Here are some of the boxes I’m selling. The dark ones are oak and the light ones are poplar. All with wood inlays. These are a nice pocket size and hold about 5 grams I’d say. They measure 2-3/8 to 2-1/2 in length, 1-1/2 or less in width and 5/8 or less depth. The inside measurements are 2 by 1 by 5/16. I’m asking $15 each ($12 for the box and $3 for shipping to 48 state US addresses). I put the Poschl’s containers there for size comparison. I’ve been carrying mine for a couple weeks and nothing leaks out and the lids stay tight. Best of all, they don’t advertise Wilson’s (not that I don’t like Wilson’s) and they fit in your pocket.

My snuffbox gave my spanish jewel and oak scent… I don’t mind it… However, it also further dried out this already very fine and dry snuff. If anyone thought it was difficult to sniff before, try drying it in an oak snuff box for a month! Hopefully over time this box will be seasoned enough that it won’t pull moisture out of snuff.

Ahh, well there in lies my problem. I’ll be a little more careful next time not to let it sit for so long.

My old vintage wood snuff boxes don’t seem to change the snuff.

I agree with Mo. 48 hours max for a wood snuffbox. Any more and you will have the extra dry version of whatever you started with. I don’t notice much change in the dry American snuffs but I left some Christmas Joy in one of my boxes for about 4 days recently. It was still Christmas, but the Joy was gone! Remember, snuffboxes are for carrying a days supply, not permanent storage. Merdock69…a month?! Sorry to hear it was the Spanish Jewel.

No fear, I will dutifully snuff all the remaining spanish jewel in there. It may not be what it used to be, but it’s still good!

when i started using my wood boxes, i would take food grade mineral oil easily avalible at any cooking supply house, as it is used for cutting bords and all other wooden kitchen ware. i lightly rub the inside and underside of the lid staying away from contact edges. close and let sit overnight, by the next day it will all be absorbed and dry. repeat for 3 days. after that it is almost as air tight as a tin. the finer part of your snuff will coat the inside in a very fine layer but is not a problem. this only has to be or should be wiped out if changing the type of snuff you are putting in it, although it is not the best to use wood for other snuff unless they are of the plain type, because the scent of the other will cross over. you can also use olive oil, but it can go rancid over time unlike mineral oil, but usually this is not a problem in this case. good luck, tim

I received two more Patrick boxes, Oak and Padauk. Both are beautifully made but I must mentioned the Padauk. The lid slides like it is oiled yet it still sits tight. This is the perfect box for me.

I have to echo and agree with what Pieter just said. He’s exactly right! I also have two of Patrick’s boxes, in Canarywood and also Padauk. Very pleased with both, but the Padauk is especially nice, The woods natural oil just lends itself to this application. The lid slides easily to open or close, yet always stays secure.

I ordered two new ones yesterday (zebra and padauk ) but i just saw that nicrush received a new beautiful Mahogany box so i will have to control myself !!

Mahogany is probably an excellent wood for a snuffbox. I already have one of the Padauk ones and it is fantastic. Even though the wood is supposed to be oily, snuff doesn’t stick to any of these boxes inside. They are made by a true craftsman!
