I just bought the silver dollar snuff as my 1st snuff. I also really like the apricot, and the cherry I just tried today. The original I enjoy as a snuff when I wake up. For some reason I don’t smell the raspberry well. I did a YouTube review of apricot and original . Only a week snuffing and I am hooked cant wait for my mr snuff order to come
FYI not sure how to post links here. If you search bacchus68 on YouTube you can see my reviews. I just want to thank everyone here for great info. It has been really helpful along with the YouTube vids that are out there. Thanks again
Silverdollar apricot was the first snuff I ever tried. As we speak I am using SD raspberry. My local tobacco and brew carry the silverdollar snuff. A bit over priced if you ask me. $5.48 a can for 5 grams. But hey if I ever run out I know where to get it lol.
@Bacchus68 . Keep the videos coming. You’ve got a good camera presence. What do you have coming from Mr. Snuff?
I didn’t buy many. I bought some toque flavors that sounded good, peanut butter, coke, toffee, and almond toast I think. I also bought a couple of bullets and a handkerchief . I’m already thinking of my 2nd order and the first isn’t here yet
The first time I tried SD I got original and cherry. I only noticed the menthol in the cherry a tiny bit, and I didn’t know the original was mentholated until I was told. It’s really, really mellow. It’s one of the reasons I keep spending ugly amounts of money on SD too. That light bit of menthol opens things up just enough to really bring out the scent. It makes the cherry divine.
I love the SD’s I’ve tried, I wish I knew where to buy them when I’m home.
I am really liking the SD original. Especially in the morning first thing. How is the Toque original compared and are there any other brands I should try like it?
I like all the SD snuffs! Even though they are made by Toque, they have a character all their own.
I just got some SD and was stuck walking in a heavy, heavy rain, so heavy that my clothes were completely soaked and my cell phone in my pocket was completely broken and I had to buy a new one. However, the SD in my other pocket was wet on the outside but the snuff inside stayed completely dry and was perfect when I got home. They definitely do not leak and are great little tins.
SD snuff was the first I tried when I started snuffing, they introduced me and got me hooked into the world of snuff. My local tobacco shop carries all 12 flavours at a decent price of $3.50 per tin. When I am expecting snuff in the mail and it doesn’t come that day I go to the shop and buy a few SD tins to quench my desire for more snuff. Most days I have at least one in my rotation, I love the size and shape of these tins. My favorite right now is coffee IMHO it really nails a nice heavily creamed unsweetened cup of coffee. I am forever greatful for Silver Dollar and I will always respect it and love those cute little tins.
I am not sure, I think it has to do with state taxes, it is the same with cigs for example a pack of camels or marlboro here in oregon is around $5 but I know in new york they are more like 6 or 7 dollars maybe more.
I was working in Manhattan last summer and smokes at newsstands were 12-14 bucks.
Yikes, That’s definitely a lot of $$$$$ you could get so many different tins of snuff for that kind of cash.
I tried silver dollar, and I’m torn on writing about it at all. The reason I bought it at all is that it’s about the only snuff you can buy around here for 300 miles. Well, there’s actually two otuer brands but I can’t remember off hand. One of them is American made. Anyway, I picked it up in the Pike Place Market. The can is decent, and you have good control over how much you tap out. It’s a silved dollar shaped flat canister you line up the holes on to find the opening, based on a design similar to the Smith’s Snuff dispensers made in the 80’s. There’s also a little groove that collects a small amount of snuff. You can sniff small amounts out of the groove if you want. When you sniff the can there’s only a mint scent. As far as the sniffing experience, the stuff is weak as can be. It’s like they bleach out any of the tobacco flavor, and then soak it in spearamint oil. It’s also super fine, which makes it seem even less substantial. The aftertaste is minty but very short lasting. It doesn’t at all have the bite of the snuffs I was used to. This might be good for beginners, but it’s not a high quality snuff in my opinion. It’s more like the fast food of snuffs. It didn’t give me much confidence in Silver Dollar, and I don’t plan on buying it again.
the price of cigs in new York is amazing. The thing that blows my mind is that premium cigarettes like Nat Shermans and dunhill cost the same as basic brand names.
it’s like if snuff was all over priced but the same price for a tin why wouldn’t you use abraxas mainly?
The first snuff I ever tried was SD Apricot, and I immediately recognized that this would forever be a favorite. I’d like it a lot better if they were offered in 25g tins, especially as the price difference should be negligible… Maybe one day. I’ll definitely order more SD snuffs in the future, as the apricot scent I’m currently enjoying is absolutely incredible. The Toque Apricot, oddly enough, is nowhere near as good IMHO, but then that’s just my nose. YMMV, but in any case, every snuff aficionado should try SD Apricot, unless you absolutely hate apricots that is.
@tobe I am not sure about this one. I like the poschl gawith apricot and I think that sent is more like fresh apricot and this one is very ripe apricot. I do like the menthol in this one it’s more subtle than in the poschl one.
Was going to throw this up sometime next month, but since this thread is active, here it is! Silver Dollar Original.
