That burning sensation

My snuff shopping list is getting so extensive, that both Tim and Roderick will think my orders are bogus. They’ll contact me for verification of this obscene order and afterwards contact Royal Mail for special airlift services.

I have continuously been pinching F&T HDT and the burning is actually subsiding. So much so, that it doesn’t bother me anymore at all. This is extremely good news as the Molens snuffs will now be more approachable for me. Now for that leathery aroma to evaporate. Given the amount of HDT I have been consuming, it’ll probably take a day or two. Note: I absolutely love HDT!

slartie, F&T HDT is SUPER nice snuff, I LOVE it. Which Molens have you got?

I thought the burn was part of it, like oh Gawd!.. then ahh-all better. about a minute ago it was ahh-berries for me.

You might find that taking larger pinches helps. It sounds illogical but its a fact that small pinches of strong snuff irritate more (check out Prof Phillps Griffiths site) Ive no idea why that is, but in my own experience its certainly true.

@newbie, i have to say that best sp was the very worst snuff for me in the beginning as far as burn. Now that my nose is acclimated to the whole proccess however it is craving some best sp which is a shame because i made the noob mistake of giving it away.

Best SP was my first snuff and the burn was pretty harsh. It nearly put me off altogether! Mind you ‘grand cairo’ and ‘royal george’ still get me like that quite often too! But its worth persevering

Rather than start a new thread, will just revive this one. WHAT is the burning sensation? Is it an indication of the level of nicotine, or caused by the type/method of flavoring, or dependent on the grind and moisture, or, some combination of these?

I think it is simply the pH differences.

Are you meaning the pH differences twixt the snuff and the nose?

I’d say a little of each it seems to be. finer burns more certain scents burn more and I like to think stronger nicotine snuffs burn more.

Thanks for that Juxtaposer, bob. Really curious as to the cause for no other reason then I tend to be kinda “nasal” ‘bout some things  Was initially hoping there might be a consensus that it had to do more with nic level than anything else. But with each passing day of using snuff, nicotine amount is becoming less of an issue for me. That consideration is gradually being eclipsed by the beginning of a glimmer of a hint of the idea of appreciation of some of the finer points of snuffing. Other words, I’m startin’ to have fun with this new pursuit! By gawd I’m likin that WoS Chocolate/Orange!

I gota say, I like the burn, as long as it aint too harsh. That goes for any way I consume tobacco. When I dip coppenhagen or the like, I love the slight burn between the lip n gum. I started snuffin to get off the cigarettes, and come to find out that I miss the feeling of the smoke going in and out of my lungs more than the mass nicotine intake. That little pain feeling. Just seems to me that it should burn, at least a lil bit. Otherwise it doesn’t seem strong enuff, nicotinewise.
