Happy St George's Day...

… to all those this side of the pond (and anybody else who might be interested). I’ll raise a nostril to the old fella and fill it with something patriotic.

And a very happy St George’s Day to you too. If I have time I will head to the pub later and have some fine English ale with some Grousemoor snuff and / or a bowl of Ennerdale.

Ditto  Oddly St. George is also the patron saint of Moscow and appears in the centre of the double headed eagle of the imperial czars. Very popular patron of several other former soviet states too.

@MisterPaul, is that how “Georgia” gets its name?

@JakartaBoy - It is indeed! {See the flag and coat of arm’s of Georgia below} You’ll note that the flag is almost identical to the English flag, but with the addition of small red crosses on the quarters. Likewise you can see St. George (& the dragon naturally  ) in the centre of the shield.

Looks better than a portrait of Stalin!

I hope you will all forgive me, but I would rather celebrate Crazy George Day with a tin of @Roderick Toque’s snuff of the same name. Damned if I can tell what’s in it, but whatever it is, it’s a great pinch, so I’ll stop trying to figure it out and just enjoy the hell out of it 'til this tin needs replacing.
