OT- A new arrival!

Lol! No It Can’t be called Roderick. He’s not slow in posting out all your snuff orders.

I use to have a red eared slider when I was really young. Use to call him Spunky cause that little guy could run. I would call yours Tank or Dozer or something.

@Stokes I bought some “Weed Seed Mix” and some white clover seeds and a cuttlefish bone at thetortoiseshop.co.uk. I’ve just got to plant them. I’ve never heard of TNT powder, but i do have some stuff called Nutrobal which I guess is similar. Keep the name suggestions coming in folks, Roderick or Max are the favourites at the minute, although at the minute his name is “Messy Little Bugger” lol. He keeps walking through his food that then gets stuck to his claws, then he traipses it through his water lolol. I can forgive him though he is cute enough lol. He will be named by Sunday so keep them coming. Stefan

Call him ‘Hector’

If he’s anything like the “passenger” carrying vehicles on our roads, I would call him “Taxi”.

Personally I like “speedy”

@Walrus: TNT is made and sold by Carolina Pet. It stands for Total Nutrition (for) Tortoises. It’s great stuff. All natural so you don’t have to worry about kidney stones like a lot of the commercial brands cause.

@mark, my nickname at our cycling club is “SpeedyPete” because I’m so slow on the uphills! But boy, oh boy, once we hit the downhills, no one can catch me because of my weight advantage and the way I ride my full suspension bike. Even my son, who is 25 years my junior, can’t keep up with me. @Chris: I had another look at the photo and the little guy is so well dressed, reminds me of …Elvis!

Thank you wickedkitchen. Your name has won. He is to be called Brian, it really suits him. Thanks for all the suggestions folks, Brian appreciates it LOL. Stefan

Mine are 7 by now. Lenin to the left, Durruti to the right. It´s amazing how different characters they have.

We keep a Sonoran desert tortoise at my office, but I don’t have any pics.

Some very handsome guys there Red Star!

Thank you! Although Lenin has a bit of a bold expression on that picture, he´s by far the more cautious one. Only when it comes to defending his companion (when children or dogs show up) he´s becoming quite brave and takes attacking position. Durruti is more the curious type of guy. What´s really quite unique, different to their wildlife behaviour is, when one of them manages to land on their back, which could be fatal, they help each other to get back on their feet. Great friendship here.

Very nice that they have each other. Ramses has a bit of that brave gene, but it’s mostly when I feed him. He likes to come over and sit right on his bowl, I have to move him only so he can run back over. December is on it’s way so he will be slowing down pretty soon. This weekend I’m building my Redfoot an outdoor enclosure so he can get used to the weather.

i have a 4year old African spined tortoise, named Morla the Ancient One form the never ending story

@BMJ: African Spined as in Sulcata or African Spur Thighed?

@BluntMasterJ: My former girlfriend named her spur-thighed tortoise just the same. That´s really nice. Would love to see a photo of your tortoise. There´s a very good one at wikipedia.
