oh, well i’m just gonna pretend it has to do with snuff. lol
me too.
Onefortheroad - Well I never! Saw that film as a little kid and remembered it ever since. I love the piano/stairs one, and the flight of stairs is intact to this day in that really hilly place in California. Comic geniuses several generations ahead of their time, I love the fact that their scripts are absurd and witty. A line I never forget and that always makes me laugh is when Oliver Hardy inadvertantly holds a can of milk to his ear instead of the old fashioned phone receiver. Noticing his mistake, he picks up the actual receiver and delivers the immortal line “Excuse me, my ear is full of milk”. Ridiculous and with perfect delivery. Great stuff.
I just finished watching :The good, the bad and the ugly …The ugly guy finds a mother of pearl purse smells it opens it then takes a pinch. The purse is featured in a later scene in the prisoner of war camp where the bad guy is looking for Bill Carson whose name is sewn on the inside of the purse. There is a scene where the bad guy offers the ugly guy a pinch then smashes his hand in the purse. I never noticed it all before. Cheers Clint!
I sell the dead is a newer indie zombie movie and one of the protaganists does some snuff early on in the movie.
Be sure to check out the thread movies? for other movies with snuff. With some comments about The Good, The Bad and The Ugly too. Great movie.
Every movie I see now has snuff in it. Of course, its my own snuff.
Inglourious Basterds…Lt Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) snuffs it up at least 3 times.
I just started watching Yellowbeard on hulu, and A british aristocrat takes a pinch from his snuffbox while riding a carriage. It got me excited for a moment and made me take some snuff…
Watched the new A Christmas Carol, nice snuff scene. Also, I watched Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol… there is a snuff scene in there as well! Good ole Jim Backus.
“The Secret Life of Bees.” If I recall correctly there was a scene that shows a woman dipping nasal snuff and spitting it into a snuff can. I know it’s not the same as seeing a person sniffing snuff in a film but wanted to mention it. Besides, it is a pretty good movie, kinda chick-flikish but I think it would keep most men’s attention.
War and Peace by Sergei Bondartshuk has a lot of snuffing.
I recently watched the Shaw Brothers kung fu classic called King Boxer, it was great, and the villian in it was doing snuff a few times throughout.
I watch Akibata00 on You tube. She’s a pretty cool chick.
Sherlock Holmes in ‘House of Fear’. Starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. One of the main characters, Mr Alastair, pinches throughout the movie.
Battle of Waterloo. One of the chaps in command of the British forces snuffs throughout and also has a beautiful snuff box. His father gave it to him and he gives to some chap to give to his son before he is cut down by Frnech Lancers. Cracking film, recommend watch.
Last night I saw a rather odd movie called “Bagdad Cafe” from 1987. In an early scene in the film a Bavarian man looking for his wife (who is one of the main characeters) stops in the cafe looking for her. He taps out a pile of snuff, or maybe schmalzler on his hand and snuffs it to the bafflement of the two guys working there. He then pours some on the hand of the guy behind the counter who acts as if an alien pooped on him. The whole scene is rather entertaining.
The modern version (2006) of “Marie Antoinette” has a brief scene of a young aristocratic lady taking snuff at a party. Its very brief, but she takes snuff from someone’s box and puts it on the back of her hand. She snuffs off the hand then giggles/shrieks and sniffs the remnants off her fingertips. It all happens very fast and if you happen to be taking a pinch of snuff yourself, or even sipping a drink you will miss it. You can’t even see any snuff from the camera angle, so the actors were probably snuffing air. Its 18th century France though, so you’d expect to see some snuff scenes at least. Another one for our list anyway.
In the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes series starring Jeremy Brett (best Sherlock Holmes EVER!) in the Golden Pince-Nez mystery Holmes’ brother Mycroft does snuff and uses it to solve the mystery (in the book Holmes uses cigarette ashes)
I am a HUGE western fan, and I have been watching all the Gene Autry movies lately. I can’t remeber the exact title of the movie, but there was an old cowpoke who was one of the co stars who used snuff. Everytime he took a pinch Gene and/or Frog (Smiley Burnette) would sneeze just watching him!! The movie was made in the late 1930s or early 1940s. He has so many movies it is hard to recall the exact one. It is actually what made me start thinking about using snuff instead of smoking.
