz’ from SG very different from that of Toque. I never considered the coarseness of the grind but now I think of it I suppose absorption would be better with a finer grind. I prefer neither one over the other, I just enjoy them all for their uniqueness!
Anything white.
Aside from Rooster Plain Scotch, which had a kick-ass nic hit, I find a nosefull of Bernard’s Aecht Altbeyerisher Schmalzler has a strong nicotine content. Too much and I can get light-headed from it.
I’m amazed no one mentioned US scotches, they’re one the heaviest hitters around
I just did…ROOSTER. But damn if I can find anything but Navy or Tops Plain and RR Mills Sweet anywhere in Florida. Lucky that I stocked up on RR Mills Plain, Square, WE Garrett, and 3 Thistle before they seem to have disappeared off the market…on or off line.
After my foray into Dholakia snuffs today, I would say Dholakia White
Also agree the Madras snuffs are pretty strong
For me it’s Levi Garret regular. It can turn me green (lol) if I’m not careful. But I also take massive pinches. Which, to me, is the only way to get the Vitamin N which we crave.
I’m sure I have not tried as many different snuffs as most of you who answered the question. I believe the one with the highest nicotine content was Bernard’s Brasil Doppelt Fermentiert. A very good snuff (one of my favorites actually), but stronger than the Wilsons of Sharrows and Toques I’ve had so it got me dizzy a few times.
My top three strongest are Toque Rustica, WoS IHT #22, and Bruton scotch snuff. And i dont know if its the grind of the bruton or the nicotine but it gets me everytime.
So far, the strongest I’ve had was a homemade from ground up Cotton Boll Twist. Even without alkalizing it, I always have to be mindful when taking it. Other than that, W.E. Garrett Scotch Plain is my go-to morning Nic Bomb.
6P special is the highest nicotine buzz, then pure schmalzlers (some of them only has 50% tobacco and some has 80% ) Indian whites are good but they don’t have the ability to take in large pinches so no nicotine buzz for me.

I literally just started using snuff two days ago, but ordered 41 Photo White Elephant with my first order. I’m glad I did, because none of the other snuffs I’ve tried to date have had any noticeable impact as far as a nicotine hit goes. I’m also having a hard time detecting all the various scents… I’m guessing being a regular smoker has something to do with it. Hopefully this changes soon, or my snuff investment will have been for nothing.
@Tobe Be patient with yourself while you transition. I promise it will be worth the week or so of frustration B-)
@Tobe after you quit smoking it will take some time for your senses to reset. Food will start tasting better and your sense of smell will return possibly , you may had burned out detecting scents, it happens. Lets hope for the best.
I must be a mutant. I don’t seem to get a buzz from any kind of snuff. Maybe I’m just not doing enough of it at a time or I have a very high tolerance. Good thing I don’t do it for the nic hit or I’d be jealous. Now snus. I am wary of snus unless I am willing to be knocked out. The first time I tried a snus, I fell on my tush. I usually have to take them out after a few minutes because I get a head rush. I get dizzy and definetely buzzed from snus. That is the only tobacco that gives me a smack. Snuff makes me feel focused and clear, more creative and organized in my mind…and more relaxed, which is unfortunately not my natural state of being.
Hitsuzen and basement_shaman, I’m definitely hoping for the best after ordering damn near a lifetime supply of snuff at this point! I’ve given up cigarettes for snus recently, so the nic hit isn’t that big a deal for me. I want to enjoy the scents, but so far Buzz Bubblegum and Silver Dollar Apricot are the only ones I can enjoy in that regard.
I also tend not to notice much nicotine taking a spoon here and there. But I know it’s in there, because whenever I get a Mr. Snuff order in with like 10 new kinds to try, I try them quickly. And I feel it! @-)
Sorry for resurrecting the dead. I am new and looking for the strongest nicotine nasal snuffs. The recommendations from 3+ years ago still stand?
Everyone reacts differently to nicotine delivery. What works for me may not work for you. One glance at reviewers’ strength ratings on tobaccoreviews.com will verify this. The old recommendations are still valid. All I can say is play around and see what works for you. For example, in my case, I don’t get much of a buzz from Toque Rustica, but the American scotch Rooster sets me right in no time. Play around. You’ll figure out what works for you.
I’d like to add Sam Gwaith Black Rappee to the list. Dark black, and salty. Coarse grind slow release high Nicotine.
It’s made me melt into the couch a few times.
SWS St. James Parish, 6P MG Madras, and Bernard Fresco come to mind. It’s interesting that Fresco is rated medium nic on Mr. Snuff and I never heard anyone say it was high nic. Believe me, it is (in big pinches at least).
@moemojo I love the SG Black Rappee, too! Try it right after a little snuff of mentholated- the flavor really explodes.
When I was first getting into snuff it bugged me to read the “everyone is different” replies, but experience has only confirmed it for me. Toque Rustica doesn’t do much for me either, nor does White Elephant… and yet stuff like SG Elmo’s Reserve gives me a reliable nic fix every time. Moist ones in general seem to be better for overall nic, in my experience, just because you can cram more up your nose at once.
I haven’t tried Toque rustica, but there’s a simple explanation why it doesn’t hit that hard as desired. Once again: despite having loads of nicotine (supposedly), it’s all ‘locked’, i. e. not freebased by alkalisers, which are not added to this snuff. Mixing Toque rustica with any moist and alkalised snuff should unleash (deprotonate) its nicotine and considerably boost the kick.
@volunge right on. Rustica of course has other actives too including MAOI (formerly a popular type of antidepressant if I’ve read correctly). MAOI has a suppressing effect on certain liver functions and there are dietary guidelines that go with its use. My recollection is that foods like aged meats, red wine and over ripe fruits can lead to hypertension with MAOI. Probably irrelevant in small doses of Rustica snuff but for the guys here looking for the STRONGEST experience and experimenting with chasing the nicotine rush it might be prudent to consider. I think a bit of menthol or eucalyptus enables our noses to uptake the bioavailable nicotine better as well. But that’s again a vague recollection from a college course long ago
@ar47 fortunately rustica only contains the reversible sybtype ot MAOI, so dietary restrictions need not apply (tyrosine and phenylalanine). Not sure about the liver suppression, though.
@volunge Thanks for the tip! Looking forward to experimenting with this later.
Wilsons of Sharrow ani and euc always give me a great nose burn and mellowing nicotine delivery. I feel it a lot more than white elephant, also probably because I can do raisin sized piles rather than apple sized pile that punches me in my throat lmao
Update – mixed Toque Rustica and Elmo’s Reserve at roughly 1:2 ratio. This stuff is wild! I figured Uncle Squinty’s “nose throb” was the closest I’d get to a buzz from snuff. Lo and behold, I’m floating on a nicotine cloud right now, lol. This stuff is gonna be a real test of self-control… 8-}
For health reasons, I think it would be best if I avoided rustica. Is there a list anywhere of which snuff’s contain rustica?
@Notalynn if you avoid Toque USA W&H, Toque Rustica ( ) and Thuc Lao, Indian Whites, and the SWS blends that contain rustica (they’re clearly defined in their descriptions) I think you’re safe.
@ar47 Thanks!
@Notalynn, steer clear of Neffa Ifrikia and Neffa Green snuffs (pure rustica).
As stated by the manufacturer, 6 Photo Super Kailash “is a mixture of the very best sun cured Rustica tobacco along with a tasty blend of aromatic Himalayan Herbs”.
@volunge Noooooo, I love Super Kailash!
Actually, it will probably be okay because I never use that more than once or twice a day anyway. Sadly, most of the snuffs I love aren’t as beloved by my nose and have to be used in moderation.
@volunge so That’s why I enjoy the Neffas so much! <:-P
Toque Ambrosia contains some rustica, too. That’s the end of the list, I think.
Sorry about Super Kailash…
I really wish i’d known Rustica was more dangerous. Just received my 50g bag of toque rustica yesterday. It burns like hell but the nic hit isnt as whopping as I imagined. The whole reason I started snuffing was to try and get away from cigs and copenhagen
@anewamericansnuffer, you can try mixing some rustica with Taxi Red. Let the mix sit overnight for best result. But try that Taxi thing pure first. It’s nice and not lacking N on it’s own. Huge pinches and vigorous snorting works best with South African snuffs.
@anewamericansnuffer possibly your nicotine tolerance is still high? I found that with snuff, no matter how strong the snuff is, I will not really feel the nic or get a buzz sometimes, so to speak. Feeling the nic hit you is a relative thing. I take snuff dozens of times a day, so the nic blood levels do not have a chance to dip that low. To really feel an instant nic hit, that level has to shoot from the lower range to the higher range rather quickly. To consistently feel a buzz each time you snuff, you might have to first quit all other forms of tobacco (which are stronger than snuff) and even perhaps snuff less frequently so the nic blood levels have a chance to get low.
@volunge Thats exactly what I did. I loved the 25g red taxi and read in an earlier post to mix it with rustica to “alkalize” or whatever. soo I should end up with you mighty strong snuff
@sammyD13 Absolute agree with you. the hard part is slowing down or quitting when u have a pretty big supply. that SWS st. james perique just keeps callin my namee
@SammyD13 I concur with your tolerance observation. I stopped smoking tobacco several years ago,
did the vape thing for a couple years ( always got the strongest N juice I could), and was using copenhagen
as a filler up to I restarted snuffing. I enjoy snuff for the different flavors and aroma therapy but vitamin N is a
vital part of the experience. I guess I’ve been a nicotine addict for most of my adult life and am pleased to be
using snuff as taking smoke or vape into my lungs is no longer viable for me. But as it’s been previously mentioned every one is different.
6 Photo M.G Madras
Oh yes, it’s 6 Photo M.G Madras for me as well. I find 6P Cheeta Chhap Gul very potent, too.
D White. It is too much. Most Indian snuffs give me too much vitamin N so I generally stay away from them. The coarse Kendals are strong and so is Santo Domingo but I can handle them okay.
White Elephant is probably the strongest I’ve tried. I remember once not having it all day and then taking it a massive pinch and having to go to one knee because of the rush.
Taxi Red or Honey Bee for me.
6P MG Madras has an instant rush but it goes almost as fast as it comes. Only SWS St James Parish gives, and gives reliably, that tingly shiver up my spine
I don’t think Bernard Gekachelter Virginie has been mentioned yet, and I put it on par with Toque W&H USA, White Elephant, Taxi and NTSU for nicotine strength.
Garrett makes my ears ring it’s so strong.
Update: from now on it’s JNF Dragon Brand Madras for me. It leaves the rest far behind in terms of nicotine.
All my previuos stalwart snuffs are shyly smoking round the corner…
Neffa blue. The tiny 8 gram tubs on MS from Belgium. That stuff makes the veins on my head vibrate! I love the natural scent but don’t buy it often because it’s too expensive. I wish I could buy a roll of it.
SG Black Rappee, or most any of the South African snuffs.
Yes, they are quite strong, but I’m able to take HUGE snuffs of them, and they are coarse snuffs… they don’t dump all the vitamin N at once. The wave just keeps getting stronger till I either have some rye whiskey, or use a neti pot to clean me out.
@moemojo that was beautiful sir From what I’ve had recently, the strongest for me are SWS SJP, Dholakia Sparrow, NTSU Black, Taxi Red ES and SWS Fifty Fifty. Aroma and quality aside, all five are thoroughly satisfying. I put NTSU before Taxi because I find it much easier to take. For what it’s worth, I believe my new favorite SA snuff is Taxi Green. I received a tin last week and it lasted a few days. It’s not in the same class of strength as Red ES but it’s so easy to take and minty (when Fresh - my first dried tub wasn’t nearly as enjoyable) that I ended up likely getting more of what you’re asking for at a time than the stronger snuffs listed…
Fubar Snafu Plain or Fubar grunt? can someone who tried them both tell me which is stronger ?
@ALLex, Snafu Plain - it’s finer grind and made of rustica. By the way, 6P LA Natural is very similar (if not the same). LA Natural is rustica snuff. Grunt is coarser and didn’t do a thing to me (probably got a tub from old stock).
If you are chasing the nicotine, get yourself some Janta Dragon Brand Madras or 6P MG Madras, and you’ll be home.
Most heavy hitter I ever had was 41P White Elephant. Took my first pinch and after few seconds I had absolutely no idea what was going on… @-)
@volunge Thanks, i m gonna order some Dragon Madras !!
I have W.E. Garrett Scotch and have spent a few weeks with it, but it doesn’t work. It’s literally like snuffing chalk for me. There’s no effect or flavor at all
I know I’ve read on here about unprotonated and freebase nicotine, so I bet in my case anyway I’m unable to get anything out of the unprotonated snuff. That’s interesting
Other than that, I’ve only had Samuel Gawith and McChrystal’s snuffs and they always deliver
Sounds like expired stuff, @Gormur. Most tubs there are vintage/old.
@volunge Maybe you’re right. It does have a scorched smell like I’ve read about here, but once you’ve snuffed a bit of it there’s not much aroma. That might be because I’m used to moister material going up there, I don’t know
It does work but it doesn’t make me want to do more of it
The 6P Cheeta is the strongest I’ve tried. I find it so dry that it’s unpleasant on its own…goes directly to my throat. I’ve been using it as a booster to my Almond Toast snuff. This has made a great all around combo and experience.
FUBAR Shot of Rum Cheers Doc Holliday
Hey @volunge
It works now. I decided to come back to it after a couple weeks. It must’ve been the top layer or something that was too dusty and it didn’t work at all even when it stuck
It’s all right. I don’t know if I could do big doses of this stuff though just because of the texture of it
NTSU Black
Taxi Red isn’t quite as potent but its duration is about an hour, whereas NTSU Black lasts roughly 45 minutes
Everybody’s different, but for me that’s how it works
JNF Dragon Madras is super strong with a perfect plain aroma, brown colour and a medium-fine grind. the best snuff
@ALLex I’ve seen that one. Apparently it’s unavailable right now because it vanished from where I’d seen it
I’ve looked through these threads on madras snuff, but what are they? Am I right to assume it’s a spicy snuff?
@Gormur, no, Madras type snuffs are not spicy. They are plain, roasted in ghee.
@Gormur its plain and it leaves your nose with a ‘cigarette drag’ type of feeling/ aroma. Its heavy on nicotine. Hope they stock back soon.
Oddly enough, I’ve found that F&T Princes really smacks me, in the “lip full of dip” kinda way. Not sure if the high level of salt or the hefty burn have anything to do with this, but I’ve heard others say they find it fairly weak.
I have my first 100gm batch of toque rustica. Do I need more nicotine? I think probably not.
6 Photo Cheeta is potent. I think it has its uses. I can use it a few times a day, but that’s it. It’s something to do with the grind. Although the scent doesn’t bother me, one has to know what it’s going to smell like and there really isn’t much of a smell at least to me. It’s sort of a neutral smell, not pleasant but not bad either
I have Viking Thor’s Hammer coming as well as Samuel Gawith Kendal Brown Plain, so those should be fairly good. My first snuff was the Samuel Gawith Kendal Brown Scented. I remember it being quite good but it clogged my nose pretty badly. Hopefully the plain version is a bit more forgiving
I’ve decided scotches just don’t agree with me. That is, at least W.E. Garrett. After adding tonka beans to the tin, it improved the scent and made it easier to use. It’s that malt taste that’s gross to me
I sure hope all scotches don’t taste like that. Edit: I guess I have my own spin on this but I’ll add it anyway. Viking Thor’s Hammer is potent and it’s easy to use a lot of it. The good thing is I don’t have to keep re-upping because it has staying power unlike other potent snuffs which tend to leave me wanting more right away
A good kick of nicotine should make your front tooth numb even if you don’t have a tooth there anymore, it called phantom of the numb.
