snuff tobacco extremely sensitive to CONTAMINATION,if not packed properly gets DETERIORATED

Ironicly enough I agree with some of what you’ve said Snuffoly. I to think some of the Toque flavors are not strong enough, and being part of the Toque’s testing panel, I have expressed that. Some of them though are perfect, such as the Peanut Butter, Raspberry, just to name two. I personally love strong flavors in my snuff and would love for some to be stronger. The ‘Cult Following’ I speak of, I believe goes beyond this though. First Roderick is a great guy, who cares about his customers and as you said produces snuff for our benefit. He is easy to get a hold of and talk to. His customer service is by far one of the best out there, and most can account for that. So I do believe he has a “love-in” or “Cult Following” as I said before. Al SnuffReviews.com

snuffolly I don’t understand the degree of adulation that toque gets. Don’t get me wrong I love toque but I really don’t feel toque is head and shoulders above other snuff companies. I feel they are another great snuff company that offers a unique product that has created it’s own place in the market. I must say I like toque as much as I like wilsons but I like diffrent things about Toque then I like about wilsons. This is what I love about snuff though my moods and taste change through out a day. Often toque is my morning snuff for example. I think that Toque will become less wildly raved about (still raved about though) once it isn’t such a new company. All that said there are a few companies that are part of my regular rotation (in no particular order, wilsons Fribourg and treyer, toque, and dholakia) I must have at least of few of each to be happy.

It is always fun to learn a new word. i had to look up shill before I got down to the definition posted by bob. Social networking sites and forum members are for the most part way too savvy for shills to have much effect imho. We all kinda know who we are here and respect one another’s opinions, so when someone pops up with some nasty with no real justification for it (ie a thorough review explaining what he or she likes and doesn’t like about a particular flavor/grind/brand etc) I am pretty confident nobody takes it seriously. And what is REALLY nice about this forum is that even when a shill does appear he/she is treated in a very respectful manner and is not ‘flamed’ or denigrated too much. Mostly just ignored. Kudos to Alex.

The terrific thing about this forum is the level of debate that goes on, and for 99% of the time its conducted in the most gentlemanly way (or gentlelady of course, Kim and others). We are a pretty well established ‘community’ now and of course the same names are coming up all the time expressing their opinions. The Toque ‘love-in’ in my opinion is based mostly on the fact that Roderick is an active and very pleasant member. The cynical might say that he is just a businessman and using this site as a forum to launch and progress his company (remember advertising tobacco is completely banned in the UK). My opinion is that he is a genuine guy with just a very good way of doing buisness. Because we like the guy and his snuff is, whatever your taste, of a very high quality. Have we ever had someone from the Wilson family ever take an interest on this forum? Maybe they feel they don’t have to. I was an exclusive Wilsons user but now it just Toque for me because I love the product and its much nicer and easier to get it. It might seem a bit cultish but maybe we just have a company thats genuinely interested in the customers? The shill thing is interesting and I had not heard of it in that way, although I am familiar with the way con artists work. I fully agree that our way of dealing with them should be polite if they are not abusive or even to just ignore them. Stveverino1958 is an odd case, who knows what his motives are? But at present all he says is that he doesn’t like Toque - fair enough, I don’t like Taxi! I think the moment he starts to be abusive - if he does - is when Alex should step in and ban him; which I know he is more than capable of as he banned me for a time last Christmas for making a comment that he felt was out of order in a OT debate about Christmas. An apology and I was back in, that’s how it should be.

I definatly think roderick is being genuine. I don’t see anyone getting into snuff just to make money, I think a real interest is nesscary.

I’m just repeating what others have said, but here goes. I am a full-on, shaved-my-head-and-drank-the-kool-aid member of the Toque cult. I had a few bad experiences with snuff and I wouldn’t be interested in other brands if it weren’t for Roderick. The only snuff I’ve seen in stores are the Polsch sorts I don’t like, and it’s a minimun 4 hour drive to get them. Also, it’s about $7CAD for 10 g of Gletsscher Prise. Roderick’s participation in the forum, affordable prices (even with a 2x exchange) and free shipping mean as much to me as the quality of the product. I am excited to try the samples from namrata, but I wouldn’t have known I liked snuff if it weren’t for Toque. Of course, I wouldn’t have tried Toque without the free samples, which I found out about through this forum. So I guess what I’m saying is we should all have a love-in for Alex.

Its some damn good kool-aid too!

Well - please don’t send it to the USA

namrata, you are absolutely correct. I packed away some spanish jewel moist in a smash box and a zip lock baggie, and it has already taken on some unusual scents. Thanks for the technical details on how to preserve our snuff. I encourage anyone who hasn’t tried Dholakia snuffs to get some, especially the Sparrow, one of my favorites.

thanks for understanding my technical point!

Its a fact, some plastics ruin the flavour. The dholakia bullets are very good in that respect though. I would like to see one that doubles the size of the dose as I always have to double pinch.

Both metalized paper, or glass is good for packing the snuff, plastics as polietylene is meant to have some air exchange whit ambient, so it is no good.Afterall Tobacco tends to deteriorate in a very slow time, the fermentation, which is the first sign of this deterioration process is used in tobacco industry to made better stuff. But if the ongoing of the deterioration is not properly controlled, tobacco loses its quality. More the tobacco is fermentated, more the degradation can become real. If someone need to know more about this process of degradation feel free to ask, I’m slighty competent in the matter. (I have an Agricultural hight school degree)
