Moscow terror

Stalin might just well ally with the terrorists to eliminate his political enemies. I would guess those who admire him are not old enough to remember him. He was eliminated by members of his own politboro for a reason.

@nachman – exactly I was thinking “yep,if Stalin were here running things we might not have terrorists but then we’d be stuck with … Stalin…” meh… What’s that saying, something about “those who are willing to give up their freedoms for security deserve neither”? (I think it might’ve been Thomas Jefferson who said it).

lol. yeah what a pitty that stalin isnt around.

@whistlrr: The quote you’re thinking of is Benjamin Franklin’s

You know, Pol Pot, Mussolini, Franco and General Galtieri all knew how to deal with terrorists too. Thing is, you’d replace one evil with another. Stalin was one of the most brutal mass-murderers in history but I guess he didn’t make too much of a demonstration of it.

yeah he killed alot more then any terrorist group ever has even come close to. Heck if they bombed places once a month they’d still be behind stalin. The qoute is atributed to benjamin franklin but it seems like he was actualy qouting someone else. Though if you want a good Ben Franklin book find “To Fart Proudly” it is a collection of essay by him you won’t find in school books. Including one about making a elixer that will make your farts smell great (so it becomes trendy in upper class circles to pass wind as often as possible). Though my favorite essay is the one about how if you have an affair older woman are a better choice. Seriously though stalin was terrible and I’d rather take my chances with terrorist then with a leader like him. Oh yeah and how he got there wasn’t that diffrent then how these fucktards are trying to get some power too.

Yep, next people will be wishing for Hitler (all of which is sort of like solving your insect infestation problem in your house by completely blowing the house up and then standing back proudly, all so satisfied that you finally got 'em the bugs are all gone that you never even notice that now you don’t have a place to live… ah ‘details details’)

Well put indeed.

@Bob: Comparing the Chechen terrorists to Stalin isn’t quite right. They’re more akin the the Algerian terrorists of the 1940s-50s, in that they just want their own country under their control, and not under an imperial power’s. Stalin terrorized Russia, took it, and then went on to add vast swathes of Central Asia and Eastern Europe to the land he controlled. Technically, the other nations in the USSR had independent governments, but Moscow pulled the strings on most all of them. Edit: Oh, and Stalin continued to terrorize those he disagreed with after he came into power.

I have no desire to argue about it, now do I wish to appear as a person without compassion. It is very simple for me. I DESPISE people who use violence against innocent persons in order to make their political statement, and I have no sympathy for their political statement when they use such actions. Blowing up people in a market place, or a public building or train station is appalling, disgusting and the person who thinks it justified is not worthy of life in my opinion. Rejoicing in and taking pride in the fact that your son or daughter blew themselves and others to bits is appalling. I felt the same way for the IRA, I lived in England for six years, I remember the horse guards, the bandstand, and the hamburger joint, the department store (I was moments from walking in the door when the bomb went off) and none of these assisted me in anyway with sympathizing the IRA’s stance. All it did for me was make me not care one whit about them or their cause. I do not know what the answer is, but I firmly believe that we should exterminate every single terrorist we find, without mercy. That appears to be all they understand. They will hate us to their dying breath regardless of what we do, so let’s hasten that dying breath.

An eye for an eye and the whole world goes blind.

“Terrorists” is simply the name the big army gives to the little army. Big armies commit far more atrocites on grand scales, and are legitimized by a government. Social injustice is the root of violent action. Restore justice and violence withers away.

Greetings from Moscow, and Riga, Helsinki and Brussels as well, went there for business/personal trip for a couple of weeks. And in Moscow, took metro all the time even though had a hackney paid for. If they try kill me and my friends, don’t really care about their motives, killers are killers and enemies of humanity.

When they purposely kill innocent bystanders, they lose all credibility in whatever their “cause” may be.

Sure fuck them right how can you not hate people that do stuff like that. I think the point myself and possibly others are making isn’t that these people are moraly fine or are not monsters but that reacting in kind with them doesn’t do anything but end up digging a bigger hole in the long run(again only speaking for myself definatifly and speculativly for others.). Reminds me too of a Nietzsche quote " He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." Definatly think this applies here. Anytime one goes after the people that do something like this how many innocent people always get caught up in the retrabution. Yeah sure if we could neatly press the magic button and cut people like that out of life that would truely be wonderfull, it just isn’t how it ever seems to work out.
