Silver Dollar Snuff Revues

Just over two weeks ago snuffster kindly posted me some Silver Dollar snuff. I’m no word-smith, but here are my short reviews:- This snuff is made in the North of England for the American market and Imported there by Kretek international Incorporated. The snuff is presented in the round turn to open tap boxes similar to Pöschl Ozona Cherry & Raspberry. The tops are alloy and the base is plastic. First I had some misgivings about this method as all where jammed and almost impossible to rotate to find the snuff aperture. But after some perseverance the snuff jamming the containers fell out. And all was well. Apricot This was so fresh and damp it is hard to tap out of the box. Wow! But when you get a dose, it’s a very powerful Apricot taste that lasts. Cherry I never thought the cherry fruit had a smell, could be my nose! The snuff is dark with a medium grind with just a trace of menthol to bring out the cherry. I prefer this to the Cherry Menthol from the Wilsons range but I’m not a cherry fan. Natural A good plain natural snuff. I think this is one of the best plain out there. Original This is the same colour and grind as the Toque Original, but differs with just a trace of menthol. It has a strong hit that is not spoilt with the added menthol. Raspberry Again so damp and fresh. I’ve tried a few Raspberry flavoured snuffs, but this one must be the best. The taste just lasts as if forever. Spearmint I do like Spearmint gum, but don’t like spearmint in my nose! This is personal, I know. But if you like Crumbs Of Comfort, your gunner like this. I feel sure that this new range of Silver Dollar snuff will be welcomed state-side.

thanks for the reviews, snuffhead … hope to see these in shops near me in the future. interesting … the alloy/plastic tin combo.

@ snuffbrant, and thank you, I’m sure it will find you through The Lights Of Cincinnati. (Scott Walker)

I still haven’t heard about or seen ANYBODY with this stuff. I can’t even order it online. Wish Mr. Snuff would carry them- or even Toque considering it’s from them…

Rob, looks like Toque did a deal with Kretek international Incorporated. You better pester them. >The company is headquartered at 5449 Endeavour Court, Moorpark CA 93021,

Nice reviews. I think the containers are a real mistake, plus what they hold is just insignificant for anyone with a real habit. These are a real contentender for the vacant US Poschl market, containers aside they are great snuffs.

Well thank you Nigel, all that snuff is now into ermtony’s court. I’m sure he can do the reviews in more detail.

I’m dying to try this snuff but so far it remains elusive. I really hope it becomes available in my region soon.

At the moment Roderick cant post but as soon as we have solved that problem Im sure he will be able to update us.

@snuffhead Thanks so much John. I will definitely pester them  I remember Roderick saying Toque wouldn’t be carrying them on their website. Just wish they did- however I’ll have my favorite tobacco shop contact KII. If only snuson.com would actually answer my messages about not being able to register, I could ask someone about where in Nashville they’re selling it. I guess they know someone that will be carrying it and that would make my world SO much easier. I dunno why but I CANNOT get anyone to reply to me from there…

@snuffhead … “Lights of Cincinnati” … i know some music … but had to look that one up. Nice.

@ transistor good luck on your quest. @ snuffbrant Scott Walker was part of the Walker Brothers, from LA. For some reason they didn’t hit it big in the states but moved here to the UK. Then had a few hits in the UK in the mid 60’s. Scott was born in Hamilton Ohio.

@snuffster Concerning the containers, I think they’re great for what I’d guess is the intended purpose. I don’t think we established snuffers are really being aimed at with this, but rather those who’d be willing to try something new, or folks who’re looking for a way to quit smoking or something. If all I could get when I started snuffing two years ago were 25g or 50g tubs, I’m not sure I’d still be snuffing, as my first purchases would likely have all gone stale long before I finished them. At the risk of stating the obvious, this is just a test for the market to see if it’ll support these brands. If it does, I imagine we’ll see 25g or 50g containers popping up eventually. I’ll have to head on over to my local tobacconist and try and get him to at least special order some for me. I imagine I can get enough friends to swing through regularly that I can get him to stock it constantly, though. I seem to have started a snuff craze up in New Paltz.

@shikitohno - I agree, it makes sense put like that, I do tend to forget that I haven’t always shovelled snuff up my nose as if its going out of fashion, lol. I hope Roderick does eventually sell them in larger amounts because they really are a special little bunch of snuffs; one thing Toque is exceptionally good at is getting fresh, accurate flavours.

I’d love to see them available in NY. I’m in much the same situation as EU snusers. I wouldn’t mind paying taxes on my stuff, if only their was a legal way for me to get it. They’ve prevented me from doing that, unless something shows up locally.

Is there any way to get a sample of this snuff?

@ MikeMoose, again I post the Importers address:- Kretek international Incorporated. The company is headquartered at 5449 Endeavour Court, Moorpark CA 93021. But if they won’t get out the real McCoy out in the stores selling in the states, then I’m sure that they won’t be sending out samples.

Sorry SnuffHead … I wasn’t looking hard enough. Ok, good point… Well, you can always try, right? :stuck_out_tongue:

I have four tins, first member to ask gets them.

Me, me! I’ll take em.
