St. Omer No. 1

@Hapax: The karotten we make weigh about 1.5 - 2 kg’s and measure about 60 x 8 cm. To big to use with a grater. What was used for graters ware andouilles or scolten, which ware much smaller. Jaap Bes.

I’m really excited to try this one. Jaap makes some truly amazing snuffs

I agree. He’s been talking about it for four years now. My excitement has grown and grown. I was rich then and ready to buy it. Sadly now that its nearly available I’m poor. Its hard to feel the excitement now :frowning:

@xander I just put in an order with Mr Snuff And have a 100g tub on the way. Pm me your address and I’ll be more than happy to send you a nice sample

This sounds great, added a tin to my MS order!

@ItsMajick Thank you for the kind offer, but its not necessary. I’ve got a job prospect coming up, so hopefully I will be financially solvent again soon. Then I will get a nice order of snuff.

I got hit by a truck and broke some ribs right before Xmas. I feel for ya. I also had a bullet through my foot on Halloween due to firearm malfunction I’m healing slowly but surely

@maxmortmer: I wish you all the best with a quick recovery. Mine took over 6 weeks. Jaap Bes.

I am delighted to have received my 100gm refill tub of St. Omer from Molens. It’s amazing how quickly it has become my favourite Molens snuff of all time; Jaap, thank you for that. This stuff is simply great.

A fantastic snuff fabulous flavour all the way through.will be buying more of this.

Still waiting on mine. I know it will be worth the wait tho so no worries

No worries? Hmmm, not so sure about that… I notice that the “temporarily sold out” sign is up in big red letters on the St. Omer page on the Molens website. I reckon it was available for a total of maybe 7 or 8 weeks total before selling out. Molens definitely have a winner in this fabulous old-skool snuff, so I hope this unavailability really is a temporary state of affairs. I would guess that waiting around for the karotten to mature for 6 months could be a contributory factor.

@Hapax: Indeed temporarily sold out. But the good word is it is still in production. However as you stated preparing and maturing the karotten is a time consuming business. Besides the production goes by environmental temperature and humidity. In wintertime this means a very clumpy snuff which hardly can be sieved. As spring is approaching I guess things will become better and it will be on the market again. Jaap Bes.

There is still some left at mrsnuff I believe.

^apparently not, I ordered a 100g tub when it said it was in stock and it never arrived; Andrea was irritated that it was still listed as in stock, looks like they haven’t fixed that, it’s been that way for weeks.

I guess he will get sorted in time,we’ve just opened a new car workshop and its been a nightmare, losing internet, computers slow list of problems that don’t seem to go away.we will win in the end.well that’s what I keep telling myself anyway.

@lunecat‌ totally agree with you,we’re not failing though thank god,I guess a computer is only as good as the user.so fingers crossed a better week for us.training is key also.

I just received a 100 gm tub of St Omer. It was worth the wait. So excellent, such a delicate, rich flavor.I am just really amazed. Just like all the snuff from Mr. Bes, a real gem to be savored and enjoyed.

@snuffmiller Can you possibly post a picture here of a Karot? I think most users will like that and don’t have an idea how it looks like or what is happening on the Karot. A visible lesson in snuff making. Hope your ribs are better now, my mother had it once and it took over 8 weeks for her to spend the day without paracetamol.

@Salmiak‌ My photos are here. There are 2 photos of the karotten. One on the table, and one of Jaap wrapping one up.
