Yes, I remember those all smoking days back in 60’/70’s and it was simply disgusting, especially in public transport.
Heroin comes in a few colors and anything that is powdered can be snorted… the main thing is if anyone snorted the amount of H as we do snuff they would be dead as snuff is done in much larger amounts than the other
Close friends of my own age are used to it and I just snuff freely around them, but anybody else will think it’s a nasty habit so I keep it on the down-low. I snuff while hiking but in public I just go without. I don’t snuff at work because I’m a waiter and I can’t be seen with brown crap running out of my nose.
Litter is the worst visual problem with tobacco whether it is snus pouches or cigarette butts. Using snuff reduces the amount of trash on the streets. Just another benefit of using snuff!
I think Government has done a great job at making cigarettes the “Demon” of tobacco but at the same time created a thought that all tobacco is the same. When I do snuff, I just do it and don’t even think about what other think unless they ask and boy some people can ask “Dumb” questions like when they see the word “Scotch”… “Are you getting drunk for that stuff?” I laugh as I explain things and have found that most do not really care what you do unless they are paranoid that it is a illegal substance. @dvsfaust You can and folks do snort heroin, they say the effects are not quite as intense which is why the put it in the vein. I remember years ago in the city, co-workers used to run off to a corner to do a line with friends
One of the great things I’ve found about getting older (I’m 43) is I just don’t give a damn what people think. I snuff anywhere, anytime around anyone. I get lots of different reactions, mostly curiosity, mostly positive and a few who clearly think I’m doing something nefarious. Sod the ones who think that. Nobody is going to stop me enjoying this wonderful hobby.
Isn’t the wisdom that is aqquired by age wonderful @SnuffySnuff great post
Thank you
Come to Switzerland … most policemen use snuff, its the thing for army, police and security people.
Didn’t know that. So that’s why I mostly get positive reactions. It does feel here (Zurich) that more often than not people know what I’m doing.
I don’t care what people think… If they have at least a hint of intelligence, they will ask questions – which I will gladly answer. If they don’t – keep ‘em guessin’!
I’ve avoided so many fights in clubs and such in Mongolia just by having my snuff with me. When my friends are trying to hit on local women (we’re volunteers from America) the men don’t take to us lightly. Things never escalate, but they always give us nasty looks and sometimes even start yelling at us (a friend of mine got spat on once). Anyway, nothing breaks the ice or eases tension better like taking out my snuffbox and offering everyone at a table a pinch. We instantly go from the most hated people in the club to the most popular. Gotta love Mongolian snuff culture. Although, I’m going back to the States this summer and am worried what my family and friends will think, but my Mongolian fiancee doesn’t mind at all and even snuffs with me (she likes the Indian stuff the best). I figure, as long as she doesn’t have a problem, I’m good.
Matt you’re wrong about why people shoot up smack. It’s cause it’s faster not stronger or more intense. Faster. Think about that for a second.
@bob thankfully I have never had the desire to try it out. I would watch them snort it, then fumble around like fools. They would then get hungry followed by being sick & start the process over
I like the amazing ability to sleep in impossible postions it creates in users. Like when you see some guy in a postion and think he must be dead no one can sleep like that, then he wipes his nose and goes back to sleep probably a junkie…
@bob You make me laugh
last year on a school trip I saw a junkie get pooped on by a pigeon. It was in manhattan. It was really funny. It pooped on the side of his head.
@SupremeCOJP You can just say that its a bit of Mongolia that rubbed off on you and you took to it. That’s actually much easier to say than, “Oh, I just decided to start out of the blue!”
Just ran into an old woman (my age) outside of class today… Took out my wooden snuffbox and she knew straightaway what I was doing. She grew up in a coal mining town. Even knew about the benefits of snuff as a decongestant!
Good evening @supremeCOJP, sain bainuu I hope you are enjoying your stay in Mongolia. A great country, with great people. Have you found your personal snuff bottle yet (horug)? And do you offer your snuff in the Mongolian Fashion? Ah, I envy you for being there … . On my visits, I always bring a lot of snuff along, usually in tins and in different sizes and flavours. These prove to be very popular introductory presents when dopping in on families in the country. Please forgive me for leaving now, all the memories are coming back … Patrick B. Ludwig
@Ludwig_1954 Whoa, it’s weird to see someone else who’s been here, even though it always ranks high in places to see and visit every year by certain publications. Glad to know that there’s someone else here that understands the certain charm Mongolia possesses. There are so many good things I want to say about this country, but I will never be able to expresses them fully. But I can always show them this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaS8r4r3vPs I bought my own snuff bottle after Tsagaan Sar last year and have the one that was given to me as well. I do offer snuff in the traditional sense when I have my bottle on hand, but when I have my normal box, I just invite people to take a pinch. I’m interested in where you stayed and for how long. You live in a ger?
