more snuff boxes for sale

and

I’m a bullet kind of guy, but those are VERY nice! I wonder if there’s a way I could make one to have muiltiple compartments?

Yes, I’d definitely like a double compartment version of one of these too!

I think there are some boxes with multiple compartments but I feel sure I read somewhere on this forum that they suffer with the snuff crossing over due to the sliding lid.

I guess the question is how big you’d want the double compartment box to be. There’s a fine line on how small one would want each compartment to be, and that translates into how big the overall box would be. I do have a design for such a box and will try to get some made but it probably won’t be until April.

That sounds great, Patrick - I’ll definitely be making an order for one of those.

I bought some nice ‘pill boxes’ at a store called Five Below a couple of weekends ago. They are relatively small (a bit bigger than 10g Toque tins but smaller than the 25g tins), round, and have two compartments. There is no way for snuff to travel into the other compartment, as they are completely sealed off from each other. They were either a dollar or two for a dollar. They are made from a heavy plastic, so they won’t look as nice as Patrick’s boxes, but they are very convenient if you want to carry more than one snuff but don’t feel like carrying several boxes. Has anyone else seen these? If I get a chance, I’ll post pictures. They are definitely worth checking out. ~Snuffy

Patrick’s boxes are also now available at NicotineRush. Thanks Tom

One of the guys (Trout I think) said he tried a double box and it was no good because the scents mixed. I would personally stay with onefortheroad’s time proven one-snuff design.

I’ve already got a Zebra box from Patrick and now I’ve ordered 2 more, 1 Padauk and 1 Oak. Hope to have it soon. I also have a friend in Somerset, UK who often goes to auctions of old stuff. He promised to keep his eyes open for some old snuff boxes.

Just picked one of these up from Nicotene Rush the other day , it is a fine looking snuff box, my only problem is that the lid seems to slide a bit too easy and I am afraid of winding up with a pocket full of snuff. Is there a sure fire way to remedy this that anyone knows of?

You could try rubbing some solid beeswax on it should help.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, there are some excellent ideas there I will find one that works once I get home. It is a lovely box and I really want to use it regularly once the wood seasons a bit and stops adding scent to my snuffs.

Yeah, follwing up on the incident in the thread that Bigblue references, I did sort mine out without any drastic measures. I took a hot shower and left the box nearby in a small bathroom. I closed the door and left the fan off. I got the room nice and steamy. After my shower the box was much tighter. I did the same again the next day and it was like new. I guess it had just gotten dried out.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who snuffs in the bathroom tomorrow. All of mine are loose except the new zebra I got. I grabbed one because I know thy go fast.

Patrick, It was the Lacewood Box, very nice job by the way. I have used the Pieter technique with a very small bit of superglue spread around the 2 edges and it works beatifully now. I will definitely be getting a couple more of different styles in the near future. Well done!

I just received 3 more beautiful snuffboxes from Patrick! Beautiful workmanship, as usual! Thanks Patrick!

That’s great news. Glad they made it to you. I guess 2 weeks isn’t too bad to your neck of the woods. Enjoy!
